We got Kokos for takeout recently and loved it! They have a large menu with so many options and way to customize your order. I went with the tempura shrimp bowl and my husband got a poke bowl. The tempura shrimp was tasty, the batter was light and crispy. I wish I had gotten more toppings because I had a little too much rice left at the end and not enough toppings, but that was my own fault. It was a pretty solid serving size for only being $13! My husband was very impressed by the large size of his poke bowl. It was $18 which is pretty standard for a poke bowl but this one came with so much more than what you get at other places, including 5 scoops of protein that you can mix-n-match! He eats a lot and could barely finish this. Both dishes came with a side of miso soup. We split an appetizer of pot stickers which were hot and lightly fried. We got some boong uh pang for dessert which are little fish-shaped pastries filled with red bean paste, custard cream, or Nutella. We got Nutella this time and they were the perfect little treat to cap off the meal! We only ordered one but they came as two minis. Our total was $50 for everything listed above which felt like a great deal for the amount and quality of food we got. Nobody else was in the restaurant. and after 20 minutes they tell us "pets not allowed" I said, "we called ahead" and she said that was a misunderstanding. I then asked "why would you wait 20 minutes to tell us . the rude lady's reply, "we were helping other customers". I said, all that would've been needed was a quick "hey no dogs allowed" when we entered the door. She was completely rude. I will never return again. This is the first visit since they've changed from Koko's Kitchen to Bowls. We order at the counter, building your own bowls, in Poke style. We, a party of three, had all different bowls, and everything was great! The staff was really kind, and the attention to details, making sure we get freshly prepared food at the same time, is wonderful. The bowls are beautifully presented, the spicy bulgogi is flavorful, picked daikon is crispy, and the brown rice is perfectly cooked. Also the portion is just right. I loved everything about it! We will be back, and next time I'm definitely trying the Korean waffle sweets (the Korean version of Taiyaki, I think). read more

This place was absolutely amazing! Chongsuk was so incredibly helpful and patient since it was my first time! She helped me decide on the Spicy Pork Bulgogi! It wasn't too spicy and had an amazing texture! I also tried the picked radishes and even though i'm not a fan of normal radishes these were the so delicious and added an amazing texture! It also came with a side of miso which was pretty good! Inside was also so pretty and incredibly clean! I'm so glad i decided to come here! I really enjoyed the ambiance here, felt very welcoming and the little paper lanterns were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and the food was prompt. I got a teriyaki chicken bibimbap bowl and my husband got a beef bowl, my son got tempura shrimp (the appetizer) and a side of miso soup. Everything was good! I liked the selection of toppings offered. The pickled daikon and kimchi were both crisp and flavorful, next time I'll ask for extra! My husband's beef was very delicious, well seasoned and had a great overall flavor. My chicken was a little on the under seasoned side, and I feel like I couldn't really identify the two sauces I asked for. I also think my crispy toppings were forgotten, or I definitely needed more because I couldn't find them in there at all. The tempura shrimp was great, fresh and crispy and all three of us enjoyed the miso soup! The wasabi I got in my bowl had an odd flavor I didn't enjoy and the crab salad had a fishier taste than I'm used to, so I might skip those next time. We tried some of the special sodas offered and really enjoyed them, especially the strawberry cream one! My husband was already trying to figure out how to order a flat of them Overall this seems like a great spot. We are moving to this side of town so I'm sure we will be back. I've gone to koko's a few times. Both to go and dine in. The last time I visited I was with my best friend since it was down the street from my parents house in the north west area. It was on a weekday around lunch time but I was surprised it wasn't busy, there was one table finishing their meal and another order was for pick up. I ordered the spicy pork bibimbap which came with Kim chi and soup for my sides. The pork was nicely marinated which gave a little bit of sweet and spicy tones and the pork was tender. The veggies were fresh and crunchy and the egg was cooked to perfection. Kim chi and the soup gave balance to the bibimbap. We noticed there was dessert offered which we ordered 2 different fillings to try: Nutella and custard and we were not disappointed! They were made fresh and when we received it it was hot! Service was good, the same person that took our order checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing ok, which is appreciated. We spent about $52 with tip with my order, my friends order, and 2 desserts. The food is made to order and you are able to see them cook behind the counter; your clothes and hair will smell like the food being cooked, unsure if the fan or exhaust isn't strong enough. I hope this place continues to thrive in our community because their food is consistent and the service is always great! Today I ordered take-out over the phone (and picked up in person) for the first time. Koko herself helped me immensely with the order; She was very patient/kind with describing the different meal options. I ordered a Lunch Special Bibimbap that consisted of White Rice, Pork (regular), Kimchi, Cucumber, and Seaweed Flakes. Absolutely Delicious!!! My dad selected the Chicken Teriyaki box and stated it was Sensational. Also, the cashier (I do not know how to spell his name but maybe Minh) was very friendly and personable to me. I got a yellow tail bowl with the rice and greens - if you're like me though and essentially want your bowl to be a salad with some rice definitely ask for extra greens, mine was more of just a whisper of greens haha. After my failed attempt, (last time they were remodeling), finally made my way. I love Korean food (as you can see I have to get my Korean fix when I go back to Sac).. Five stars for inside and the decor. I also love when there is background K-pop music or Korean drama on the screen! Service was friendly and attentive. Menu was simple, and easy to chose from. My oldest son has been a sushi chef in Sac. So I always remember him saying most restaurants serve frozen potstickers, egg rolls etc.. so I don't usually order any appetizers unless they are in the ayce places.. Ordered the beef Bulgogi.. and the presentation was nice. Flavor of the Bulgogi was decent and the meat was not chewy.. I debated a few days on my rating, because I am really glad Reno is starting to attract more Asian restaurants.. but... it just wasn't a "wow" experience food wise... The value for the food is higher which I could pay $3 more and get my ayce at my other Korean restaurant.. with unlimited banchans.. It's been quite a few years since I've been to a Korean restaurant. I'm kind of picky as I spent any nights in Seoul Korea, and I love the street foods. I decided to give this place a shot and I was not disappointed. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. They told me to choose where I wanted to sit. The waiter offered me drinks and I ordered a bottle of sake. I have not had cold socket before but it was refreshing. What I ordered: Bottle of Jinro Sake Beef and pork Bulgogi (meat lovers) Shrimp tempura The place was not that busy, so the food arrived fairly quickly. The Korean style barbecue was really delicious. It was tender, and they gave a lot of it. The plate included a portion of fish cake salad, Cold potatoes, A small portion of some type of egg omelette, kimchi with daikon, white rice. It was immediately apparent that the kimchi was made fresh here. Very delicious, not too spicy. One of my favorites was the fish cake. Nice flavor and had some bean sprout salad? Portions were very large and I had plenty left over to let my kids try. Five start all the way. Great service. Really good portion size. Delicious. Very fresh. read more

