On our way to Viejas we stopped by to eat here randomly. Friendly service and food was great! I got the prime rib dip and it was so good. Great flavor and good portions. The Mac salad that came with it was one of my favorites. The pork ribs were also very good and they give you a lot! My wife had the salad with steak on top and she also enjoyed it. We want to try to come here often when we visit the area.

We love coming to this restaurant that has classic American staple food that is served warm. Always a spot at the bar to enjoy a cold beer.

Loved the dated outside look of the place. Then the inside provided a nice clean atmosphere. Service was great and attentive. Food was bomb.. This salad was off the chain. Show up here when you're hungry in alpine!

What a fun and interesting atmosphere this place is! Old school tavern set with a mishmash of furnishings and eclectic things hanging from the ceiling and mounted on the walls. You literally feel like you back in time. Good selection of local beers and quite the diverse choices of food, ranging from delicious looking salads to burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and bbq. The kids menu went beyond the normal mini stuff to include ribs of all things. I had the jalapeño burger which included the usual lettuce and tomato's type stuff and a layer of battered and fried jalapeños. Add some secret sauce and a medium cooked Pattie and you got yourself a good burger. The dish included choice of sides and I opted for rings. Enter and nice cold 22 ounce Alpine Duet IPA and I was one happy boy. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the slow service. I will say in their defense that the 6 servers working the restaurant that Saturday afternoon were all very busy, lots of people to take care of. I can't wait to go back and explore the menu a bit more.

We've made a habit of stopping here often when we're headed by. All of the servers and bartenders have been overtly friendly and helpful. And the food is to die for. Never had a bad meal there. This time the French dip, garlic fries, and the patty melt and tots were all delicious as usual and were served with ranch and a spicy aioli. The tavern was built in 1890 making it 135 years in 2025. Very cozy space with a wood fire place. We always sit at the bar as well.

I enjoyed this small bar in Alpine. Very cold beer. The potato skins came in a huge bowl. Prices are a bit up there for food but it is a nice small town bar with friendly staff. I'd come back.

    Asian chicken salad

Carne asada fries great tasting. Meat was tender ( great plus - most are chewy). Good amount of cheese. Nice size . Could easily feed 2 people . Definitely a great appetizer. Asian chicken salad good dressing large amount. Could be shared by 2 people. Service was polite and attentive. Alpine Tavern & Grill has an old time west feel. Seat yourself with bar in front. Does have a family atmosphere. Loved by locals tucked neatly next to Janets Montana cafe. Definitely an Alpine goto for dinning. Only take away is bring a coat if you are seated in lower level can be a bit chilly.

Tavern has some new menu items. Thought that I would share an update. Everything is always so good. Wish I got pictures of my food

I recently started working in Alpine so I'm branching out and trying local spots for dinners. Last week my husband met me after work and we decided to try Alpine Tavern and Grill. Parking was a bit of an issue. The lot is small but we found parking on the street. When you walk in you are instantly transported to another place. The outside is unassuming . But the inside is quaint, reminded me of a Disney tavern. There's a tree growing in the middle? I order the blue cheese burger and it was so good! The onion rings were too. My husband had the patty melt which was huge. The service was great. The place seems small but it looked like there might be additional rooms in the back.

Once the music got set up on the patio, it was so loud, you couldn't talk with anyone at the table. not a nice way to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends. but ok, we moved inside. The music, by the way, was excellent. So it's not that. Inside we had a server who seemed new or not very well trained. For a place that serves breakfast and lunch, it was odd that at 10 minutes before noon, we still could not order "lunch" items. but ok - pivot to breakfast. we placed drink orders and food. What came out was disappointing. we asked if the bottomless mimosas could have a little cranberry juice added. Server said not problem. What came out were cranberry mimosas, no orange juice in sight. when food came out, it left a lot to be desired. The avocado toast order was awful. plain white, grocery bread barely toasted with an avocado smash (container spread from the store or costco?) and dried grated parmesan cheese (like from the plastic container in the grocer) not as advertised and definitely not what one expects for this dish. The side of bacon was forgotten. The eggs benedict looked ok however the hollandaise sauce was barely existent and what was there was split. Making it barely edible. The other breakfast dishes were just ok. Biscuits and gravy looked good. lots of it and chunky. scrambled eggs and hashbrowns are hard to mess up. But for one person, the hashbrowns were pretty much cooked to a crisp and a lot of grease on the plate. that person left those to the bin. And had a hair on the plate. We had to ask for the bottomless mimosa to be refilled. The server took the glasses, and when they came back, one was orange, one was cranberry and THE GLASSES WERE REUSED! Unacceptable!! if the server didn't know, the bartender should know NOT to reuse glasses. Even if it is our own glasses, you don't reuse them. If you want music, average food, and drinks - this will be ok. The band was really good. The food experience was dreadful.

I ended up getting the breakfast burrito without the bacon to make it vegetarian and it was sooooo good. The salsa it came with was a wonderful mild red salsa. My experience yesterday evening was absolutely opposite. We were seated at a large round table in the corner at the front of the restaurant. We were 11 seated at this great round table. It was perfect because we could talk with anyone at the table, and see each other. Our server, Hunter was fantastic! Friendly and while waiting other tables she was able to cater to our needs just as well and as fast. She did have another person checking on us when Hunter was not at our table. I did not get her name. Tonight it was hopping with other gatherings taking place. There are TV's lined along the upper half of the wall with all kinds of sports happening being televised. The room is very open with great outdoor seating off to the side of the restaurant. Looked like comfortable seating too. A few of us ladies order appetizers to share. When the platters arrived they were placed on the large lazy Susan in the middle of the table. Appetizers shared: Sampler plate: Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons Meatballs Wings Margherita Flatbread Hummus Flatbread My dinner was: PSH Chicken Penne Pasta My drinks: Espresso Martini and Benoit Dearg "red Beer (Barley & Sword Brewery) Red Ale-Irish My Dessert: Beignets to share and Affogato Appetizers were great. Though I did not get to try the meatballs, I was able to enjoy bites of the sampler plate. With the wings I requested the mild sauces to be off to the side. Thank goodness! They were spicy and I do like spicy food. The windows were nice and crispy! Came with carrots and celery sticks. My Chicken Penne Pasta was delicious. I don't know if it was my imagination but there seem to be some sweetness to the sauce. Maybe wine added? My desserts! The beignets were fresh. The arrived with the look of almost a donut hole. They were piping hot. The bread was light, with a bit of dense texture. Very delicious. My affogato was amazing. If you love coffee this might be for you. I had my first affogato in Italy, this is the 2nd best. The hot espresso mixed into the vanilla ice cream, was heavenly. Both my drinks, Espresso Martini and red beer were both delicious! The martini was very creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. The red beer was mild and very smooth. I would love to return and can't wait to try some of the other beers available as well as the yummy dishes on the menu. Parking is busy in the this busy street mall. Shares lots with DMV, Walmart and other businesses.
