    Chaufa
    Jeanita O.

Service was great, and there was not a long wait time to receive my food. The restaurant was colorful and clean, but the meat in the Chaufa rice was scarce. The meat had been chopped to minced pieces of meat. That was a shame, since the Chaufa rice is around $13. The crowd was steady. I recommend this restaurant, but I recommend chicken, rice, chicken noodle soup, and beans, instead of the Chaufa meal. Check it out!

I had seen a few of these in the Raleigh area on my visit. The night I was staying at the Westin I walked over to this huge outdoor mall and found Aplaca and decided to give it a try. Honestly, roasted chicken sounded great. I had a difficult time understanding what the woman behind the counter was asking me. Thankfully, the young man cutting the chicken could tell me. The chicken is flavorful and moist. The rice is perfect and took me back to Peru. Place is order food at a counter, get a tray, pay for it and sit down. Bust your own tables. I was able to get a glass for water. Overall, I would come back if in the area. I wish I spoke Spanish to communicate with staff better.

Rating based on: consistency, cleanliness, quality, taste, and presentation YO FAMO, LET ME PUT Y'ALL ONTO ALPACA CHICKEN IN BRIER CREEK LIKE IT'S THE NEXT BIG META IN GAMING - THIS SPOT IS STRAIGHT FIRE AND EARNING THAT 5-STAR RATING FROM ME, NO CAP! As a food boss who's vibe checked spots left and right, this Peruvian joint is based AF - ambience super clean like a fresh wipe-down on your setup, and customer service? Impeccable, treating you like the MVP without glazing! It's giving extraordinary energy without any cheugy vibes, and the place stays packed but consistent like your go-to playlist! Now let it cook on what I smashed: That LOMO SALTADO? SHEEEESH! Stir-fried beef with onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, and french fries over rice for like $15-16 - juicy, scrumptious beef that's bussin' harder than a viral TikTok, no mid flavors here! The CHARCOAL CHICKEN (quarter white meat) with FRENCH FRIES and YUCCA FRIES? Magnificent and delicious, chicken so juicy and charred it's giving dope perfection - way better than any simp fast food ratio! Don't sleep on them SWEET PLANTAINS - luscious and caramelized like they ate and left no crumbs! The ALPACA PERUVIAN CHARCOAL CHICKEN? Same fire level, extraordinary tenderness that hits different! Washed it down with HORCHATA, that creamy rice-based drink with cinnamon - so rad and refreshing it's like gaslighting your thirst away! And the CHICHA MORADA? Dope purple corn vibes that's delicious without being too sweet! For the closer, that TRES LECHES CAKE? Sponge cake soaked in three milks with whipped cream - scrumptious and magnificent, portion so juicy you'd simp for seconds! Real talk, if you're sleeping on this for some cringe processed junk, you're taking an L + ratio - pull up, feast like a king, and thank me later! This spot is straight bussin' and based! Pro tip: Hit it during peak hours for that fresh-off-the-grill energy, and snag extra YUCCA FRIES - game changer!

I've tried this place a few times and it has always been solid. They have daily specials which provides an opportunity to try different menu items. I've had the chicken tacos ( good but a bit too much liquid inside. It dripped out like water, but the chicken was flavorful.). I've also tried the chicken dish with the rice and sautéed veggies. Again, solid. No fanfare. The plantains were good with nice caramelization. My mom seemed to enjoy her steak dish as well. It's definitely on the better and healthier end of fast food. Service is fast and friendly and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and easy parking. I want to try the half chicken and a few other menu items so I'll be back. Oh. They give you French fries with just about everything. The only problem is that on some of the dishes they put the other menu items on top of the fries making them soggy. So yeah.

I've been to alpaca plenty of times, first time at this location and it was busy for a Wednesday night . I just got the vegetarian plate and upgraded two of my sides to premium. Line moved quick inside but they are a bit pricey for the vegetarian plate it was $11 and some change, I enjoyed my food like always.

