The gondola ride was pretty great and had some beautiful views, but then there wasn't much to do at the top. It would be fun to bike down the mountain though which I did see a lot of people doing. The restaurant up there had an employee that literally yelled at everyone that wasn't wearing masks stating that it was a federal law(it's not). We came back down and hung out for Oktober Fest which was pretty fun. The guy gave me a hard time at first for using my ID I had saved to my phone saying I didn't look old enough(I'm 36.) My son and husband participated in the keg toss contest which was fun and we all played some corn hole and had a few drinks. It was fun, but I'm not sure how much fun we would have had if they hadn't been having Oktoberfest there. read more

Went on a Saturday, great views and the glacial caves were cool but aside from that the day was less than spectacular to say the least. We were told we couldn't use the amphitheater (One of the things we paid for) because they were "all set up so no one can sit or go down there." Was curious about disc golf once we got to the summit and saw the course, had to ask the only employee on the summit for help and was told we had to go all the way down and back up again to play. Seems to be no real communication to guests, or the staff itself. The glacial caves also had the "sorry we're closed" sign right before the pathway to the entrance, even though they were open, with a "welcome the glacial caves are open" sign right as you're getting off the Gondola. Again, no communication and no help or information center on the summit. The cafe was also horribly over priced and the food looked mediocre. All in all, it was absolutely not worth the money and having to wander around to find someone to help with questions on the summit, and being told we were not able to use some of the areas we paid for, really made for an unfortunately underwhelming trip to the summit. read more

Had an absolute blast this past weekend. I invited 2 other families to join mine for ziplining, hiking, wall-climbing, and of course, the gondola ride to the summit. The first day was admittedly ridiculously hot and humid, which I personally don't mind, but the rest of the crew were dying. I decided to push everyone to do the zipline that stretches across the river, which instantly changed everybody's mood. First because the adrenaline always puts a smile on peoples' faces, but also because of the breeze everyone got from zipping a good 30 seconds-ish in each direction was an instant cooler. The gondala ride up the mountain provided some of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen in New England, but the heat caused a semi-greenhouse effect that almost roasted us had it not been for the small windows. I highly recommend limiting just 2 people per gondola if the sun is out, and it's hot/humid. Once at the top, there's a basic cafeteria-ish restaurant with basic food (gyro, burger, vegan burger, hotdogs, grilled cheese) and drinks. The best part about the summit was exploring the glacier caves. I'll admit I was sorta "meh" about going, but I didn't want to be a party pooper, but was glad I did. It was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast, and I was stoked that they were off their damn cell phones and instagram/snap/tiktok. Every kid needs to experience nature like this, and they all worked up a good sweat. Unfortunately, we were rained out by a thunder storm, but the staff were uber helpful in giving us a rain-check return pass for other activities, which we took up on the second day. This time, we went for the aerial forest adventure, which despite a couple bruises here and there, was the best part of the weekend. There are several courses from absolute beginner, to intermediate, to advanced. My 14 year old daughter was the only one to make it to the black advanced course, but the rest of us loved everything up to the medium green levels. It was such a great experience watching all the kids and parents step out of their comfort zones, pushing boundaries of balance, strength, endurance, oh, and adrenaline. Yep, after each set of challenges, you are rewarded with a zipline descent that left a massive smile on everyone that made it. I highly recommend this place, especially for large groups. read more

Fun, outdoorsy time in NH. Enjoyed the steep gondola ride, wandering the summit with observation tower for awesome mountain views. Best part was the glacier cave mazes! so unique and fun manuvering, squeezing, sliding through (and remain clean) the interesting formations. It was a beautiful day to take a ride to the top of loon mountain on the gondola with my friend. We went up and walked around and looked at the leaves just starting to turn. It was a lovely day and very busy up there. They did have a cafe or snack bar which looked kind of pricey and the food that I saw a being served was not impressive. But the view made everything worthwhile. The gondola ride was very fun and although I am afraid of heights I felt very safe in it. It was just all around a very nice experience. read more

