I need a brake and lamp check for the dmv. I call and the guy says he can do it and I drive to the garage and he says it's too hot. Come back tomorrow. Then the next day I come in the morning and he doesn't say anything to me for ten minutes while I'm standing there, then puts his hand out for my keys and says 140$. I told him that was expensive and he scoffed and handed my keys back. He said he was the only guy in Lodi to do it. I went to JT auto care and smog in Stockton for 100$. I had to have the STAR certification, and of course came to my fellow Yelpers. I called ahead and asked the price for my make/model and was pleased with the price. However, it took nearly a week and a half to make the Check Engine light go off. (BTW....do ya'll know how many stupid things make that thing go ON..?!?) Anywho, got the light off and called to see if the quoted price was still in effect, and was assured it was. When I arrived, the youngster gave me another price, quite a bit higher. When I told him I had called the day before, he called whoever is in charge and was told to charge me what I had been quoted. Had planned to go sit at the McD's across the street while they did their business, but not necessary. Done in 10..! Price is right! TOTALLY recommend! read more

Called all over trying to find this 1/1/13 new law "STAR" testing station. Everything was $75 or more. Called Alpine Smog in Lodi and they informed me of their station at 5121 HOLIDAY DR. STOCKTON. STAR testing for under $60! CHEAPEST place in Stockton! Not only would I recommend this place to my friends I called the shop where I usually go (they are not yet STAR certified) and informed them of the cheap rate and suggested they refer their customers who need STAR testing for cheap! The only draw back is there is no where to sit while you wait for your car. It is a very small drive-thru shop at the end of an old "DIY" car wash but I don't have a problem standing if it saves me $15 or more! (In my case $30+ because I had two cars to get done!) Excellent smog service and repair company. They also sell used cars at a great price. I have a fleet of vehicles through my company and we always bring our vehicles in to have them smogged. If there is a problem, Gary will always let us know what it is, and it's usually a simple fix. They can do it, or sometimes we repair ourselves if it's minor.
