Have used Alpine for maintenance and repair twice and will be back. The first visit was for a scheduled maintenance for my Volvo. As I drove off after the repairs, it felt like it was new again (10 yr old vehicle)! That was enough to return. The repair crew seems very responsible, everyone seems to get along and I was shown what needed to be replaced so I understood the repair. That is important to me, and many garages will not "allow" you on the shop floor or "forget" to save the replaced part. My service adviser was "David", and I would recommend him to anyone. Jason is great with the customers and really pays attention to what the customer is saying. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and his mechanics are well trained. I've lived in the area for 11 years and had brought several of my vehicles to Alpine without problems. I recently had Alpine tow my car after a MVA. My car ended up with rear end damage after the tow, that hadn't been there before. The only damage from the accident was front end damage. How did rear end damage mysteriously appear? Alpine denied their driver did anything wrong on the first day. After that, the owner simply would not return telephone calls to discuss the issue. It is obvious that new leadership at Alpine has taken them down a road of poor service and zero accountability. They are willing to lose my business (several cars over ten years) rather than accept responsibility for a negligent tow truck driver and pay the $200.00 to repair their mistake. There are many other auto shops in the area. Do yourself a favor and avoid Alpine. read more

Cars suck. In the days of horses, mine would have been shot, LONG ago. But, with Alpine in the Lake Zurich neighborhood.. my horses keep running. Brought my car in to have a coolant leak checked on. Instead of telling me it was going to need hundreds of dollars of repairs... The owner brought me out to show me where it was leaking from and it just needed a new clamp on a hose. Now the part that blew me away... Told me no charge and to have a great day!!! I discovered Alpine Automotive by accident. Having purchased all of our cars at Motor Werks in Barrington, all of our cars were serviced there as well. As MW grew, the service became less impressive and more expensive. Had a 60,000 mile service in December 2017. Cost was approximately $1,200.00 ($700 was labor). Two months later my 2013 Honda Pilot would not start, State Farm Insurance called Alpine to tow my car to MW. When I called ahead to notify the service department and they said they couldn't get to it until the next day. I mentioned having just brought it in for service but this fell on deaf ears. Kyle (from Alpine) offered to call his office to see if they could look at it.They repaired the car that day. But here is the awesome part, one week later my Pilot wouldn't start again. I called Alpine, Dave drove to my home jumped it and said the new battery that MW put in probably had a bad cell so I should take it back and use the warranty to get it fixed. Dave was right, the new battery was bad and the repair cost me nothing. I was really impressed with the honesty and service that Alpine showed me. Please consider giving this company your business. Car trouble stinks but knowing it will be fixed right and having them stand behind there work is a bonus. read more

I got locked outside of my car in the target parking lot yesterday while it was pouring and the PD said that they were not able to help me so I got redirected to Alpine Automotive and a man answered and I told him what happened and where I was and he said that it will probably be an hour, obviously they were busy so I said okay that's fine but my phone was at 6% battery so I told him where exactly in the parking lot I was and what my car looked like and told him I would be waiting outside. I could tell he felt bad(there was thunder while I was on the phone with him) and so he said he'd try to get someone there sooner. Less than 10 minutes after I got off the phone with him he calls and says that someone is able to come right now and they'd be there in 5-10 minutes. MADE MY DAY! So thankful they came that soon. I have had the worst experiences at Alpine Automotive! Took an older vehicle to Alpine Automotive to have some maintenance done on it. The folks at Alpine wanted to up-sale, and unfortunately, I let them do some of the work that they suggested. They ended up disabling the air conditioning system when they replaced a (up-sale) heater valve. When I returned the vehicle to Alpine, they told me that the expensive computer module had ironically failed at that time. They were not interested in checking the work that they had already done on the vehicle, and they insisted on changing out the module. Unfortunately (again), I let them replace the expensive module. When this did not correct the A/C issue (they hadn't even tested the A/C after changing the module!), I returned the vehicle, and they found that the heater valve had been installed incorrectly. Correcting the heater valve installation also corrected the A/C issue. Rather than refund my money for the expensive computer module (probably more than the vehicle was worth), they got into a huge fight. You should see the letters that they wrote to me(!). In my opinion, Alpine Automotive appears to be owned and operated by dishonest, unqualified individuals, and they do not take obvious steps to ensure their work is done correctly (e.g. testing A/C after replacing an expensive computer module to ensure that this corrected the issue). There are other places in the Lake Zurich to have vehicles worked on. Without mentioning names, there is a newer family-owned shop that my neighbors and I have had very good experiences with, located across Rt. 12 from Wal-Mart. The folks there do not use pressure up-sale tactics (as Alpine Automotive did), and they seem to be very honest and reasonable. In my experience, the shop across from Wal-Mart always tests their work to ensure that it was completed correctly and that it addresses issues. read more

They charged $270 for diagnostics on an emissions check. They found rusted motor mounts, catalitic converter, O2 sensor and more. Any of which would cost more to repair than the car is worth. Seems like a phone call would have been in order early in the process. I think it's because my daughter dropped it off. Clip joint. Never going back. read more

Ive taken my truck.here and.it.needed.thousands. of dollars of work according to them and when I took it to a mechanic I trust it ended up being a couple hundred dollar problem. They offer free oil changes to get you in the door but then tries the hose you walking out. And don't trust them towing your car either things magically disappear out of the yard and they won't give up their security camera footage and the police wouldn't do anything about it either. When I brought up the missing items before I signed over the title to the wrecked car they just accused me of stealing it. The whole situation seems so shady not an ethical business read more

Dave spotted that leaf springs on my step van were cracking and suggested replacement. I had just had brake work, tires, front shocks, and air conditioning work done on the same vehicle. I kind of questioned if I should be throwing so much into repairing the vehicle, but went ahead and had this additional work done. They changed the leaf springs (had them custom made), and they also did rear shocks. Before this, the truck was very noisy (horrible - could not talk on phone while driving). I have had the truck back for a month or so, and note how quiet it is still. Going over bumps / railroad tracks is a lot different now - a pleasure. The owner had said previously - several years ago that they could keep my van going, and they have. And I have peace of mind going into the winter. read more

We had 2 appointments at 11am for oil changes. When we got there they only took one of our cars & said we would have to wait because there were no open spots at the moment to do both at the same time. We waited 50 minutes until they called us to bring our other car. When we got there they told us we would have to wait another 30 minutes before they took our second car because they took someone else before us even though we were less than 2 minutes away. What was the sense of taking our appointment? POOR SERVICE. We will never return. No apology or credit offered. Plenty of other places in the area to go for an oil change. read more

I brought my new car to Alpine for the second oil change, (first was done at dealership). After the service at Alpine my car was leaking oil. I brought it back, after a long time of inspection, I was told that the person who did the oil change at Alpine forgot to put everything back, but they now fixed it. I took it in for the 3rd oil change back at the dealership. This was also because my car had been making a funny noise. Well turns out, when I brought my car back to Alpine, they forced in a substitute bolt which caused the dealer to re-thread and put in the correct hardware. Which cost me an extra $100.00. I brought this to the attention of Alpine, and they have not responded. Turns out oil changes from Alpine can be VERY EXPENSIVE! From other reviews I have read, Alpine probably will never respond. I suppose some businesses do not rely on repeat customers. Just once may be enough for them. read more
