It is so odd reading these reviews. I have had numerous other alarm systems in the past and they…read moreare terrific. ADT was still in the 19th century with its products and services. There was none. You had to have someone walk you through how to DIY troubleshooting to no avail and then they charged a fortune to have someone come out. Xfinity was unreliable because unless you have strong internet and not a lot of things connected to it, it works. If however, you have multiple items using the internet e.g. TV, computer, phone, Alexa etc. The signal is weak. With Vivint, I have not had any problems, I love how I can see a video of someone pulling in my driveway. At night the lights on the camera go on and a sensor beeps while it is recording. It saves the video for 30 days and you can download it if you need to. I think people need to be there when it is installed to make sure of placement for inside and outside cameras. I'm not sure I understand the comments about wiring as the only wires that I have are for the outdoor cameras and the doorbell. It would be the same with any other company. As for the technicians, you can ask for an experienced installer. However, I have had a much worse experience with Comcast/xfinity installers.

The technician misrepresented the terms of the contract, so while they are protected it is criminal to pay over $1000 for equipment and 3 years of service while only benefitting from ONE year of service. There are too many other options for your security needs!

(1 Star) This has…read morebeen one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with a security company. I signed up with ADT 11 months ago because I wanted a complete home security package, including cameras, alarm monitoring, and a smart keypad door lock that I could lock and unlock from my phone. Within just a couple of months, the smart lock stopped working properly. I could no longer control it from the app. At first, I considered it more of an inconvenience than a major issue, so I didn't immediately call to complain. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. Since becoming an ADT customer, I have spent countless hours on the phone with technical support trying to resolve the issue. ADT has replaced my keypad door lock five different times, and after all of those replacements, they still have no idea what is causing the problem. Instead of fixing the issue, their solution was to remove the lock from my system, give me a partial credit, and expect me to go purchase and install my own door lock--even though the lock was included as part of the package I originally purchased. I found that completely unacceptable. When I signed the agreement, I purchased a complete security system--not a partial one. I asked if I could cancel my service and move to a company that could provide a fully functioning system. I was told that because the rest of the equipment works, I would still be responsible for paying the remainder of my contract if I canceled. I even asked a hypothetical question: if my cameras stopped working and ADT couldn't fix them, but everything else still worked, would I still be required to continue paying under the contract? I was told yes. Unless the entire system stopped working, I would still be obligated to pay for service even if a major part of the system couldn't be repaired. To make matters worse, several technicians told me they would return on specific dates, but they never showed up. The only way I ever found out what was going on was by calling ADT myself. This ongoing issue has also cost me money. I've had to purchase multiple copies of keys because the locks kept failing. There were numerous times we simply left our doors unlocked because we were tired of buying new keys while waiting for another technician appointment. I also purchased batteries five or six different times, trying different brands because I was repeatedly told the batteries might be the problem, when in reality the issue was the defective lock. Now, after nearly a year of dealing with this, ADT expects me to research, purchase, and install my own replacement lock just so my family can safely secure our home. The final straw came when a representative asked whether I had already scheduled an appointment to have their lock removed. I explained that I wasn't going to schedule a removal until I had purchased a replacement lock because, based on my past experience, their technicians frequently failed to return when they said they would. I refuse to leave my family without a functioning lock because of ADT's repeated failures. I have been far more patient than most customers would have been. I've given ADT numerous opportunities to correct this issue over the past 11 months, but instead of providing a working solution, they've shifted the burden and expense onto me while continuing to hold me to a contract. If you're considering ADT because of their smart home features, my experience should serve as a warning. A security company should provide peace of mind--not months of frustration, wasted time, additional expenses, and a system that never works as promised.

They do not care about customers, do not have professional technicians, and sweep issues under the rug, stringing you along long enough to get you past your 1 year contract with them. I still have faulty equipment, have had SEVERAL service calls, and still have 3 ongoing issues that I've had since the start of my contract, yet I am paying for a service that isn't doing what it is supposed to do: provide security. Seriously the worst authorized dealer, experience, and customer service ever. 10 out of 10 do not recommend. Use anyone else but them.

Elderly customers beware - predatory contract tactics…read more Vector Security has shown my family exactly how little they value elderly customers. My in-laws are in their 80s and living on a fixed income. They have one year left on their contract and are moving. When we contacted Vector to explain the situation, we were basically given an ultimatum: * Pay around $600 to cancel (essentially being forced to pay out the rest of the contract in one lump sum), OR * Move the service to the new house and be locked into a brand-new 3-year contract. No reasonable middle ground. No senior consideration. No flexibility at all. In my opinion, this is predatory and unethical, especially toward elderly customers who are simply trying to downsize and live within their means. Vector is fully aware they're dealing with people on a fixed income and still chooses to trap them in either a large fee or another long-term contract they don't want and didn't ask for. We asked about alternatives: * Could we transfer the remaining year to someone else? * Could we downgrade to a cheaper plan for the last year? * Could they reduce the fee given the circumstances? Every answer was basically no. The message was clear: pay up or sign another long contract. This experience has completely destroyed any trust we had in Vector. If you're considering them--especially for aging parents or grandparents--ask very direct questions about what happens if they move or their situation changes. Based on how my in-laws have been treated, I would strongly recommend avoiding Vector Security and choosing a company that doesn't exploit loyal, elderly customers with rigid, one-sided contract traps. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY- BEWARE.
