I went over the weekend and had a blast! We went for the Zip-line course, but the off-road Safari ride in a 6-wheel drive Pinzgauers was almost as fun as the zipping! There are 7+ zip-lines (several more coming soon ) totaling over 3500' . Platforms are 15' to 65' high in the trees and the zip-lines are 100' to 1800' long. The staff and guides were all very nice, and didn't even complain when we almost knocked them off their feet a few times on the landings! (Guess they're used to it) I highly reccommend it, and it was even raining! read more

If you're looking for some outdoor fun, with a little thrill, and no fear/worries of jumping out of a perfectly good and working airplane... Then this place should be on your to-do list. I had such a great time at the Alpine Adventures Zipline Tour!! So, for starters... keep your eyes peeled for this place. It isn't hidden, but for a small town, this place has a ton of activities so it's typically crowded (not bad) and there are little things to do, see, just about everywhere. It's on your left (coming from 93 N) and when I went there was one of those 6 wheel safari trucks parked out front. There is decent space for parking in their lot, but depending on how busy they are it can fill up pretty fast. But additional parking is nearby if needed. I definitely recommend making reservations/bookings online or over the phone. They of course allow walk ins, but I know when I went, there was only 1 slot left. So if it was your and friends you'd have to hope the next tour wasn't full, or be split up. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure there is a 24 hour cancellation policy, or they will automatically cancel and refund you for severe weather. Now that the stuff is out of the way, I can get on to the actual zipline stuff, man... thank goodness there aren't any crazy side effects (not as long as everything goes well I mean.). HAHA For the zipline they offer 2 tour types (as of 4 July 2008). The first is the Treetop Canopy Tour, and the second (newest) is the Sky Rider Zipline Tour. When I asked over the phone what the difference was she explained that the Treetop tour was a bit 'slower', and wasn't quite as high in most spots. Which would be good if you're bringing kids (there is a weight minimum/maximum - so check ahead of time for kids), or if you're not quite sure how you feel about heights. You know, if you and heights have been fighting, or had a recent break up, you don't want to rush down at 50 mph with heights... so the Treetop would be a good "day-date", which we all know is safer and more innocent. So, since my middle name is Adventure (ummm... don't check my birth certificate) I opted for the Sky Rider Tour. Which boast their heights and longest sip line (and yes... it really is both!) plus 2 side-by-side racer zips (which is great for snapping photos if you take a friend/date... date not counting heights I mean). From all of these lines you get great views of the local area, vast valleys, and mountain tops... it really is very scenic through-out the tour. You're final zip, on the Sky Rider tour, is an 80 ft drop at 40 to 50 miles per hour that will have your heart take a leap into your throat. It's great!! And totally put the ZIP in zipline. (LOL) If you're up in/near the area for vacation... or you don't mind a bit of a drive... I would MORE than recommend this place for your list of stops. I'm not as brave as my friends that went zip lining... so this review is about the off road safari. My hubby and I are afraid of heights so we decided to take on an easier adventure. the Off road safari takes you up the white mountains on some bumpy trails. Yes, VERY BUMPY trails. But it's tons of fun. You're in a 8 seater van, open top, open sides. And you get to enjoy the views while you're going up the mountains. Bring a poncho, cause you will get soaked if it rains. Our tour guide told us about the mountains and I don't know.. I honestly wasn't paying attention. I was too busy taking pictures of the scenery and mountains. We also made a few stops to check out the beautiful view and he took us up one of the Zip Lining bridges. That was fun and a bit scarey for us peeps who are afraid of heights. We had an amazing time for our first zip lining experience ! We did the "medium" level tour , not the extreme for our first. I had an awesome time. I could only take the Sky Rider because I was above the 220 lbs limit. They are serious about the 240 lbs weight limit. They weigh everyone before going. So if you think you look lighter but are above it, consider dieting before you go or you might forfeit your $$. I found out it is not because of the line, but because that is about the limit that their guides can handle. They are athletic guys, but not very big. I told them they need to hire some beefier guides, America is not getting any skinnier. I'm not a fat person, just dense. They also have a 6' 5" rule. I'm 5'11" and my feet whacked tree tops (did not hurt) several times so I could only imagine 7" more inches might cause a possible problem. It was a great adventure of getting an exciting 4 wheel adventure to get to the start of the zip lining. The guides were very entertaining and very easy to talk to. We went on 6 different zip lines and took us about two and a half hours. My only complaint is that the pace of the adventure. You had to sometimes a long time between zips. We had 11 people I believe in our group. Would definitely do it again and would diet so I could get below the 220 to do the super Sky Rider. read more

