    Best Broiled Lobster!

Once again, a fantastic dining experience. I celebrate my Daughter's birthday at The Lobster Trap on Weston Road as a yearly tradition. We always get the Broiled Lobster. Jay, and staff, thank you again for a wonderful evening. Glenn Kerekes

Came here for a belated birthday dinner with a friend on a thursday evening at 6pm. The waitress greeted us immediately and let us choose our own table and was all round friendly and helpful the entire evening, frequently topping up our waters and even offering to help take pictures of us and our food. For dinner, we ordered the lobster trap platter which comes with 1 lb Lobster, 1/2 lb Alaska King Crab Legs, Shrimps, Mussels ($85) and also a seafood pasta with lobster, crab, and shrimp in a rose sauce ($35), both which were absolutely delicious! And to wash it all down we shared a 1L pitcher of red sangria, one of the best sangrias I've ever had (which they didn't skimp on the vodka) As for tips, if planning to dine here on a Sunday through Thursday, check Groupon first for a $20 discount on $50 spend and then add on an extra side order of Alaskan crab legs.

This place was a real surprise! After reading some not so great reviews, I was a little anxious coming to this place. It turned out to be an enjoyable experience. I came here with a few friends using a groupon deal that allowed us to get $75 worth of food for less(groupon value $37). We ordered the oysters to share, lobster bisque and a 1 lb of lobster broiled that came with the option of a side, so I of course, ordered fries. The oysters were decent and a good enough size to share. The sauce that in came with paired nicely. The lobster bisque was amazing! I loved it. The flavours and thickness of the bisque was perfect. The lobster was also delicious, I preferred it broiled but they also had it steamed. Overall, I really enjoyed this dining experience and our server was very nice too! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some lobster.

Wow. Is what I thought after finishing my meal. I have been eyeing this place after seeing pics on a friend's FB page. So I decided to pick up a Groupon and try it out. I am so glad I did. I got the small steamed mussels in wine sauce to start, and it was so tasty and a good sign of things to come. We then got 2x 2lbs lobsters - 1 broiled with fries and the other steamed with garden salad. Well let's just say they both were extremely good!!!!! Dipping the lobster in garlic butter was amazing. You could taste how fresh it was. The service was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back to probably try an even bigger .

Well we went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary to the lobster trap. We arrived a little before 530 and the chef actually came out to seat us as the wait staff weren't starting til 6. Let me tell you this was perfect as he took the time to mention what was good that night and recommendations he had. We decided to share a lobster bisque to start and my wife had some escargot. Sorry forgot to take a photo of the bisque but it was amazing. Very creamy and lots of tender lobster meat in it. My wife said the escargot was good but nothing special. The bisque is amazing. The chef mentioned they were out of filet and would substitute with the N.Y. sirloin instead if we ordered the surf and turf. He mentioned he could do the same on the lobster and king crab platter. So we got the 2lb lobster 2 12oz NY Sirloin and king crab and he was able to also substitute the white wine garlic muscles instead of the shrimp as my wife doesn't like shrimp. The prevention of the platter was very nice and everything was pre cracked to make the dinning experience easy. They do give large lobster crackers if you need to do more damage. The waitress came by right at 6 and asked how we enjoyed the appetizers. The service was great and the steamed lobster was cooked to perfection. The ample hot butter and garlic bread also made the dish enjoyable. I highly recommend this platter. To our surprise the chef game us a free dessert even though we were stuffed from the large meal. Yes we took home a full steak and some muscles. The cake was a white chocolate raspberry that was excellent. We will be back again soon. They made our 25th wedding anniversary dinner very memorable. Thanks again

I was so disappointed with this experience. The lobsters are definitely not at weight. No I did not have a scale but I can tell you that they were NOT to weight. In fact, I would bet dollars to donuts that they were pre-frozen. We ordered whole steamed, 2 lb lobsters with tamale and roe. Lobster came halved and cleaned out. When we questioned it, staff argued that it was not cleaned. Then the "lobster connoisseur" came to our table to tell us that "every lobster is different. He then brought us bowls of previously frozen roe. To make good, I assume, he brought us an additional small lobster, uncleaned. After questioning, we were hard pressed to see our server again. As a side note, the baked potatoes were very small and the garlic bread was horrid. Just one last thing, before we were done, as in, forks and knives in hand, we were asked if we needed take out boxes and then we felt as if were rushed out. Upon exiting, we went to see the live lobsters in the tank there was so much crud in there we could not even see them.

