TL; DR: Quick, clean, fresh, delicious, well-priced I'm writing this review a few days after visiting because the place was so good. By the time we were done fixing our coffee, our orders were ready to go. The pitas taste like they are made by the order--probably the best pitas I've ever had. From the olives to the feta, the flavors were spot on and not over bearing. We were very satisfied; my wife said this would be her favorite place if we lived in the area. The host/cashier was very helpful even though we came in during a little rush, and she was being pulled seven different ways. If I had to provide any criticism, it would be to add one more pita to the hummus orders or give out less hummus. I went back and bought two more pitas to get through the hummus. Greek food in Waco!!! Wow...our bartender at George's suggested we do dinner at Alpha Omega, and we are so glad we did. The sauce sampler was amazing and carried a very reasonable price. We tried multiple things and none of the components of the entrees were good. We got a fish gyro and an overpriced platter. Nothing tasted fresh. After being disappointed with our first purchase, we decided to get a second order of falafel, which the restaurant cleverly names "chick pea balls" as they aren't a classic falafel at all. The fried balls of chick pea were slimey with a "raw" consistency in the middle. Nothing about this was Authentic Greek or Mediterranean. On the plus side, the restaurant's ambience is nice. I was so utterly disappointed with our meal. I have never ever been to a restaurant where the servings were so meager every single person on my table left hungry. I ordered salmon and the piece was so small And thin it was served with a small amount of rice and 3 pieces of small broccoli. The food here is really good, the desserts are even better!!! I've ordered the lamb Gyro, the steak Gyro and the fries. Both Gyros were very good! However, I was quite surprised that they chop the lamb, like a chopped beef sandwich. Such a great chicken gyro and my boyfriend always loves to get the ribeye gyro and the hummus.

Went back for an early lunch on a weekday. It was last Wednesday. I had the chicken gyro. My husand had the Greek salad. The chicken gyro was delicious. The pita was very good. My husband's greek salad was ok. The one disappointment was the hummus with vegetables plate. The hummus itself was served in a little silver dish, and it was quite good. However, the sliced cucumbers and tomatoes on the side were very old. The cucumber slices were dry and battered looking. They looked like they had been in the refrigerator too many days, particularly the cucumber. The tomato slices were big, but bordered on mealy. Service was prompt. I suggest the counter help (guy who took our order) be a little more friendly. He seemed like he was already tired or something, and it was only 11:30 AM. The atmosphere is nice, lots of tables and an outdoor eating area. Also the price is right. It was about $24 for the two of us. The desserts are fabulous! So I raised the stars on my review. Next time I would just ask what vegetables come with the hummus dip, and maybe ask how fresh they are or if they look good today. Overall, good job Alpha Omega! read more

I stop by this restaurant today with a coworker first time being here, we both had the lamb Gyro which was shredded lamb meat, tomatoes, Parsley, and onions wrapped in homemade pitas with to tzatziki sauce. The homemade pita was really good but the lamb meat was really dry it lacked flavor. I had a side of feta fries, the fries were really tasty seasoned perfect I will recommend next time for anybody wanting fries just leave feta off because it does not stay on there so you're literally trying to scoop the cheese with the fries trust me the fries are good by themselves save the extra money. They also offer military discount. I will definitely give this place another shot next time I think I'm going to try the ribeye and maybe also the pork gyro. read more

I ordered the lamb gyro and was very disappointed to get down the road and open up a pork gyro. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was good, but I paid for the lamb and had my heart set on it. This is a much needed addition to downtown Waco! The gyros are relatively well priced and very good. The Greek fries were good as well but the portion was pretty small. That being said, I threw in a side of hummus and was definitely full by the end. Along with the food they have a selection of baked goods and also serve gelato and espresso. Stopped on the way down for Greek since my girlfriend was craving it. We ordered the chicken gyro, spanakopita and Greek salad. The restaurant was very nice inside and staff great. However two food items bothered me a bit. 1) The tzatziki tasted really off. Looking/tasting it there is a distinct lack of cucumber in the sauce. In addition I don't think nearly enough dill was used. Finally it was a little watery in texture which surprised me. 2) The spanakopita appeared fried which I wasn't expected. I wasn't very impressed with that. I would have much preferred it oven baked like it traditionally cooked. Outside the above the salad and gyro were fine. The feta tasted like it was made right then and there. And I got a baklava (cake) which had layers of almond-y paste and super thin flaky pastry. Choosing a favorite part of the meal is near impossible because it was all so good, but if I had to choose my favorite part would be the baklava. I was excited to see all these positive reviews on this place! I haven't had "real" Greek for many years. I grew up with many Greek and Italian friends. This place disappointed big time. The food had too much flavor where it didn't belong and not enough flavor where it was needed. The gyro was bland and the pita was heavy with oil. I visited my little brother in Waco and he brought me here because he had so many friends who rave about this place. Meh. Thats a generous summation ^^ ... see, we walked in and immediately were overwhelmed with some vinegar-y smell. I mean OVERWHELMED to the point that, while we waited for our food, we both got sick to our stomachs. It didn't help that every now and then we would get a waft of something burning. I have no clue what was happening in that kitchen, but the thing that sticks out the most in my memory about my experience is undoubtedly the smell. As for the food, it was okay. The hummus and pita were fresh and authentic, but lacking a "wow" factor. The lamb gyro was okay. It was, again, fresh, but I wasn't a fan of the married flavor. The baklava was the best part for me and even that wasn't up to par with other Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. (It was much to dry, in my opinion). Mediterranean food is some of my favorite and I have high standards. I ordered the Greek salad with "lamb gyro meat" and it was not good. I've eaten here two other times and ordered different items; the ribeye gyro and chicken gyro. Both decent, nothing to rave about... But the lamb... Yikes. At first it doesn't taste like lamb but then if you succeed at getting it down (so to speak) it kind of does. The food is enough to come back, and I can't truly base their entire menu on one gyro. I got a lamb gyro and fresh cut fries.