I went with my kids, niece, nephew, and sister-in-law yesterday. Only one of us had zipped before. All in all, we had a great experience. It cost $59 apiece for us since we did the shortest run; you might find Groupon or affinity deals available. I found the equipment and procedures to be top notch - a solid reassurance for first time cable hangers. The guides were personable enough. Everyone has their own preference for how personal and effervescent they want their guides to be, and I'm more on the friendly, reassuring, appropriately kidding around side without flipping into in your face chatter boxes extracting personal info then using it to be best friends. These guides made my cut. We chose the shortest route to fit into our day, and it worked perfectly. We got plenty of zip line time, and the whole check in to final gear drop was about 90 min, just as advertised. I'd give a 5 star rating if I had some way of comparing Alpine Adventure with other zippers, and then could say that they're better than their peers. But our experience was great, lots of fun, a few thrills, and very positive. Go and have a blast! read more

Cause I'm freeee, free falling! Just like the song. I had so much fun today at Alpine. We did the Sky Rider Zipline and I already forgot our guides but I think it was Sam, Mike, and Nick? They were so fun and energetic and it was early in the morning, so I respect that. We did the 9am tour and it was perfect because the weather was still fresh. This company runs great tours and has fun guides but their policies are way too strict and we lost $300 because of their inflexibility. Beware that you will not get any credit or refund if you fall sick and cancel within 72 hours or show up even 1 min late. We booked a zipline tour for 8. One of the kids got sick so we were right away out $200 because we had to cancel within 72 hours for that kid and an adult to stay with her. My husband was then 10 min late but tour hadn't left yet and they refused to allow him to join and then we were out another $100. We then finished 30 minutes early because we were a smaller group so they could have totally waited. It's too bad because they have great guide staff, but their policies and lack of flexibility will mean that I will never give them my business again. read more

Off road tour was amazing. There were 7 of us from grandmother to grand children with the family in between. I book based on the reviews but the reviews don't do it justice. Our driver was Allie from Shrewsbury and she drove that thing up and down the mountain just like a mass hole would. The bumps and turn and hills and rocks were of epic proportions. My kids and husband completed the "Thrillsville" rope course and had a blast. Things to know: you do not have to complete any portion of the course you don't want to, but I can see how it might be difficult to turn around and go back if there are a lot of people there. (We were completely alone!) My 10-year-old weighed in at 70 pounds and there was one section that he just didn't have the upper body strength to complete confidently. He ended up a little frightened, turned around, but then completed the rest of the course. (You can get to different portions of the course several different ways.) They were exhausted but absolutely loved the experience. For those who want to just watch--it's easy to walk beneath the structure and see the entire course from below. Be warned: wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty--it's a dirt lot and will be muddy when wet. Pros: Fun, different levels of challenges, FANTASTIC and helpful staff. SAFE! Their system was safe enough to make any nervous mom comfortable. Customers are literally fastened to the structure at ALL TIMES--even just when climbing a set of stairs. The system they use requires one cable to be attached at all times--it literally canNOT be unattached until the second cable is secured. (It's really cool--I've never seen anything like that.) In fact, when finished, you have to connect one of your cables to a carabiner on the staff member's gear. There was no way you could fall off. (Keep in mind, this does NOT mean you can't fall--my youngest misstepped and fell, but the cables kept him safe until he could regain his footing. I felt safe enough to record his attempt to get back on the ropes--quite funny!) Cons: Thrillsville is the most affordable of their options, but we will be returning for the more pricey zip line adventures in the future. No other cons that I can think of! Needs: sneakers probably best for climbing, not boots. Certainly not sandals! Consider gloves, even in summer, to protect from rope burns. Patience. Highly recommend! read more

I cannot say a single bad thing about this place. I've done the Super SkyRider tour twice in the past few years, and you really cannot go wrong with it. It's the only tour I've tried (go big, or go home, right?), but I wouldn't ever try a different tour--at Alpine or elsewhere--because it's just so good. The website says the Super SkyRider is extreme and only for experienced zipliners, but each time I've gone, most of the other people have been first-timers and/or younger kids. If you're seriously afraid of heights, it may not be right for you, but I wouldn't worry at all about it being too physically demanding. My abs and arms were slightly sore (in a good way) for a day or two afterward, but that's about the extent of it. All the guides I've ever dealt with have been a blast to be around, and they were all encouraging any time someone was scared and hesitant about doing a certain zip/climb. Alpine definitely does a great job at hiring the right people for these tours. As long as Alpine is still in business, I will continue to visit every few years. Hopefully in the future they come out with a tour that's even more extreme than the Super SkyRider! read more