I really enjoyed my time here! Unlike the new seafood restaurants that are all about the sauce and messy eating, this is more of a sit down and stripped down meal (think of a simple steamed lobster + butter). When we arrived for our booking at 7pm, the table was not prepared yet (we had a group of 14 and the tables that were for us still had guests eating there). Initially I was very unhappy about this, but the waitress apologized and even provided our party with two complimentary bottles of beer, and a round of shots for everyone towards the end of the meal. About 10 minutes or so later, we were seated and promptly served. The lobster bisque was a big bowl of oh SOOO creaminess, had lots of lobster bits and lobster flavour; it was completely satisfying. I ordered a 1 lb broiled lobster -- it was delicious with the garlic butter (they add real garlic pieces into your melted butter for you!--so many yums), but I found the lobster to be a little overcooked and was tougher than I'd like. I also had a side of baked potato and they provided me with as much bacon, green onions, and sour cream as I wanted to add. Garlic bread was very good too, but compared to Lobster Royale (our previous go-to lobster restaurant that has unfortunately closed down now) it was not made with fresh garlic; just garlic butter spread on top. Overall it was an enjoyable meal, service was very generous despite not having our table prepared on time. I personally prefer Lobster Royale more, but since it has closed down for a couple years now, Lobster Trap will be our new go-to lobster place.

Lobster bisque soup! Perfectly balanced. Best I've had!

This is my favorite seafood place in town. I had stream lobster, king crab legs, mussles, and Shrimps. For apperitezer I had the lobster bisque (the best I've had) and half a dozen oysters. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided great suggestions. Next time I go I want to try a pasta dish and I will definitely be having the lobster bisque soup!

I frequented the original/former location many, many times as I was growing up and as an adult. I took my boyfriend for his birthday to show him what a lobster experience is and this place was as good as ever! Maybe even better since the service was impeccable. Shout out to our server named Reza who was awesome. Don't hesitate to eat at this place because it's amazing. Also to all the bad reviews....y'all are whack this place is amazing.

I had an amazing experience here with my sister. Jay was our chef and server. The server got into a car accident so Jay had to take over both roles. We honestly felt like VIP. Jay was so pleasant, had such a great attitude and was so kind to us. The food tasted so delicious. My sister ordered the 1/4 broiled lobster. I ordered the seafood pasta. My pasta was really good. Jay put a lot of effort and time into making the food and serving us. He made the experience such a great one. Thank you so much, Jay. We will be back again

Coconut Butterfly Shrimp, they have got to be in my top 5 of favourite foods. These ones are well cooked, served hot and crispy.
    Roger M.

The seafood is great, the steak and chicken too. But it is the Lobster Trap - you really should have the seafood. The Coconut Shrimp is fantastic here, big shrimps, cooked perfectly, crispy coconut coating and a sweet tangy sause. The service is professional and polite, the decor is a dressed down fine dining atmosphere. So you can dress up if you want - or not. Price is reasonable, maybe $30 per person. Its a nice night out.

The food looks good, but it's overcooked and bland. They need a new chef with "30 years of experience". Terrible. Money wasted.

DELICIOUS & AUTHENTIC SEAFOOD ITALIAN CUISINE…read more I made reservations a few days in advance and was told that only the heated patio was available. But I knew this place was a gem when they called back the day after to inform me there was a cancellation and was now able to move our reservation indoors. I loved that! FOOD: - Complimentary bread tasted nice with the tomato sauce. - Calamari e Gamberi Fritti ($30) tasted so fresh and delicious! For a fried appetizer it wasn't too heavy between sharing for two. The portion was hearty for two and the size of the calamari and shrimp wasn't small. - Captain's Caesar salad ($15) tasted great as we expected for a Caesar salad and also fresh! It was also a good size for two. - Sea Bass Branzino From the Grill ($39) was a great choice! The garlic-lemon butter sauce was incredibly paired with the freshness of the fish and intensified the whole dish. I chose the side option of risotto blanco which was also a perfect pairing! - King Crab Papardelle ($46) was another great tasty choice! It came with multiple pieces of crab legs which were halved. The sauce and texture of the pasta was amazing! - Tiramisu ($13) was the best tiramisu I've had. I love a tiramisu with a strong espresso taste and this one did not disappoint. SERVICE: Our server was very attentive and friendly, as well as the other staff members that helped us out! AMBIENCE: The restaurant is within the same building as their market/grocer. A family-friendly Italian establishment and very hospitable greetings. The smell of fresh seafood even makes it better. I'd definitely return and try out more of their seafood and pasta dishes! And of course their Tiramisu.