I wish I could move this restaurant into my house. I had dark meat half chicken, plantains, and tres leches cake. The green sauce with the chicken sealed the deal. Best chicken I've ever had. This place is beyond amazing.

Absolutely looooove this place! I came here on a Wednesday and ordered their Special of the Day - Chop Chop. It was so delicious, the only bad thing is that it's ONLY on Wednesday's! But a great restaurant nonetheless and always busy, that's how you KNOW it's good.

Delicious chicken at this outlet of local chain. The store in Briar Creek is sleek and modern. About a dozen tables inside. Salsa music plays just a little too loudly, decor is bright and colorful. Service is cafeteria-style, food from the service line is collected at the cashier; food from the kitchen is delivered to the table. Service is quick and friendly. The chicken is cooked rotisserie-style over charcoal. Skin is gloriously crunchy with just a hint of the charcoal smoke. Meat is juicy and tender, cooked perfectly. The quarter chicken is a breast and a wing; enough for lunch, but you'll want more for dinner. There are many sides to choose from, I selected rice and beans and plantains. A ladle of long-simmered, perfectly seasoned black beans is served over scoop of sticky white. Delicious, though could have used a sprinkle of chopped onions. Plantains, one of my favorites, are glazed and fried to sticky, sweet perfection. If you're craving hot, fresh, perfect rotisserie chicken, this is your spot.

Great chicken spot! Super flavorful and filling, loved the side options. Very reasonable price. Healthy and good quality meal! Would recommend.

I met my boyfriend up here for lunch yesterday. This location is much smaller than the one I frequent in Garner. I ordered the 1/4 white chicken with yuca fries and rice and beans. My boyfriend ordered 1/4 white with fries and corn. When I was ordering I felt rushed by the employees working behind the counter. When I sat down to eat, I realized I was given dark meat instead of white. I was bummed but I didn't feel like complaining so I just dealt with it. The rice and beans and yuca fries were excellent. But from now on, I'm sticking with the Garner location.

When we arrived, we had to take some time to decipher the menu from afar. The staff weren't very friendly or helpful. The two guys at the counter were looking at each other and laughing as we were ordering, which was rude and uncomfortable. We checked out and I ordered an horchata and my husband ordered an Inca cola. The process went through and then he was told they were out of Inca cola even though there were bottles and cans around the kitchen, just not cold. They wouldn't offer those, I guess it was for display only? Checking out took forever because they had to issue a refund and they didn't know how. I did enjoy the chicken, especially with the yellow sauce, though I enjoyed the green as well. The sides were just okay. My husband's pollo saltado was delicious but the chicken wasn't the same as mine, which mine was much better. The horchata was really good. I wasn't crazy about our experience here but we might try the one in Wake Forest one day and see if we get better service. We definitely won't be back at this Raleigh location.

I am Peruvian and I've eaten at the Mi Peru restaurant in Durham a few times and I always liked it, it was too far for me though. Once I found out another Mi Peru opened closer I had to try it. For starters the strip mall where it is located is not the nicest location. The restaurant itself feels a bit old and not very clean. I was about to leave but I decided to take a chance. We ordered a few dishes to share: ceviche, chicharron de pescado, arroz chaufa, aji de gallina and seco de res. And even desserts : Alfajor, tres leches and crema volteada. Food overall wasn't bad, I actually liked it, it wasn't amazing but not bad at all. The service on the other hand was terrible, there was a young guy and a young girl who had no idea how to wait tables, we were missing silverware, we had to ask for plates and glasses, .... That duo was a mess. They seemed too occupied flirting with each other than caring for the 2 tables that were occupied. Anyhow, when we got to bill I noticed that an 18% tip was mandatory !! 18 % for the terrible service I had received, that was really unfair. I paid over $180 for 5 adults and 2 kids and terrible service. Up until that point I was determined to leave and just give this place 3 stars . But then I decided to go to the bathroom and on my way to the bathroom there was a cockroach in the hallway, that was disgusting so I moved quickly into the bathroom. Inside the bathroom under the sink there was another cockroach !!! I almost threw up wondering how many cockroaches are probably running around in the kitchen!!! It is sad for me to post this as a Peruvian but I care more about the safety of the people and the reputation of the Peruvian food. My advice to the owners of Mi Peru.( the original ) which I respect. Don't destroy your brand, close the restaurant and fumigate it completely, then remodel it, clean it, hire better waiters and then reopen. Or pick a nicer location if possible. I am not coming back and will advise everyone I know not to go either.

