The owner of MD Smog is friendly and knowledgeable. MD Smog is also Star Certified, plus it cost less even without the coupon. I'm extreamly happy with their service, plus I was in and out in a short period of time. By the way, MD Smog is also open on Saturdays. I found MD Smog because I DID NOT want to return to "A Better Smog" (also in Lodi) due to their poor customer service and their made-up fee of an additional $5.00 because I needed my smog test conducted at a Star Certified smog check center. The lady behind the counter at "A Better Smog" tried to tell me it was a state fee, but she later admitted it was an additional fee they chose to charge. (Think about it, if the state wanted another $5.00, the state would have increased my vehicle registration fee by $5.00.) read more

I called before I came to make sure I didn't need to make an appointment for a smog. Minh was very informative and said, "first come, first serve basis" for smogs. I came about five minutes later and he had some customers waiting. Overall experience was fine, got the work done, was able to register my car with the Star Certification. It was a little pricey and the waiting area felt small. But the prompt service was worth it. I was there for maybe a total of 35-45 minutes. read more

Terrible! If you utilize the coupon they offer and fail your smog test they will make the money back that was initially discounted by charging you for a retest. Are you kidding me? Ridiculous. I'd rather pay someone who's willing to perform a free re test regardless of a coupon or not. Will not EVER go back under any circumstance! Came in today to get my car smogged. I was treated with respect and given a short (10-15 minute) wait time since there was already 1 car ahead of me. The waiting room has no frills, but what do you expect.....it's a smog station in a warehouse on Cherokee Lane. The technician promptly preformed my test, I paid, and went on my way. They are told by the STATE they HAVE TO test the vehicle they ARE NOT ALLOWED to tell you it wont pass due to ? (whatever is wrong with your car) that would be illegal for them to do hence the name "TEST ONLY" not "ADVIsE FIRST THEN TEST" I have no affleation with this shop but I do know the law becasue I am in the same line of work......... the owner is a nice guy read more

This place scammed me. I will never go here again and I would recommed that you don't go here either. They advertise for a free retest and they did not honor it. They tested my car even though my "check engine" light was on and apparently if it is on it won't pass the full smog check, so he tested it knowing it wouldn't pass smog. At the time of retest, he wouldn't honor the Free Retest advertized because he had price matched me for the first test and apparently this voids out the free retest even though it is not stated anywhere in their advertizing and he didn't tell me that before he tested my car (and the fact that he tested it knowing he would have to fail it because the light was on). Poor customer service as well, he was rude to my husband while he was explaining why he wouldn't honor his advertizing... Francisco and MD SMOG are SCAMMERS! read more
