Made the drive to see what hype was about and did not disappoint! Shack tots were hot, crispy, delish! Got the two protein combo with kalbi and shack chicken. Mac salad for the side for the combo. Got a side of poke because why not? And was a decent portion for a side! Everything came out hot (except the poke obviously) and can easily feed two people. Very casual vibe inside and they have merch you can purchase. The menu prices listed on here are not current. I think each item cost about $1 more now. Loved the service! The lady was super friendly and seems like she knew a lot of the regulars.

I've been to Aloha Shack 3 times and have always been impressed. First two times I got the Kahlua Pork nachos and the patty melt and they were both delicious. But this last time I got the kahlua pork tacos with cheese as the tortilla and it was PHENOMENAL. Eat it while it's hot and fresh. Cannot recommend enough. I also always get the special tator tots and dip it in the garlic mango buffalo sauce which is my favorite Buffalo sauce ever, island bbq sauce is also yummy. Lots of flavor here. Hawaiian vibes inside the shack and always friendly service.

Great food, the Mac and cheese is one of my favorites, the chicken wings have great flavor and the teriyaki chicken very moist and lots of flavor. The service is friendly. Cute Hawaiian decor, love the pictures of the Ohana, feel the love.

I really like this place. I had pancit and kalbi ribs. I also had a side of rice, mac salad, and cabbage salad. My husband shared his tots with me. The pancit was good but not my favorite but I loved everything else. I also got a hat that says samoan. Very nice anniversary dinner with my husband. The staff were very nice. The artwork was nice and the seating was ok. The restaurant was super freezing especially on a rainy day.

Came in on a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. Came here specifically to try the lumpia because it had been so long since I had some. The Lumpia was decent but the real star was the chicken wings with ono sauce. Ono sauce is a mix of sriracha, honey, and sesame sauce and it was so delicious. Not too sweet and not too spicy. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. My husband got the loco moco and he enjoyed that as well. If I'm ever in the area again I would for sure stop by for the wings!

Hidden gem! Resturaunt is very clean and was playing great music walking in. I ordered the pancit and it is probably the best pancit I've ever had and that's hard to say growing up on it. My wife's teriyaki vegetable chicken bowl was also delicious. Staff was showed much aloha! Will definitely return and have to try some awards winning wings. Don't miss out on this place. Much Mahalos to the owners of this shack

10/21/2023- Whew a long day trip, driving Donner Lake through 89 North to looping back around to 395.. Hungry as heck! So glad we stopped.. Ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice and Mac salad.. Always hits the spot!

This is my favorite Hawaiian BBQ in Reno. My favorite is the shack chicken. It's crunchy and has a wonderful sauce on it. For me, it's not too spicy. It comes with your choice of macaroni salad or cabbage salad. Haven't tried the cabbage salad because the macaroni is my favorite. I've always gotten takeout, so this the first time I've eaten here and it's pretty clean including the bathroom. Staff is pretty friendly even when we have takeout. Only bummer is they're closed on Sundays and Mondays. All in all I recommend this place highly.

Looking for a new lunch spot while on the job, Yelp pointed me in the right direction of Aloha Shack. There was actually a line of what looked like coworkers getting ready to place their order. Everything sounded amazing. I ordered the shack chicken and was torn between that and the Chicken Katsu or the chicken terriyaki. I had to order some lumpia too. I'm used to other Hawaiian places in town having Hawaaiian sodas as that hits the spot but they just had regular drinks. I ended up spending close to $30 (steep for a lunch) but everything was delicious. I place a tip but I guess since I got it to go I was called to the counter. I would definitely come back as the portions were heaping and everything tasted wonderful.

