Signature Hawaii BBQ Mix and Beef Dumplings
    Celeena S.

What a surprise in the area! We came based on the reviews and enjoyed the meal! The restaurant is in a strip besides Domoishi with a general parking lot for all the businesses in that area. The restaurant is quaint, colorful, and made up of a few tables / booth seating. You order at a kiosk but a worker does manage the front area as well. I got the Signature Hawaii BBQ Mix and I loved it! Protein, rice, and Mac salad. The meat was tender, flavored well, and appropriate for its cost. I also got the beef dumplings and they were very tasty, moist, and not dried out! A casual, clean, vibrant environment respective to a Hawaiian feel. I will go back and definitely will try the wings!

I been meaning to try this place, and finally got to do so. Firdt when you walk in it has nice clean colorful theme, and service was spot on. Let's get down to business. Lol I ordered the "Short Rib Combo". The combo comes with rice, macaroni, coleslaw and your protein. The combo was pretty big. The rice was cooked perfect the macaroni salad was tasty and also the salad , but a little disappointed on the short ribs. They we're more like tiny riblets, and not much meat mostly fat. It was tasty, but not worth the extra cost. Now the cool thing is it's connected to another restaurant where you can order your bubble tea drinks. Just go to the back and follow the path. I will definitely come back, but definitely order something else! Peace of tidbit...if you have allergies (peanut) definitely ask, cause I think there are some dishes that have peanut sauce.

Ok first of all I must admit I just returned from Hawaii less than a week ago so real Hawaiian plate lunches are still fresh in my mind. My friend wanted to go so I said k-den let's go! With that said, the ribs (galbi) were decent but really cut weird; so much so that one could get tiny fragments of bone. The katsu was ok but a bit on the dry side; if I just hadn't had been in Hawaii I probably would have scored it higher. The fried rice wasn't really what I expected (see pic) it just was rice with some soy seasoning. Not authentic at all. The Mac salad was very familiar and tasty. The service was a bit slow but acceptable and the place was clean. The decor is typical of a Hawaiian themed place outside of Hawaii- a bit tacky but done tactfully. I would go there again and probably score it much better especially if I haven't had Hawaiian food in a while. They do have Hawaiian sun drinks so I guess that is a big plus. It is worth a try.

got the LocoMoco ($14). It was two burger patties served with gravy, eggs, fried rice., and cabbage. The gravy was good albeit on the salty side but was good with everything. Eggs were cooked to an over medium and oozy when opened. The portion is the highlight of the food as it's easily two massive servings. Basically elevated mall food. I did feel weighted down afterwards just by the amount of food here. Overall a good experience and would come back for a quick and easy takeout Hawaiian place. Food(50%): 7.2 Staff/service(25%): 7.0 Value(25%): 9.0 Overall: 7.6/10

So I love Hawaiian food and was so excited to see this location right there next to the hotel my family and I were staying at. Here's the problem though, there was no mention of nuts being in the gravy used for the loco moco and my son is allergic to peanuts. While I do take blame for not asking, I am just utterly surprised there were no signs anywhere indicating nuts were used in any of the dishes.

A great airy and bright restaurant. The service was quick and friendly. The food portions were HUGE. Very tasty and well seasoned. Such a great taste. The signature Hawaiian drink was very refreshing and tasty too. Love this place will return to try other items for sure.

Was highly recommended by my brother to try this place. I was visiting and decided to see what the rave was about. This place being probably one of the only Hawaiian foods in the area, I went back twice over the weekend because it was so good. The Food: I went with the "Signature Hawaiian BBQ Mix". This includes chicken, beef and short ribs with some rice and mac salad. All the meats were incredibly delicious! The meats were full of flavor and incredibly tender. The mac salad tasted really good as well! And as for the portions, the plate meals are huge and so fulfilling. The Service: Service was great! Staff at the front were friendly. You can order with them or at the tablet they have. Food comes out in a timely manner as well. The Atmosphere: Nice and open space. Clean, with plenty of seating to go around for small or big groups. Overall, a 5/5! Great food, friendly staff and huge portions! Highly recommend Alohahola! I'll be back again for sure.

Alohahola is amazing and honestly one of my new favorite places to eat! It's very clean inside and the service was great. I like the decor and the layout of the restaurant. Probably one of the best things is when you order on the iPads there are pictures of everything. The menu is easy to navigate but the pictures are very helpful in looking at the dish. The food has a Hawaiian theme which means that there is a sweet flavor to it. Everything I had was absolutely delicious and I also loved the pasta salad. I am very picky with the macaroni pasta salad but theirs was great. The chicken and beef were both cooked perfectly. The cabbage was a nice added side with good flavor especially from the meats on top of it. The spring rolls were also delicious. I was also looking at other peoples food and I was highly impressed with every plate I saw. If you leave hungry you did something wrong because these servings are very filling as well. I can not wait to try this place again and try something new. Again if you are in the mood try this place, it's probably one of the best new places in the Richmond area to eat.

