    Huckleberry cabin

Our group of 7 had a wonderful time I. The mountains. We shared meals in the lovely lodge where guests are allowed to use the 6 burner stove, oven and pans and dishware. The whole place has a rustic charm. We were in Huckleberry and Trillium cabins. The camp has a lovely sauna. No showers other than from a bag of water you can fill from the one running tap that is only a very slow stream of water. The cabins can get super warm with the wood burning stove which was so nice after being out in the cold. A beautiful place for cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Tom was our host, and he was fantastic. Helpful, personable, and available to assist throughout the stay.

My family has been coming here for over 10 years each December, and we've visited through a couple ownership changes. I will say that each trip has been pleasantly memorable, but our latest trip this past weekend (12/13-16/24) was truly the best. The newest owners were so gracious and present throughout the snowy weekend shoveling snow and stocking firewood, and were wonderful hosts. We did several snowshoe adventures (my kids and husband were on skis up and down). We had plenty of cozy time in the lodge playing games and chilling out. We even had our pup with us the whole time. The transport to and from the camp to our cars was beautiful and comfortable, and punctual! This wintry trip has been such a unique resetting of our minds and always gets us in the holiday spirit. We are already looking forward to next year!

Our venue was in Easton, WA (right outside of Cle Elum area) and it was hard finding local vendors since Easton really isn't much of a city. We came across Gather Leavenworth on Wedding Wire, hopped on the phone with them, didn't look elsewhere and went with Gather. They were more than happy to travel! We hired them pre-pandemic with an original wedding date of 9/26/2020, but then had to postpone to 2021, and they were super easy to work with! Even though we hired them for day-of-wedding coordination, they had a lot of wedding tools you can utilize months before, that I wish we utilized more. But with the pandemic, we were thrown in to a bit of a funk with wedding planning. Gather sent reminder emails throughout the planning and they were so helpful! They came out the day before our wedding to run the rehearsal and go through all the decor and everything. Then day of wedding, everything went so smoothly! Ashley and Tarcy were amazing to work with! I would highly recommend hiring them to coordinate your big day! Super happy with their services!

Everyone kept telling me how stressful the process was and how I'd be worried about things coming together and I never felt stressed the entire time, and was able to completely enjoy my day knowing everything was taken care of. An event planner myself, I have a hard time going to an event and not paying attention to all the details but they had them all covered. It's helpful they have relationships with all the vendors in town and with their help, we put together a vendor dream team. We could not have been happier with the whole planning and execution of the whole wedding and know anyone that hires Gather Leavenworth will be equally as pleased.

The waitress/hostess at the restaurant, Cassandra, was wonderful and did a great job. The manager lady who checked us in when we got there was very nice and helpful. I wish the facility would do more to warn people that the Library Suite is a private cabin and not an actual library for them to knock on the door and try to come in. That happened 12 times in the 5 days we were there.

The only other place we found to be a dog friendly hotel with a vacancy was Sleeping Lady Lodge. We spent two nights for 500/night plus an additional 50/night for an under 10 pound dog. Be prepared to use a cart provided to get your stuff from the parking lot to your room, about 200 yards round trip for us. You get a map at check-in and there are a couple of maps along the trails to help you find your room. Pool appeared locked and the "Grotto" bar closed. You can grab a small cup of coffee at the office. If you want your room cleaned each day, they ask that you call and let them know. Run out of the four, one-cup Nescafé coffee pods they supply? You have to call them before 7am the next morning or come pick up what's left at the office. They tasted terrible to me. They do provide an electric teapot so if you bring instant coffee or tea, you can make your own. There is a small fridge but no microwave. No TV either, but that was okay with us. There is a broom so you can sweep your own floor. This time of year you will track in sand from the walkways if you come inside with your shoes on. Our room had a double bed and a twin. Down comforters on both but the beds were not very comfortable. On site breakfast buffet was an additional 25 per person when it's free at many other hotels in town. This is a nice place if you don't mind a rustic cabin type room with rickety furniture. Good water pressure and heat. Loved the heating rack in the bathroom to warm towels or dry clothing. No fan in bathroom so it gets humid in there if you shower or bathe and can be stinky if you...well, you know. Tub/shower/toilet in bathroom. Sink and mirror in sleeping area. Minimal seating (old swivel chair and lounge chair.) If you want a McDonalds-like egg McMuffin, coffee and/or a pastry for breakfast there is a little coffee shop by the main road. Otherwise, plan to drive 4 miles into town. Ditto for lunch and/or dinner. Bottom Line: You're not coming here to pay for the service or upscale accommodations (though you wouldn't know it from the price.) You're paying for the quiet, woodsy atmosphere the place provides, the dark sky at night, and the mountain surroundings which are beautiful.

Mount Angel, Oregon is another example. Leavenworth's Festhalle, however, is a little bigger, a little better appointed, and ostensibly utilized far more frequently. Whether it be packed with drunken revelers in early Autumn, carolers and local orchestras in the winter, weddings, fairs, expos or any such gathering that requires a massive indoor space, the Leavenworth Festhalle is equipped to accommodate. Most of the events that occur here throughout the year are smaller affairs, with Oktoberfest being the only event that truly fills out the expo hall, to the point of spilling out into the surrounding streets and alleys. More than likely, unless you're a local (or live reasonably close by) your experience with the Festhalle is going to be at one of their flagship holiday festivals. Do they have Bingo here? It seems like the sort of place that would hold a Bingo tournament, during the off-season. If not, they definitely should. I mean, who doesn't like Bingo?