He was a great guide who gave us some great info on the area, hiking and other adventures we should take with Alpine. Then I realized Peter Pan was a boy, Tarzan was not exactly hygeine-conscious, my boobs would never be big enough to fill out that wonder woman costume and joining the circus meant trading in the family dog for an elephant. After suiting up in the offices you'll take not one but two different vehicles to get to the course; an air-conditioned coach with leather seats and a hummer-ish all-terrain vehicle straight out of Armageddon. Way up in the mountains of NH, there are plenty of photo ops and endless lung-fulls of fresh air. The course itself has high and low platforms, long zips and breathtaking sights (look with your head, not our whole body, or risk getting turned around and zipping backwards!) Great time and great staff all around. We went zip lining for the first time and would highly recommend Alpine. Safety was top priority and guides were excellent. family friendly - our trip had people ages 8 to 50 and all did really well. i would recommend renting a go pro if you don't have one. they hook it up to your helmet and was well worth the $40. great quality video. we were visiting area and will be back for next level of courses be prepared to wear a harness and helmet. light walking required. also short ride from welcome center to the course and then a very cool ride up the mountain in a off road truck. enjoy read more

Im not one to give constant reviews, but I feel very strongly that I need to talk about my experiences with Alpine Adventures. I took my boyfriend on the Sky Ryder tour for his birthday. There was a thunderstorm warning, but we were assured that we should be able to complete the course before they rolled through the mountains. It was just the two of us on the tour along with the two tour guides. On the way up the mountain, it began raining heavily, but the policy is rain or shine and the sky seemed to be clearing up. So we proceeded down the first zip no problem. When we got to the second zip, the longest and highest one, my boyfriend went first. When it was my turn, it began to sprinkle and we could hear thunder in the distance. I was still instructed to jump off the edge of the mountain. Half way down the zip was when hurricane force winds and heavy rain began to blow me sideways and pelt my face. I was blown with such force that not only was I stopped dead on the cable, but I began to blow backwards all the way bak towards the mountain. Trees were literally blowing past me as I slammed back and forth on the air, suspended 400 ft over an open forest. And No one was coming to help me. I can honestly say that I feel lucky to be alive. That was the most horrifying experience of my life and I would absolutely caution everyone reading this to think twice before trusting that supposed professionals would actually pay attention to minor details such as a severe storm blowing right at us before telling me to "go ahead, that it might be cool to zip line through a cloud." Andrew, the tour guide at the bottom, actually acted exceptionally in this situation. He advised on his walkie talkie not to send me, and evacuated us down the mountain quickly as trees crashed down around us once I finally made it to the lading. I know on a sunny day with no threat of rain would yield an amazing zip line adventure. However this review is reflective of my own experience and it was hands down the absolute worst i have ever had. read more

So if you decide you want to be adventurous and do nothing else in life, this is something you must absolutely do! Ziplining! Now, I've done ziplining before and I can honestly tell you, this was even better than the last time! You'll definitely want to sign up for the Sky Rider zip since it's higher up (~200 ft.) with the longest run at ~1200 feet. They take their safety very seriously here. The guides here were entertaining and love what they do! There's about 4-5 guides for every group that goes out. And they actually use a wooden brick for your brake instead of letting you self brake yourself which is what I did in the past. The problem with self-braking is that a lot of people tend get nervous and brake too early and end up having to self-rescue themselves which can be time consuming and well quite simply exhausting. Here the only thing you have to worry about is which way to steer your carabiner to determine which way you wanna face to see the amazing view. You'll even get to race on 2 of the zips if you want. While my zip time here was shorter than my last since it was only about 5 zips between trees, the height and distance certainly made up for it. So instead of a 3 hr trip, it was about 1.5 hrs. I can't wait to come back and check out the Super Sky Rider when they open up in July. It's suppose to add about 7 more zips to the trip. *SUPER EXCITED FACE!* Oh and quick tip... you'll want to do the last zip backwards. Trust me! Let me start by saying that I have a fear of heights so this review may not reflect the reaction of someone who is cool with heights. That being said, if I had known how high we had to climb, I may not have willing taken part in the Skyline zip. After completing the 5 zips and all of the tree top walking, I am so glad I did. This was by far the most exciting and thrilling thing I have ever done. The staff were incredibly friendly, fun and supportive of my obvious fear. They helped to coerce me from my perch with jokes and helpful advice that made this adventure one I will remember. The videos you see in the crazy bus ride up the mountain are a fair view of the actual zipping, however they do not show the climb up the trees or the rope bridges you must cross to walk from tree to tree. That and the actual jumping from the platform was what caused me to hyperventilate. Zipping was absolutely thrilling. I highly reccommend this for all. I was in a group of my family with ages ranging from 13 to 76. The minimum age is 10 and minimum weight is 75 pounds. There is also a maximum weight, but i don't remember what that was. You really need to call ahead as they do take reservations and fill up quickly. I would call a week ahead. The price for the skyline was 89 dollars and i think we got a group discount for our party. read more

