I took my son to Tahoe for a "fun" day in the snow. Upon our arrival at a ski resort, we walked from the parking area to the gondola but realized we forgot something in the car. When we got back to the car I discovered my car keys were not in my bag or any pockets! After several futile attempts looking for the keys by retracing our walking path, I took the recommendation of a resort staff member and called one of the companies mentioned, Alpine Lock and Key. There are not enough words to express my appreciation for the service Jacob provided. He presented me my options over the phone and gave me a 1-1/2 hour estimated arrival time. I was so impressed, not to mention grateful, he arrived much earlier than originally estimated. Jacob came well prepared, and went so far as to assist with us in trying to find our lost key around the car area. Although we did not find the key, Jacob was already prepared to provide us with a new one. From the time we called for the emergency service, on an extremely busy Saturday, to the time we completed the transaction it was less than 2-hours! My kids and I were headed up from Davis, CA to Idaho when we decided to pull into a campground to go swimming in the river near Truckee. We pulled up to a market nearby to grab some waters and when we tried to head back out to find some good swimming holes, my car wouldn't start. I suspected that the problem was my key. My truck, being a 1996 model, has gone through a lot of wear and tear, especially my key, which has been severely worn down. I called AAA and they sent Jacob Dunn from Alpine Lock and Key, Inc. Jacob was resourceful, efficient and creative. We didn't have the code for the cut of the key so Jacob had to look at the locking mechanism on the passenger door. Our windows were rolled down and are operated mechanically so in order for Jacob to reach the lock he had to play around with the electrical hardware to roll up the window. Once the lock was uncovered, Jacob was able to see the key code and was able to make me a copy of the key. He creatively found a solution to the problem and was efficient and careful when handling the hardware of my car. He was very personable and friendly even under this very difficult circumstance and hot weather. My friend and I are dumb and locked ourselves out of our car while camping 2 miles south of Tahoe city in a rainstorm. We called several other places to try and get us into our car but they said they were too far away and it would cost us at least $300. We finally called Alpine Lock and Key and Jacob Dunn came in 45 min (just like he said he would) and charged us half what we expected to pay for the job. Had an issue with lock, and Jacob came out and resolved. They didn't have the exact lock and we needed something to work for staff going into the weekend so he problem solved and was able to install a temporary keyless system to help keep business running smoothly. Then owner came by and replaced with original system, and even customized it to keep it up with the fire code. I feel they will do all they can for their customers. Good business to work with.
