Totally not cool and very unprofessional, especially since it's been 1 1/2 years since she has seen my dogs. How can anyone trust someone who does that? (Hence the lowered rating, I can't recommend that kind of behavior. They still do get two stars though because I always have admired what they were trying to accomplish there for dogs. I was looking for a boarding facility that was not your run of mill kennel set up that would be able to handle a behavioral German Shepherd with love and kindness. My neighbors referred me to Alpha Pet Dog Lodging & training resort. They have done one on one training with their dog and are forever grateful for the good care provided to their beloved when they travel. I did not actually take my baby there because it was full but the tips I received by Antje were very helpful and I look forward to working with her in the future. I explained some of the behavioral traits and she gave me the best advise. I highly recommend her as trainer. There are so many trainers out there and I can tell you as a person who has worked with over 10+ professional trainers that she stands out in level of expertise. Like many others, our two dogs are like an extension of our family. We don't take boarding them lightly. Typically we are able to leave our dogs in the care of our daughter when we travel, but recently we had an out of state family event that all of us would be attending. So, what do we do with our two dogs? We did an extensive search of the boarding facilities int he greater Los Angeles area. After interviewing quite a few over the phone, we visited those that seemed like possibilities. Oh my! The people that we met and the facilities that we saw were quite alarming! i was at the point of cancelling my trip and staying home. A client of mine mentioned that they had used the services of Alpha Pet Dog and were quite pleased. I called and spoke with Antje. I interviewed her and she interviewed me! I loved that! She welcomed us visiting her facility and I completely understand why. It was so clean, well laid out and climate controlled. I loved the fact that Antje is also a knowledgeable dog trainer. My dogs have their quirks, and I knew by the questions that she asked (more about that later) that she "got it" and that they would be in good hands. The fact that she limits the amount of dogs that she boards at one time was another plus for us. Once she "approved" us and we were coordinating our dogs' stay, she spend an extensive amount of time learning about our dogs before they arrived. It was such a thorough process! Unfortunately, I don't remember all of the questions, but they included such things like what are their nicknames for them (for some reason that one really touched me). She asked about eating habits, quirks, their health, and since we were boarding two dogs, how they interacted with one another and things to watch out for. While on our trip, Antje kept us updated on how they were getting along and even sent photos of their time in the exercise and play yard area. I KNEW that she really was involved and paid attention to them when they were in her care because she shared funny stories about things that they did. They were things that I hadn't mentioned (like my Jackson having the unfortunate habit of liking to poop on large bushes and plants - sorry Antje!), and also his habit of fluffing up his bed in the middle of the night. I don't ever like the idea of leaving my "babies", but I am so very happy that the next time the situation comes up that we have found the perfect home away from home for our dogs. We have tried other kennels and nothing else compares to Antje! My dogs love her, and the 1 who gets super anxious at all the other kennels, was barely anxious at all the second time we came here. In fact, he was jumping out of the car to kiss and greet Antje (in the past, he would have fought getting out of the car). Also, it is no more expensive than other kennels in my area (West L.A.), but my dogs get way more--more room (outdoors and indoors), more one-on-one time, way more exercise and play time, more treats, and lots of good and balanced discipline and boundaries. Amazing place to board a dog!! We have been coming here with our pup for over a year and she loves this place. I always like to see how my dog reacts when we pull up to Alpha Pet. My husband and I discovered Alpha Pet recently when we we took a 2 week trip out of the country. We have a beautiful and very sensitive female greyhound. We were not thrilled about the idea of leaving her in a traditional kennel for such an extended stay. In the past we have had friends and family stay with Adele, only to come home to reports of excessive whining and loss of sleep by all. We were thrilled to meet Antje and visit her training and boarding facility. We left on our trip with confidence that Adele was being cared for in the best possible way. While we were away we received several email updates and pictures of a very happy Adele. When we picked Adele up at the end of 2 weeks she was happy, energetic, and playful. She showed no signs of stress such as diarrhea, lethargy, or depression that often result from stays in a kennel. Antje worked with her on the whining and since she's been home the whining has almost completely stopped. We were very happy with the care Adele received, and in fact we have already made reservations for 2 more stays. Max the Wonder Dog is a rather large South African Boerboel weighing in at approximately 150 pounds. In spite of his size, Antje knew exactly how to handle a dominate breed like Max. She spends time with each dog daily, the facilities are clean and spacious, and well taken care of. I am so happy that we have found Alpha Pet for our boarding needs. This is the second time I've boarded my dog Barney there. Although It is a long drive for me, It's well worth the trip. I can sleep better at night knowing that he's well taken care of at this facility. He's not being taken care of by a bunch of teenagers walking around w/ water bottles that have no experience w/ dogs. I almost gave a shot to my dog that he didn't need. Antje (the Owner) took the time to explain why the shot wasn't needed and the reasons why. I appreciate the time she gives me when it comes to answering questions I have about my dog. Whenever we go on vacation, we send our dog to Alpha Pet Dog. My dog is now 10 years old and has been going to Alpha Pet Dog since she was about 4 months old. At that time we were seeking a Trainer because our dog was a very skittish. When we found Antje we were amazed!! She taught her commands and was very thorough about what kind of habits she had and how to fix them. There are several reasons why we choose Antje over all others. She's doesn't just board dogs, She's a professional trainer so we knew she was in good hands from the beginning. It's a very clean and quiet environment. It's not a Kennel. My dog gets her own themed based room with a doggy door that leads out to her own little private yard (that's a wow factor for me). Dogs play together or separately based on their personality in an area on her property. Antje will do an assessment to determine your dogs personality. Her property is large but very secure, so I'm never worried. Antje (the owner) is passionate about her work. My dog enjoys her stay there, its like a resort to her. This is the best place ever. Been bringing my pets here for about 10 years - right when Antje opened. Great for boarding and training. She relay cares for her "guests" and most important she is skilled in any possible emergency and has many connections with local veterinarians. Very clean and organized and is always ready to assist. Alpha Pet Dog is the best place to board your dog that I have ever seen. My dog stayed here for two months while I was on location, and on other occasions. Antje, the owner/trainer lives on the property, and takes care of the dogs like her own. I couldn't have been happier with the care my dog received. She even sent me photos of my dog! I've moved away, and I really wish I could find a place like this where I live now. Also, Alpha Pet Dog has the cutest rooms for the dogs! They are all decorated, and have wonderful beds and lounge areas, and the dogs have huge outdoor areas all to themselves. Those dogs who want to play can hang out with the other dogs, but even if your dog doesn't play well with others, they still get plenty of attention and exercise in their palatial apartments, or with Antje one-on-one. read more

I found Alpha Pet Dog during a frantic search on the internet trying to find this type of facility in our area. I had no idea at the time that Alpha existed, in that I have never left my girls (dogs) since I've had them. However, we are long overdue for a hotel vacation, so needed to find someone that would be able to provide a place that would spoil my girls much like I do. I originally met with Antje several weeks ago and was so impressed with her knowledge, and her facilities! I made the reservation on the spot, without hesitation. We dropped our girls off this morning and I thought for sure I would cry when leaving them (yes, I am neurotic about these two dogs), etc., etc. However, she made me feel comfortable, and, most importantly, made them feel comfortable, they did not appear overly stressed out, and were ready to go and play with her when we left. We leave on our trip tomorrow and I just know they will be fine and will come to love spending time at Alpha Pet Dog Resort (yes, it's a resort!).
