Safelite sent a guy to my place of work to replace a 16' Silverado windshield. The short and sweet…read moreof it is, Safelite was cheaper than the local competition and I didn't have to leave work for the repair. The guy did a great job and he was fast. This was the second windshield I've had to replace in this truck(bad luck I guess) and the first time I went to a local mom and pop shop. The only reason I tried safelite was because my insurance company recommended them. Geico said "if the crack is smaller than a dollar bill, Safelite would repair it for free." Well, the crack was alot smaller, but it must have been a big rock because there was a white spot the size of a quarter from the impact. The tech said he could seal it if I wanted but it probably wouldn't last the winter, so I bit the bullet and had it replaced again. They fixed my truck for about $15 cheaper than the local guys and for the first fix I dropped my truck off so the bill didn't include travel cost. Most times I would rather support the local businesses but this was a win win. Stay at work while saving money.

I am not the kind of person to leave a negative review about a company, but the absolute…read morefoolishness exhibited by Safelite Gaylord, in MI has prompted me to do so. The following scenario took almost three weeks to play out. I contacted my insurance agent because a truck kicked up a stone and put a good ding in my windshield. As frustrating as that was, I am fully covered so my agent contacted Safelite and a repair was scheduled. Prior to the actual repair they emailed me a "what to expect" video (which was great) and the video detailed that the chip/crack wouldn't be gone after the repair, rather it would look like a milky spot, or as I thought like hot glue dabbed on my windshield. Since the area was the size of a quarter, they said this shouldn't be a problem, and I was fine with that. After the first repair technician left, I looked at the repair and it didn't look any different, but the sharp edge was smoothed over, but nowhere near what the video portrayed. When I showed it to my agent, he agreed that it was unacceptable, and called them to reschedule another appointment, this time for a full replacement, and not a spot repair. On the morning of the replacement, I received a call that the windshield that was shipped to them was damaged, so they had to order another one, and asked once again to reschedule, which I was happy to do, because things happen. The replacement day was set for a Saturday, at noon. So, the technician showed up on time, we had a quick chat, and he started working, and was done in about an hour. Just after he left, I went back out to look at what he did one last time and noticed that the little covers that go over the mounting hex nut were missing. These cover the anchor point (nut and bolt) where the wiper arm meets the motor that moves the wipers when activated. My truck is eight years old, and I would have noticed these silver hex nuts when I was cleaning and polishing my vehicle. I know they were there because they were perfectly clean, and not rusty or corroded in any way, so that told me that they were indeed installed prior to the technician arriving. Again, no biggie, so I sent them an email (with a photograph) and asked them to have the technician return them asap, because I don't want those bolts/nuts exposed to the elements, which could cause them to rust and seize. I didn't receive a call, after waiting one business day, so I called on Tuesday morning and spoke to customer service and was told that they couldn't help me until the following Saturday. I explained my concern for the bolts rusting, and said that timeframe wasn't acceptable, and that all they have to do is drive 25 minutes from their location and drop them off, that's all I wanted them to do. She said she would have to contact the local manager, and that the Gaylord office would call me. After an hour he (manager) did call and after I explained what happened, he said that he looked at the photos made by the service technician and that both covers weren't there when he came. I reiterated that they (nuts/bolts) were in pristine condition, and there is no way they wouldn't show some sort of rust if they had been exposed, but he refused to replace them. I then asked him to email me the photos, which he said would be time stamped (as proof), and I agreed to look at them. To his credit, he called me after they arrived, and explained that the images weren't time stamped, but he said they (covers) weren't there, and that I should trust him because these parts are notoriously bad and fall off all the time. He even suggested that I look at other trucks in large parking lots, and I'll see what he's saying. I told him that the images looked like "after" shots to me, made by the technician showing the completed work. I really didn't accept that excuse and asked him to send someone out to replace them, and that I'm sure the technician just left them in his pocket, or rolling cart, but he refused. I just ordered replacement parts, that cost me $30, all because Safelite Gaylord doesn't stand by their work, and worse yet makes excuses for a simple mistake. Customers shouldn't be treated this way, and I hope you all reconsider using them.

It's clear that there is excellent Leadership and it shows in every part of every experience. I've never been taken care of better by any Auto Service Provider. I can't recommend these folks any higher! Thank you for everything you do and have done for me and my family. Finding a quality, trustworthy Auto Service Provider is one of the toughest parts of moving to a new town. Thank God I found Brad and his Team when I moved to NE MI 7yrs ago. I've taken five different vehicles here for service over the years. One of them was a BMW M5 Wagon which no one up here other than the Dealership in Petoskey wanted to touch. Brad and his Team never said no and solved my problem every time I took that car in for service. I've never had to be concerned about quality, pricing or my car being done on time. Thanks to everyone at the Gaylord Belle Tire!

This was after it took 3:30 to get them installed with an appointment a few months ago. If you value your time at all buy a a local shop. Sure you will spend a few dollars more but I've already given these people over 6 hours of my life and I've only now gotten my first rotation. The math is simple by the time I'm ready for new tires I will get 3 more rotations. That is two full days of work. You do the math.