I ordered passion fruit juice and it took me to my childhood, when my mom would make fresh, pure juice, no sugar added! The food portions were perfect for the price, I even had enough to take home for my dinner. The ceviche leche de trigre was also on point, very similar to what I have tried in my trips to Peru. Now, the location almost made me turn around. There was glass and trash on the streets and it didn't seem like a safe place. Luckily, management informed us that they are going to move due to this. Hopefully they will continue having great food, good ambiance, and a better location.

I came with my family ( 4 of us ) this weekend. First of all the location and the parking lot area are not appealing at all, looks a bit sketchy from the outside. On the inside it is clean but it is a bit confusing, it seems that there is a Peruvian restaurant during the day and a separate business as a Dominican club at night so there are different signs on the outside and the vibe inside is a bit off. So we could probably say that the location is a hole in the wall. Anyhow, sometimes you hear that the best food is served in a hole in the wall, we'll that is true here!!! I have to say that they probably have the best Peruvian food in the area!!! The Mostrito Parrillero has everything you could expect ( anticucho, pancita, corazón de pollo, molleja, chicken, potatoes and a great sauce ). Texture and flavor is the best I've had in a long time. Then I ordered the Trio ( 3 dishes in one). The ceviche was well prepared, the fish chicharrón with the "acebichado" sauce was delicious, sadly the Chaufa was not so good in my opinion, I could find better. The fettuccini a la huancaina was also tasty and well prepared. The Lomo Saltado that came with it was very good, the onions and tomatoes where perfectly cooked, onions were cooked but still crunchy. Sauce was great, not too salty as you find in other places, just right. The meat was just ok in my opinion, meat would be a bit softer ( lomo should be a softer cut ). Then I got drinks, the passion fruit juice was delicious, the chicha was just ok, needed some lemon and it was not cold. Service was overall good. They kept refilling our complimentary "cancha" appetizer and giving us "leche de tigre " to taste. A couple of things I didn't like is that they don't offer drinks by pitcher only by the glass and at $5 each adds up pretty fast so they should offer that as an option. Also something that I didn't like is that they automatically charge you a 15% gratuity no matter how big is your party. I don't agree with that because tips should be dictated by the service and not an automatic add on. Where is their incentive to improve the service ?! My in-laws went the same day and they also complained about that. When it comes to pricing I believe it was a bit expensive. Even though the food is very good you are being charged same as in restaurants that are located in a nice area and have amazing service. I don't think the prices match the overall experience. Too bad we didn't have any room for desserts, I definitely want to try their picarones which according to them are made from scratch so yes I will definitely be back. I may probably just order food to go next time though as I didn't enjoy the location and I don't agree with their tipping policy. Finally, I was told by a friend that their "alfajores " were not good, kinda like the hard ones that you find at Alpaca and not the soft and crumbly ones you can get in Peru. Maybe they need to find a different supplier for those. Anyhow I am definitely coming back and look forward to try all the other dishes they have !!!

It also feels like we aren't eating super unhealthy when we pick Alpaca. The chicken is always tender and juicy, and the portions are generous for the price. What really completes the meal, though, are the sauces. Make sure to get both the yellow sauce and the green (spicy) sauce. They take everything to another level. The store was very cute, with a large stuffed llama near the check-out desk. The restaurant is chipotle-style. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. I would definitely come back for my quick fix, but I would probably skip the sauces.