This was even better than I was expecting. First time for me, got the Adventure Pass that was $40, and had a great day. I would not change a single thing about this place. We are two 40-somethings, no kids, and loved it. A lot of families were there with kids happy also. Okay, some details for what we got with the $40 pass: ** BICYCLES ** - a two-hour bike rental: We didn't actually use that because of a knee injury, but they were right there and if you don't have a knee injury you'll enjoy them. ** BUNGEE TRAMPOLINE ** - Didn't do this either, because of a knee injury. However, we watched others for a bit. Little kids loved and, and a few kids got their parents to try it out. It's made for all ages, but we mostly just saw kids doing it except the parents whose kids got them to try it out. ** ZIPLINE ** - one round-trip zipline: First for both of us, and pretty neat. It's idiot-proof, as in you get a harness that's triple-checked, so you can feel super-safe, and then when you're up there you just lean back, like you're going to sit in a low chair, and push off. There you go! It's 700 feet long they said, across the river to a similar platform. Then down the stairs and up the next ones, for the return trip. It's good. It feels expensive for one trip across though... We won't do it next time, but I think everyone should do it one time. ** GONDOLA ** - up and down the gondola all you want: It's neat. On one side the windows open. The windows that don't open are pretty scratched up and not a clear view. It's also warm in there, but still awesome. The transit is 13 minutes each way. There was zero wait time to get on. Attendants were polite. The summit is the best part of the day though. ** SUMMIT ** - the summit: This was just awesome. Like, Bob Ross and his happy little trees might have fit right in. It's beautiful all around. There are little "caves" around big, glacier-moved granite rocks. They're marked with difficulty levels and all that. We went through one and looked at the others. Even without going into the caves though - walk along the paths anyway. It's lovely. It will also take you a good hour to walk through, with lots of steps. Keep that in mind if stairs are a problem health-wise. If you're partway through, there is no secret "exit" because it's a forest. Only way out is to finish or turn around. more about the summit: There is a little playground for little kids. We also saw someone with a dog on a leash, so apparently a dog can ride up with you. There's a lookout tower that was 3-flights up (not 4). It's neat, and at the top of the tower there are signs where all of the other mountains are labeled, so you can match up and find which one's which ... There's also bathrooms up there, a little cafe with food, beer and wine, and there's a nice porch sticking out from the restaurant. There's also an area where they have church services on Sundays from what I hear. While we were there, a couple had their wedding that space. So, I was glad we saw it earlier, because it's a nice place to sit and look out... Great spot for a wedding, however. ** THE GROUNDS IN GENERAL ** Everything was really convenient. The bathrooms were clean, and nice. The parking lot is right there, and there are some chairs and benches around for sitting. ** A FEW TIPS ** 1) If you have binoculars, bring them. From the summit they have those big binocular stands that work when you put quarters in them, but you can do better with your own binoculars. 2) We did see a dog at the summit. I'd call to make sure it wasn't a special allowance, but it seems you can bring a dog up the gondola too. 3) Pack a picnic lunch. There is a cafe/restaurant at both the top and bottom of the mountain, but with the parking lot right there, it worked fine to bring your own. We did this, and saw others with the same. We took our cooler over to some chairs and had lunch midday. 4) If you do not want to ride across the river on the zipline, you can do everything else we did for one $16 ticket. That ticket says "gondola rides only" - but like I said, there is a lot to do on the summit. This ticket could keep you busy for a good afternoon in the mountains. Next time, we'll be doing just the gondola. I do recommend going on the zipline one time in your life, so consider it, but it is like $26 bucks, just one round-trip ride, and it's over in a few minutes. 5) If you found the "gold mine" on the caves walk at the summit, tell the gondola attendant and she'll give you some Loon Mountain "gold" to take with you. Amazingly good time. We got the deluxe pass and did a ton of the activities, having fun all the way. The ropes course was great...would go back just to finish that as we only went on 2 different routes. Decided not to do the bikes since it was incredibly hot. I would totally suggest, though, not going with your spouse unless you are ok with each other. There were quite a few arguments and fights breaking out among other couples. We were a little uncomfortable in the cave section, but you can get out of them very easily and just walk around instead. read more

