$$ First of all, I have to thank my sister, AnnMarie, for traveling to Helen and Georgia with me for a three day weekend to watch hot air balloons. Secondly, I have to thank the ill tempered parking person over at the Cowboys and Angels restaurant and bar for making it so hard to park outside of that restaurant that we ended up heading to the Alpine Café (at the north end of town). There was free parking in the back and Cody, the host, was so kind to help me navigate the car to their parking area. The service was amazing! Christina, our bartender, was absolutely fabulous and we truly enjoyed her company. Kiylee, who was our server, did a great job making sure that our food was served hot and she was attentive enough without being overbearing! We will be revisiting Alpine Café for drinks this evening, and probably drinks tomorrow evening as well. If you're traveling through Helen, Georgia, please look up the Alpine Café and say "hi" to the staff for us! Safe travels

They seemed short staffed we had to wait even with open tables and no barista to get a drink while we waited. However once we were seated things moved quickly and we enjoyed our food.

Oh my goodness the nicest place E V E R! We came in asking if we could order to go because we had our husky with us. They said of course or we can set up a table on the outside patio for you! They really went above and beyond. They even brought our little pup a water bowl. A N D they brought him bacon! We ordered biscuits and gravy, F A B U L O U S! Such large portions! We also got the two egg breakfast and it was delicious. Sabrina was our server and was incredible! We will be coming back and asking for her every time!

DO NOT EVER GO HERE! Poor service. Ask for water and coffee and only get coffee. Ask for plain grits and they bring out cheese grits. Ask if toast can come out first and it comes out with the rest of the food. They charged the table for an extra coffee. Small portions for the price. Potatoes were way to salty while none of the other food seemed to have any seasoning. No one that got the potatoes could even eat them. Half the bacon was burnt, while half the bacon was nearly undercooked. And then, here's the worst part of the already bad experience! They expect you to pay, without seeing your bill. And then the bill wasn't split properly. Instead of placing what each couple had on there actually bill, the waitress just added it all up and divided by the 3 couples. Wr paid $35.02 for the following: 2 egg omelet 2 pieces of bacon 1 slice of toast Potatoes Bowl of grits 1 pieces of toast We have eaten at many places in and around Helan over the years, and this is the absolute worst experience we have ever had!

The food and atmosphere are excellent but the service is lacking badly. We got there for breakfast at around 8:10 a.m. and were the first ones there. First, the waitress tries to put us in a small corner table when there are around ten empty larger tables available. We actually had to tell her, "I think you can spare one of the larger tables." The coffee wasn't hot and she had to take it back for a fresh pot. The next table that came in did the exact same thing. It literally took 30 minutes to get our food after placing the order. First ones there, mind you. The food was good but we've never waited so long. Prices are reasonable.

We stopped by for breakfast. I ordered a latte, and my wife ordered a decaf coffee. Both were not good. They arrived in paper to-go containers, which we felt was weird since we were dining in. Both drinks were also watered down, and they had very little flavor. This is not the place to go for coffee. The day prior, we stopped at Yonah Coffee Company down the street, which was very good. Go there for coffee, instead. The main course for breakfast was the breakfast pizza, which we shared. We ordered the pizza with bacon, but it came with ham instead :/ Aside from that misstep, the pizza was pretty good... surprisingly so. It's also enough for two to share, which is what we did. Based on the coffee alone, we would probably not come back here. But, if you don't care about coffee or if you have already had your morning cup of joe, this place is a decent breakfast spot. You just have to be OK if your bacon breakfast pizza shows up with ham instead.

We had a lot of fun in the mountains going hiking and running around Helen for Octoberfest! Alpine cafe was one of the spots we checked out for brunch and they did NOT disappoint. It was a really nice location and the interior felt like you're inside a cabin in the mountains. We basically got one of everything on the menu and really enjoyed it. The food was 4.5 out of 5 very affordable & the service was 5/5 and we all left feeling very full-filled and happy ! Shout out to Julie for the awesome service she made us feel very welcomed and at home, if you're in town for some hiking or just passing through this is one of the spots I would definitely recommend give it a try you won't regret! Check out some of the pictures below to get hungry!