My husband being a seafood lover was super enthusiastic about this place, as San Antonio also offers a decent selection of vegetarian food. We got the table, things looked fine and until we kept waiting for our server to come. He came and left the menu only to return when we called him and trying to ask him for suggestions. Understand the menu items but he just responded i will come when you are ready. So we just ordered without any inputs. He wouldn't come to us even once to ask hows the food, do we need anything else. We kept calling a server, serving near by tables. That guy was decent, he practically should have got the tip from our table. Our designated server passed us each time and kept serving other tables. There was sampling ( Italian liquor) for each table, he preferred to skip us or even talk about it. We felt humiliated and frustrated as even after spending 150 bucks, you are not treated respectfully or even neutrally as a customer. But again the other server was as good as any good service offering restaurant would have . I dont think should mention food here. I habe addresses far more important issue here

I noticed a wall full of photos of some previous patrons, some of which were celebs which was cool. We ordered the set dinner for 2. First came the miso soup and salad, which were pretty standard. Next was the with assorted tempura, a couple of shrimp and 4 veg. They were ok, not very greasy and had the usual veg, but the batter was not like typical tempura batter I though and lacked the airiness and crunch. Next came the 10pc assorted sushi/sashimi. Fish was decent. But the portion size for 2 people was kinda small. 3pc Sushi, 3pc Sashimi and 3 California rolls, in total was not enough for 2 people. Then came the teriyaki beef. The meat was slightly over cooked was and there could have been more of the glaze. Next was grilled Mackerel. It was cooked well I thought. My friend didn't have any because she thought it smelt too fishy. To finish we had the standard ice cream. I chose the red bean and my friend had the green tea. Cost was $60.00 and thought it was overpriced for the amount of food for 2 people. There wasn't enough in the sushi course. Our server was attentive and friendly though, coming to refill our tea frequently. There was nothing too wrong with this place but I wasn't overly impressed either. We ordered the seafood platter and it came loaded with fried chicken strips, shrimp, fish, and more. You really do not see portions like this anymore for the price. The highlights for me were definitely the chicken and fish. Considering this is a quick service restaurant, I was surprised at how good it was. The inside was moist and juicy while the batter stayed crispy and crunchy. Service was also very friendly, and although the food took around 10 minutes, it made sense because everything was made to order. There are only a few seats inside which is pretty typical for this kind of spot, but there is lots of parking which makes it easy to visit. Definitely worth checking out if you want big portions, solid fried food, and great value.

Visited Captain D's Seafood Kitchen as part of Yelp Elite Event. Took me almost an hour to travel…read morehere, but I love seafood and was quite excited to try the place, especially the crabs. The place is easy to find and ambience of the restaurant is quite easy going. Most importantly, it is neat and clean. Upon entering we were greeted warmly by Arin at the counter. However when I told him I was visiting as part of Yelt Elite, he was confused. I guess he has just started working here, nevertheless he was professional and reached out to Harmeet (Chef) in the kitchen, who immediately took charge and took my order. We ordered the Deluxe seafood platter (spicy) which came with 2 hush puppies, 2 stuffed crab shells, 6 butterfly shrimps, 2 fish fillets along with 2 sides( we got corn and fries) The 2 hush puppies were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were quite delicious. I was quite excited about the 2 Stuffed crabs, but they were a huge let down.It felt too doughy with almost next to none of crab in the filling. The fries were hot and crispy and the fish fillet were quite delicious, with the outside batter covering being crispy and inside being soft and moist. We had ordered the spicy version, but it wasn't spicy at all. The 6 butterfly shrimp were best of the lot. They were delicious all the way through. The corn was hot but for some reason it was too chewy. We had to give it a pass. We also ordered the Supremely Sampler, which is simlar to the seafood platter but here instead of 2 stuffed crab shells you get 2 chicken tenders. And let me say, the 2 chicken tenders were wonderful. Infact they were better than all the seafood we tried. They were crunchy, moist and flavorful.. To foodies: If you can travel, and love seafood, especially butterfly shrimp, hush puppies and Fish fillets, do give this a try. The staff is welcoming and kind, which I believe is the best part. It is definitely a good place to visit and try the food atleast once. To management: You have a wonderful staff. However the food falls a bit flat and below expectations. The spicy versions aren't spicy at all. The Stuffed Crab needs a complete recipe makeover. The Chicken is pretty good but you being a seafood restaurant, the seafood items needs to stand out. Also, pls reconsider the location. Right now tucked far away in the corner. Overall rating: 6.7/10 Signing off Rahul V.S. aka CanIndian Foodie