Let me begin by saying the service was excellent! Far, far better than Attitash mountain. All of the staff was not only polite, but genuinely friendly and interested in us having a good time. The technical 'staff' was professional and capable but never condescending. It was completely the opposite of our experience at Attitash where the staff was disinterested and at times even rude. I took my family of five for the full day of the Super Summer Adventure Pass, and we got the full value. Each part - zipline, aerial forest, gondola ride, glacial caves, summit cafe, and more - was well-maintained, clean, and fun! A couple of specific things. I really liked the locking/safety system built into the climbing harness on the aerial forest. It's designed so that one of your two safety clips is always locked, so it's not possible to ever be at risk of falling. In other words, it's idiot-proof! You can bring your dog to the mountain and even up the gondola. Bring your picnic up to the top of the mountain and have lunch with a spectacular view overlooking the mountain range. And finally, a shout-out to Rick, the aerial forest director for running a great program! read more

This is the first time I came to Loon Mtn. in the summer and they've made it a very worthwhile destination. You can get a $15 all-you-can-ride gondola ticket and see the spectacular views from the summit. There is an observation deck up there as well as a cafe with outdoor seating. It was wonderful sitting on the mountain top with a light cool breeze and enjoying a gourmet curry salad. The best part was the glacial caves hike you can do from the summit. It's only for people who are not over-wide or afraid of getting dirty. You climb up and down ladders and go through crevices and crawl through holes in the rock. There are 10 "challenges" all of which are very fun. Even my 3 year-old loved it! I recommend this place for anyone who likes to just enjoy the scenery or have some adventure. I'm surprised it's not on Yelp. Maybe others will discover the fun my family had. read more

We went here on a whim while staying at Indian Head, which is a short drive away. I wondered if they did gondola rides and they did! This was in August, so obviously there's different things to do in the summer than in the winter. We took the gondola ride, which was about 10 minutes each way, was about $18 a piece. At the top there is a viewing tower, a cafe that actually has alcohol for you naughty types, and a surprise cave maze! There were caves you could navigate similar to what you would find a polar caves. I had a panic attack in one of them, so I assure you these are not for the faint of heart, for large people, or for people who hate getting dirty. I hate dirty and I'm a wimp so I was done after the first few. still cool though! There was also some other things that we didn't do that looked cool- the zip line and ropes course and a cool parking lot paul bunyan themed little fair that nobody was at but would have been cool if you had some little ones. read more

The bungee trampoline was a blast and there's another thing that you can climb. Not sure what is was called. Only negative was the food - it was just ok and a little pricey but you're not going there for the food anyway. Adventure awaits!! read more

How do you entertain 4 teenagers while having some fun yourself? Take them to Loon Mountain Summer Adventures. We bought the pass that included: * Unlimited Gondola rides (not really a big deal, going up and coming down once is enough) * One Zipline ride which takes you across and back the Pemi river. * Two hour bike rental We did not buy the Zipline adventure park (we felt there was enough to do without adding the park to it. Although it did look like fun) Overall, this was a very good value. The top of Loon has caves to crawl around in and the Jamaican influenced cafe with outdoor deck is nice. Zipline was fun and *just enough* for a 40 something. The kids thought it was exciting and were satisfied with the down and back trip as well. The bike rental was excellent. Comfortable bikes and the very helpful bike rental guy suggested a 5 mile loop that takes on a trail running parallel with the Pemi, cross the Pemi and back on a paved road / bike path. Overall, this was a good four hour excursion that left us satisfied and very happy we did it. read more

Gandola ride here on a fall-peak day is a must while visiting the White Mountains. It was like floating in heaven with mist surrounding the gandola with lovely fall colors around. It was a shame its was too foggy to get the panoramic views of the fall colored mountains from the top. The cafe at the top run by 2 amazing people serving up delicious food was unexpected compared to corporate-y types usually found in such places. read more