Food was excellent. Was my last morning in Helen and needed a food joint too redeem from the disaster that was Pauls... I'm glad to say that this place did excellent! Server was great, she lit up when I said I wanted the breakfast pizza! It was amazing... 2 people could eat this safely and be full! My fiancee got the 2 eggs, the over medium ends were too runny for me, looked more over easy... but she liked them still... Thankful for great service and food!

We absolutely loved our one hour experience at Capyfriends Cafe!…read more Located on the campus of Nacoochee Adventures you will find a quaint little home that has been converted into a small cafe and Capybara lounge. In the far rear room you will come face to face with these gentle, curious, and extremely large rodents. Even if you are slightly timid of animals, it is very easy to forget what they are because they are so sweet and docile. The first 20 minutes or so we were introduced to four Capy's of differing ages. The youngest was about 4 weeks old and the oldest and largest was about 8 months. All were females. We were given a handful of lettuce and carrots each to feed our furry animal friends. The typical amount of paying guests is between 8-10 people, which keeps the encounter intimate and enjoyable. During the next 40 minutes we were introduced to a new animal about every 10 minutes. The friends who came out to play included: a large Guinea Pig, a tiny Hedgehog, a hilarious Armadillo, a small dog-sized Muntjac Deer and the absolutely adorable Fennec Fox babies. Prior to this encounter I don't ever remember having knowledge of these foxes. But now that I've seen them, I will never forget them. They also offer a one hour long VIP MEET THE BABIES experience and a 30 minute Capybara only experience. Prices vary about $50 between experiences, with the CAPYBARA ONLY experience being the least costly and the VIP BABIES being the most costly. Our CAPYBARA & FRIENDS experience was right in the middle @ $125pp. Any experience is great for the whole family, but I would highly recommend the one hour tours. Our hour went by so quickly and we wanted, no, NEEDED more time with all of these wonderful creatures. Afterwards we spent the remainder of our day exploring the fun little German-inspired town of Helen, GA which also happens to be currently hosting Oktoberfest throughout the month of October. So put on your best Lederhosen and Dirndl and come spend a memorable weekend in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Capybara cafe is a great idea and we had a memorable time…read more The highlight of the experience is (obviously) an ability to interact with the animals (there were 3) which makes up for all other limitations. There were some adult ones and some baby ones - all are cute and as chill as you'd imagine them to be. You get to feed them with veggies and pet them. While the concept is great, the execution can use further refinement. I've imagined it being like a cat cafe (and there is a kiosk where you can get alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, which is great). However the ambiance is simply not there as the place reminds of somebody's awkward house. Unlike cat cafe where you can stroll between cats - the capybaras locked in their own room which is only accessible and visible during your designated time slot. The space is underwhelming and needs design. Think of this experience like arranging to meet your favorite celebrity ... at a random chevron gas station down I85 ... it's amazing but also ... weird.

I tried to go back this year, and am so appalled by the customer service (or lack thereof) that I will now give it 0 stars, so settled for two since I can't do two and a half. Yes, the food and ambiance were wonderful in 2025. I tried to book another afternoon tea party and called a month and a half in advance. This was to celebrate multiple birthdays with a group of busy moms so wanted to get it on the calendar. No one called me back despite the voicemail saying that we would hear back "promptly." I left two more messages in a span of two, three weeks and still nothing. I even emailed, no response. Finally, a friend stopped by in person and was told that the cafe would be short staffed the weekend we wanted the reservation for so the manager needs to see if there are enough people working before confirming. Okay....but why wouldn't you call back to tell me that? Our requested reservation is tomorrow and I still have not heard back from anyone. This is abysmal customer service. As mentioned, food was good but not good enough to treat potential customers like this. Hard pass from now on and will not go back or recommend. *Editing to respond to Victoria -- those were the dates I called and left voicemails. Perhaps there was a phone issue on your end, but I did not even get a missed call. My friend who stopped by in person spoke to a manager. She had to go by twice due to the manager not being available the first time. I also did not get an email response.