Normally, when we come into Reno we always eat at our go to place. This time I felt like we should try something different. I suggested Hawaiian food. This place was off the beaten track but decided, based on reviews, it would be worth the drive. We arrived to find the place is more like a hole in the wall place. There was nobody there so we were hoping the reviews were true. Upon entering the place is pretty basic with some Hawaiian decor and an area where trophies were displayed. You walk up to a counter to order. We asked a few questions about what she recommended. We decided to give 3 things a try, the Chicken Katsu, The Shake Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken Veggie Bowl. Be prepared for your paying screen to ask for a tip but be aware you are walking up to place your order, getting your own drinks and bussing your own table. Tip or don't tip based on that. We sat down and waited. Food was ready in about 15 minutes. An employee brought our food in to go containers, brought napkins and forks. I've had Hawaiian food in different cities. My Katsu was very good but not the best I've tried. My husband liked his Shake Chicken, a generous portion given, but Hawaiian food isn't something he would ever suggest eating. My daughter's Teriyaki Chicken Bowl was great according to her. I actually didn't know that the Teriyaki Chicken bowl with veggies had rice at the bottom because I would have gotten that instead of the rice and macaroni salad that comes with the other entrees. We did have the employee ask how everything was which was nice. During our time there, there was at least 10 to go orders picked up and 2 other table of people sat down. I do recommend people in Reno, who want to try Hawaiian food, give this place a try. As for us, there are too many other places to try when we are in Reno unless we are in that area.

One of my favorite joints in town. Bonus points for it being family owned. Only downside is that it's way up off of Red Rock so I don't get them nearly as often as I'd like. However that's a small price to pay for always having great good and experiences. Another bonus is that they love to do specials here. I've always got my couple of go to items much of anywhere I go. But if you're a joint that has specials on deck I love it as a way to keep my experiences new and fresh no matter how many times I visit! Aloha shack itself is tucked into a tiny plaza just off the freeway. The lobby has a small dining area that can handle a few individual parties of people who wish to dine in. But most of the times I've been there takeout seems to be the more popular choice. They have a mostly open kitchen so you can see the grill and fryers in action. I always like open kitchen cause it satisfies my inner child's curiosity to watch the food being prepped. I really enjoy everything they serve here. I'm a sucker for chicken katsu, I know it's simple but it's a comfort food for me. I think my favorite thing here is Chris' 5 alarm chili. I could eat that stuff all day. And be warned if you don't like spice. I devoured it and it had my nose running but it was soooooo good! Do yourself a favor and make the drive. It's worth the trek. It doesn't hurt that the owners are amazing people as well

Manila Hong Kong Store and Kitchen falls firmly into the second category, and honestly that's exactly what a Saturday morning Filipino breakfast calls for. My family and I settled into the cozy, casual vibe without any fuss. This is not a place trying to be anything other than what it is, a neighborhood spot serving solid Filipino food at prices that don't require you to file a damage report afterward. We ordered tocino, fried bangus, and pork sisig, all served with rice, the way the Force intended. The tocino was sweet and caramelized in the right way, the bangus was crispy on the outside and flaky inside, and the sisig brought enough sizzle and flavor to round out the whole spread. We split a gulaman sago drink, which is exactly the kind of refreshing choice that makes you feel like you made a good decision even before the food arrives. Nothing on the table was going to earn a Michelin star, but everything was satisfying and made with care, which is a more honest measure of a good breakfast anyway. The store side of the operation is worth a browse too. Wide selection of Filipino market items, the kind of ingredients and snacks you're not finding at a regular grocery chain. My partner found a few things worth taking home, so the trip pulled double duty. Five stars for being exactly what it promises. Good food, fair prices, and a room that feels like someone's nanay runs it, which in this case is the highest compliment I can offer.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with all the different stuff they have here for your Filipino comfort foods. I could not hold back on certain items because I knew I wouldn't be able to get them unless I drove 2 hours to Sac for seafood city. Pricing wise , I really can't tell as I do not go to Seafood city much, but I personally think the pricing here is decent especially with everything they have on inventory. It is pretty clean , organized , and easy to navigate certain sections. I also like that the restaurant is right next door if you are hungry and want to grab a meal. However I do think their selection is pretty limited with the basic: sinigang ang baboy and Longinisa with garlic fried rice. Also keep in mind if you are getting the sinigang it is about $17. Like I said, probably the closest store you will get to a seafood city and pretty well stocked of items. I do recommend checking this one out .

My mom ordered their Daing ng Bangus but sadly they ran out so they offered Tilapia to her which still made her a very happy customer. She also ordered Calamansi Iced Tea and said it was good. I ordered their Pork Adobo and that was very delicious, not too salty. I also ordered Pancit Vegan and Lola's Lumpiang Gulay for us to share, all were perfectly made. I really loved how the food was presented, it felt like a fancy Filipino food almost; very presentable. The waiter that catered to us was very friendly. He accidentally spilled water on my daughter but he quickly helped with the mess and he was quick to give when I asked for sauces and boxes. All is well.
