I've eaten here quite a few times and told others they should try it out too. I've always been very happy with the quality of the food and the cleanliness. Today was a little bit of a surprise, and I hope it isn't the norm. I ordered the chick pea balls, which I expected to be a little bit like falafel. I also had rice, hummus and a drink. All of the food was disappointing except the hummus. The usually tasty rice was bland, the chickpea balls were basically very greasy balls of bread dough and a little bit of seasoning and the fountain drink had white floaties. I was very disappointed. If I hadn't had such a good experience in previous reviews, the score would have been lower. I hope this was all a fluke. read more

3.5 star on my first experience here. The location is clean and had a pleasant urban feel. The menu was easy to read and the prices were not bad. It seems to be popular lunch place and was fairly full but we had no problem getting a table. The food presentation was well done and the service was friendly. Here are my reasons from dropping the star rating: 1. My beef gyro was not a gyro, it was a taco bell ground beef taco in a big puffy shell. Kind of greasy too. My friend had the lamb and it looked much more like a real gyro. I would have to try another option. 2. They have lots of options like hummus, dolma and falafel for $6. But they could easily set them up as a side for the gyro or even create a lunch where you could choose a couple of each. That would greatly improve the menu. We got the greek salad which was pretty good, nothing really extraordinary about it just the average greek salad. Then we had the ribeye gyro with feta cheese fries. Now if we would have just gotten this it would have definitely been a 5 stars. It was nothing but perfection! Everything was seasoned very well and full of flavor. Lastly we had gotten a fry platter, which was okay, but not really our cup of tea. The day we went it was fried cheese, zucchini, and chick peas. The fried cheese was probably my favorite and the only one I enjoyed eating. Again that dish just wasn't for us. Will definitely be coming back for another gyro though! read more

This was my first time eating at this establishment and I would return in a heartbeat. My husband and I ordered the Lamb gyro and enjoyed it! My bread could have been cooked a tad bit longer but definitely not anything that would stop me from returning. The salad was fresh and the dressing was just enough. The fries were seasoned wonderfully, too. We really enjoyed the fact that we could order at the front, it seemed more convenient. The customer service was wonderful! If you like Greek cuisine then this is pretty much the only place in Waco to get it, and it does not disappoint. Alpha Omega has a great lineup of gyros that includes a really tasty ribeye gyro. They also have a really good pork gyro platter which is served on a plate instead of wrapped in a pita. One of the appetizers that we like is the fried cheese balls (might go by another name) but they are made from 3 types of cheese and deep fried. They also have a nice selection of Greek salads. All of this and more is served in a clean environment with brick walls and interesting decor. They also have outdoor dining. My wife and I really like this place and can't wait to return soon. read more

5 stars all the way around for us today. Everything was fantastic. The flavors were on point with beautiful presentation. We had the 3 sampler, but didn't want to leave the fourth spread out so we tried them all! The award winning ritinitis pine aged wine. My friend and local, Waco winery owner enjoyed it, it was not my favorite, but most aren't. The Papoutskia was wonderful. We were encouraged to try the Greek fries by another diner- they were fantastic! The only thing we didn't enjoy was that even as it was take away style, we really liked Noel and wanted her to be our waitress. She was so helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and of the wine selection. Still giving them 5 stars though!! The more I try this place, the worse it gets. Twice now, i was given the wrong food. When I asked about it, staff argued about it. Showed the manager on duty - who said he was also the cook - and he agreed that it was the wrong food. Next two times, we ordered the Babaganoush because we had liked it in the past. Guess they changed the recipe; it was very salty and had a heavy olive flavor. Tried the baklava again, and it was still thick and heavy instead of light and crispy. I give up. read more

For the record this happened back last June 2019 and my real stream of consciousness review was never published til now for legacy purposes (and humor in retrospect)...I sincerely hope things are better now and doesn't happen to anyone again... Bait and switched...I hate writing negative reviews...now I consider myself easy going normally and try to be positive always, but when it comes to food, and advertising, if you're going to advertise and describe a dish a certain way, then please serve the dish in that way. Simple, right? It was in the evening and the young gentleman at the counter shows us the specials of the day, nice, laminated prints of today's specials with description. I was having a hard time deciding and what catches my eye and stood out is the zouzou******, "Greek meatballs served over mashed potatoes.." You had me at meatballs over mashed potatoes and that's what I ordered. So for like $10.50 I don't think it's not unreasonable to expect Greek meatballs over mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, I got my dish it was more salad and pita bread than meatballs and instead of mashed potatoes was a bed of rice. Now I like rice, but if I want rice I will order rice. You sold me X, don't give me Y. It's the principle man. I wanted mashed potatoes tonight! I go ask the guy at the counter, "Excuse me, but did you run out of mashed potatoes for some reason today, because I got rice..." He nonchalantly said something to the effect of "sorry man, I forgot to mention the fact it was not going to be mashed potatoes at all." and didn't even try to offer me something to make up for the fact. There would be benefit of the doubt if there was any doubt, but it appears they knew full well it wasn't going to feature any mashed potatoes but he still let me order it. This unfortunately ruined my experience that evening even though the meatballs were in fact delicious. I had the shrimp Gyro, pork Gyro, fries, fried chickpea balls Greek salad, horned pastry filled w cream. You order your food, pick your table, get a number then wait for your number to be called. You pick up your food, silverware, napkins and drinks at the pickup counter Pros: - Homemade pita bread that actually has flavor - Full Gyro, there's no skimping here - The food is priced reasonably. You won't get a flavorful Gyro like this in Waco for $6 anywhere but here - Salad was crisp and a vibrant green and the dressing was the perfect amount - ALL of their deserts are homemade from the pastries to the fillings to the gelato, ALL are made in house(this alone will have me going back) - they have a coffee bar, Pinewood Coffee, it smelled great, there were many espresso options. I did not try it but I plan on it when I go back for a pastry. - the food was hot and fresh tasting - the chickpea balls were amazing and very flavorful and the light white sauce that comes with it is yummy - SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE!!!!I don't care how good the food is at a place I will not go back if I don't receive inviting service. The cashiers took their time to explain what was in all the items that I asked about and even checked on my twice to make sure I was satisfied - bathrooms were spacious and clean - They have an outside patio which is going to be great now that the fall has started. I think they should decorate it a little more and I would love to see TVs outside to catch a game or even part of it. - Desserts are to die for! They are not overly sweet like many places around here and they just have a great flavor combinations, crunch, texture and they look great too! Cons: - tomatoes in the salad didn't have much flavor, hopefully they can source them locally - lighting: I like low lights and it could've just been that the sun was setting but I felt like it was too dark, maybe raise the lights just a smidgen - I personally don't like full slices of tomato or onion or olives in my salad, I had to cut it all up. I would prefer chopped toppings to make the salad easier to eat and share with my son -I wanted a glass of wine but they do not sell wine by the glass, I know this is to preserve waste but I wish they did wine by the glass -Everything here is ala cart which is fine and more authentic BUT if I'm going to pay extra for fries I would like at least a handful more than what we received. We loved this place and we will be back, I'll bring the husband because I think he's going to be pleasantly surprised! You have to check this place out whether you are wanting Greek, desserts, coffee, desserts and coffee or if you're just wanting something delicious that isn't going to kill your bank account. You'll go home satisfied! Suggestion to the shop, the food is very tasty, I almost wish y'all revered refreshing and artisan adult beverages. Walk up in here my taste buds went zero to 100 real quick. Best gyro my tongue ever tasted. OMG it was so perfect.