First impression of Koko's was that everyone was so nice! The staff was upbeat and attentive. We were quickly seated and ordered a couple appetizers: gyoza and japchae. The gyoza wasn't super special but I thought the sauce complimented the flavors well. The japchae had good texture and the mushrooms in it were delicious. Next we ordered 2 meat dishes. FYI if you choose the Meat Lover's (2 choices) one of the choices CANNOT be short ribs. Because of this we chose one plate of spicy pork and one of short ribs so we could try both. Each dish came out in a bento box style tray with rice, the meat, and several different banchan including kimchi, pickled radish, spinach, fish cakes, potato salad, and an orange. We also got a bowl of the soup of the day: a broth with tofu and peppery flavor. Overall I was quite impressed! The meats were tender and very flavorful. Get the perfect bite with rice, meat, and kimchi all on your spoon and have a sip of soup in between. I felt full and satisfied and felt the portion was very reasonably priced. I hope in the future they expand their menu some more because I'd be excited to see what else they can do! Seems like the perfect place to have appetizers like tteokbokki, kimbap, or wings. I was immedigately greeted and asked if I would be dining in or for take out. I decided to take my time and enjoy a dine in experience. I was informed that the water is self-serve and was guided to the where the water choices are. I studied the menu and was excited to see they had lunch specials. I went with the teriyaki chicken lunch special. I also noticed a dessert option- in which there was variety of flavors, I inquired about this as it stated to order ahead- there was a nutella one so I let the waiter know I would like these and was given the option to order after my meal. I really enjoyed the dish found everything to be flavorful and decently priced. It was a clean establishment as well which is important. This place is my absolute favorite! My go-to order is the beef bulgolgi bowl (with a mix of the spicy Korean and miso garlic sauces). I LOVE their kimchi, and how you always get a side of miso soup. I haven't had the poke bowls, but my friend said hers was fantastic. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is cute and welcoming. Most notably, I've always had great, attentive service. You're seriously missing out if you haven't had Koko's yet. This is the exact kind of local spot I'd love to see more of in Reno. read more

Koko's is a small cute Korean spot. Walking in you're greeted by friendly staff, cute decor and TV's playing K-dramas. While eating my meal I was invested by the K-drama that was playing. From what I gathered a King has been diagnosed with an illness and suspects one of his trusted council members has poisoned him *GASP... and he tries to find out whodunit! Anyways back to Koko's food. I really was craving soup but they only serve their soup in large pot, big enough to feed a few people. So I went with the Bibimbap instead. Bibimbap is a Korean Rice bowl. You pick your choice of protein, and its on a bed of different types of yummy veggies. They also add a Fried egg on top. They offer a spicy house sauce or teriyaki sauce as a binder (I used both) they leave the sauces on your table so you can put as much as you want. Mix this baby up and it tasted beautiful. Very happy with my meal. The meal also came with a side of house soup. It was a little bland for me, but I appreciated having the warm broth on a cold weather. Boyfriend tried some and said he'd order this next time we come. Boyfriend got the Chicken Katsu Lunch special. He liked the Katsu but didn't care too much for the sides that came with it. He mentioned that it was just the right amount for it being a lunch special. We felt so lucky coming here and feeling like we were back in Korea! Serve yourself Boricha (Korean Barley Tea). Families speaking in Korean and enjoying time with their Halmeoni (Grandma in Korean). Authentic food. Soup being cooked at the table. Seoul street camera playing on the TV was awesome because we were able to see all the street art again, subway stations we took, and the hotel we stayed at as the person walked around the city. This was a very immersive experience and made us feel at home. We missed this restaurant while they were closed this summer and are happy they've returned. The customer service is great here but i'd have to say it isn't really authentic and kind of reminds of Babs Cafe but with bigger portions. I ordered Tempura Calamari and that bad boy was good. The sauce for the calamari paired wonderfully with it and was really good. I also ordered Japchae but it was nothing to write home about and just normal Japchae. For the main course I decided to try Spicy Pork Bibimbap and it wasn't that great. Not a lot of flavor at all and wasn't feeling it. My other half ordered Teriyaki Chicken Bibimbap and it was the same, flavorless and that really was disappointing. Maybe I caught them on a bad day and maybe not but that was my only gripe with this restaurant but other than that the portions are big and you will need some to go and the service was great! read more