For the anni celebration, bf and I decided to drive up to NH and zipline for the first time, instead of the typical dinner at a fancy restaurant. Yay us :) The Sky Rider Zipline Canopy Tour was fun, exciting, and scenic - beautiful fall foliage and landscapes. We enjoyed every minute of the experience from the bumpy ride up to all four unique zipline rides. It's also a great warm-up for more thrilling activities, i.e. skydiving and bungee jumping (we've done both). Excellent service from the professional front desk staff, cheerful girl who geared us up, and our awesome tour guides (4 per group of 13). They had a great sense of humor (most of us scaredy-cats needed that) and were pretty much our saviors (there's bound to be someone in the group that gets stuck on the ziplines and needs to be "rescued"). Thank god I didn't embarrass myself! Quick notes: - remember: cannonball position for best momentum when zipping through - for the final zipline... fall backwards and thank me later ;) - there's a Dunkin's, McD, Life is Good/Columbia store, local candy/chocolate shop, and White Mountain Bagel Co. (delicious sandwiches) within walking distance - bring your camera, it's the only thing you're allowed to carry! P.S. Super super super fun! We drove 2 1/2 hours up to NH to experience this adventure and it was worth every minute of it! The staff is extremely friendly, laid back and informative. My boyfriend and I signed up for the SkyRider tour and it was an absolute blast! So I have to mention one thing... Approaching the first zip-line can be rather intimidating. You have to realize that feeling a little nervous is completely normal. Once you conquer that first zip-line, you'll be pumped for what happens next! So, mind over matter folks! This facility makes you feel safe & secure and the staff are all well-educated. Time flies when you're on this tour due to the amount of fun everyone is having. Traveled from Maine with my boyfriend to go ziplining. We chose the Treetop Tour since he had never been before and was a little nervous. We booked ahead of time, which was a good choice since they seem to be a busy operation. Our group had only 13 people, with 4 guides, which seemed great, since there wasn't a ton of waiting around. After meeting up at their downtown office and getting suited up, we took a quick drive to the woods, and then one of the guides drove us up to the start in a funky 6-wheel drive vehicle- the ride was steep, bumpy, and part of the fun. Our tour had 6 ziplines- 2 were shorter. One was high in the trees, and the last one was a "free-fall"- so cool! The course seemed well maintained and the views were awesome. All of the employees we dealt with were super friendly! They were great at answering questions. The guides were laid back and had great senses of humor, while still being professional and safety conscious. Both my boyfriend and I felt safe through the whole tour. Let me preface by saying heights scare me. Like vertigo scare me. OMG. Best. Time(s). Ever. I've gone a total of 4 (yes, 4) times - twice with my co-pilot and then on the other 2 occasions with some other couples that we had to bring alone for the ride. We are in the Boston area and made the trek specifically for this reason.... it's worth the drive, by far. The final time we went up there we were late, which they STRICTLY tell you not to be, and they still waited for us. You could sense the annoyance but it was our fault, not theirs, and frankly I would be annoyed too in their situation since we weren't the only group that day. Sorry, Alpine Adventures, please don't hate us! The people who work there love their jobs and it shows. They are half the fun! Good laughs, fun jabber, and an all around great experience from top to bottom. The off road safari drivers make the climb up the mountain entertaining (and somewhat scary the first time you do it!) and when you get off the "bus" people are hootin' and hollerin' getting you all revved up to go back down the mountain. I've never been in the summer - only spring and fall - and the weather is GORGEOUS. There are two zip lines you can take - the Treetop Canopy Tour, and the (newest) is the Sky Rider Zipline Tour. I would personally recommend the Sky Rider (it's higher up!) and they are amazing. The only time us height-scardy cats have to worry is when we are waiting to take the zip, but you are so safe and secure that in reality you really know you will be AOK. The rides are great fun, especially the last jump on the Sky Rider (I'm not giving that away, not knowing what it is is half the fun!). The facilities are clean, the equipment is in great shape, and the trees safely secured. You may not get over your fear of heights on this one but try to look past it and not give up this fabulous experience. Comin' in HOT!! read more

I was looking for a zip line adventure for my two sons (12 & 14) and myself. There are a lot of options in NH for ziplining. CHOOSE THIS ONE! North of Disney World, this is about the best run, most professional and entertaining recreational event i've had. We did the mid-level, 2 hour SkyRider tour. and it was truly amazing. But what really made the trip was the staff. Our three guides were simply wonderful - safety conscious and professional, but hilarious, energetic, conversational, the works. Even my teenage sons were thrilled with them. This is no wham bam zip line trip. After a quick and easy orientation, we were shuttled to the base of the mountain by van and that's where the fun begins with a ride up a wooded road in some crazy Austrian troop carrier that looks like its from Jurassic Park. The ride alone was a blast. At the top it was a quick orientation, then onto on of several zip lines of varying length, height and speed. The entire guided tour felt safe, challenging and exhilarating. I could go on, but you get the picture. My sons said at the end, "this was the coolest thing we have ever done". We will be back.