LOVED this place!! Tried it for the first time today, didn't have many customers but the inside was super clean and nice. Ordered the hawaii bbq mix which came with a little bit of everything and it did NOT disappoint! The entree had macaroni salad, different meats, and some cabbage which was amazing. I also tried out the honey garlic wings, they were good but not my fav. However, very crunchy which i appreciate. Also loved the cute little tote bag they give your food in!! Super surprised not many people go there but def will be coming back to try out other stuff!

I'm so glad we finally have a Hawaiian restaurant here!! The food is delicious and the portions are massive at a great price. The platter was enough for two meals and it was only $16. The chicken was tender and the shrimps were great. There's cooked cabbage underneath as well. I wish I had known it'd be so saucy cause it spilled in the bag during transport. The mac salad is seasoned well, though I wish the macaroni itself wasn't cooked as soft as it was. The spam musubis were $8 for two which is a bit steep given what it is but sometimes you've got to satisfy a craving. I can't wait to return! I ordered in person through the kiosk and the wait wasn't long at all. They also have online ordering.

The amount of food was unbelievable!! Very good and well worth it!!!! Also the fruit tea is very good. Will go back for sure !!!!

My family has frequented this spot almost weekly since it opened because the food is so good, but they've recently made changes to the entrees like replacing their sautéed cabbage with a stringy raw cabbage and offering a new bento box style with much smaller portions, but for the same price. I really miss the previous presentation and hope they revert back to what made them so popular!

I normally love coming here, which is exactly why I am so angry and disappointed writing this…read morereview. I had been telling my Dad for a while about how fun this place is, how nice everyone usually is, and how much I thought he would enjoy it. We were finally able to come together today, and he was genuinely excited to see the inside and have breakfast here for the first time. As expected, we were told the wait would be about 45-50 minutes. Fine. The place was busy, as it usually is, and we had absolutely no problem waiting. I spent years working as a server and hostess. I understand busy restaurants, long waits, and tables that don't turn as quickly as expected. After waiting about 40 minutes, I went to the host stand to simply ask for an update. We had watched people leave and groups continue to be seated during our wait, so I wanted to see where we stood. The young man at the host stand told me it would be ANOTHER 40-50 minutes. I genuinely thought he had confused our name with someone else's, so I explained that we had already been waiting for 40 minutes. He told me our names were "at the bottom of the list" and that people inside were moving very slowly. No apology. No double-checking the list. No attempt to figure out how a quoted 45-50 minute wait had suddenly turned into an hour and a half. He didn't ask if we were willing to sit inside, offer another seating option, or even suggest placing a to-go order. Nothing. He was completely dismissive. So I handed him the menu and my Dad and I left. Then, just 20 MINUTES later--not the additional 40-50 minutes we had literally just been told--I received a call saying our table was ready. I tried to explain that we were no longer there and WHY we had left. The second I said we had "left," I was HUNG UP ON. Honestly, that was it for me. Before that phone call, I was actually sitting in the car telling my Dad that maybe we could try again another day. Despite being embarrassed and disappointed after talking this place up to him so much, I was still willing to chalk it up to a bad interaction with one host. Getting hung up on completely sealed the deal. I'm not angry because the restaurant was busy. I'm angry because we were treated like we didn't matter. I'm angry because we waited patiently for 40 minutes, politely asked one question, and were dismissed with inaccurate information instead of someone taking 30 seconds to double-check. I'm angry because when I tried to explain what had happened, I wasn't even given the basic courtesy of finishing a sentence before someone hung up on me. My Dad and I have lived in Lakeside for over 30 years. We weren't asking to skip the line. We weren't demanding a table. We weren't rude to anyone. We were two local customers who were excited to have breakfast together at a place I had genuinely loved and recommended to other people. We will NEVER be back. And yes, we will absolutely be telling our friends, family, and neighbors about how we were treated and recommending that they go somewhere else unless they want to risk being dismissed, given completely inaccurate wait information, and hung up on when they try to explain why they left. Apparently this place is busy enough that treating people with basic courtesy no longer matters. That's fine. There are plenty of other restaurants that will happily take our money and, at the very least, treat my Dad and me like human beings. What was supposed to be a fun breakfast with my Dad turned into one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a long time. I went from genuinely loving and recommending this place to never wanting to step foot inside again. Congratulations. You lost two longtime local customers in less than an hour.
