Had such a great dinner tonight at Mediterraneo in Alpine! We started with a few appetizers and honestly...they were the highlight. The MELENZANE RIPIENE (eggplant stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, and cherry tomatoes) was incredible: rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The calamari fritti was crispy and delicious, and the TONNO ASIATICO (seared ahi tuna with sweet chili glaze, ginger, teriyaki, and wasabi) was a huge hit at the table. We also had to try their house-made mozzarella sticks, don't skip these...the cheese pull alone is worth it For the mains, we had the CAPELLINI ALLA CHECCA and the RIGATONI ALLA NORMA, and both were fantastic. You can really taste the difference, the pasta is imported from Italy, and it shows in the texture and flavor. My husband also ordered the margherita pizza and said it's the best he's ever had, which says a lot! The space itself is big, welcoming, and super versatile. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plus a large bar with a full menu. We tried a couple drinks from their spring menu: the pistachio espresso martini and the berry margarita both were so fun and tasty. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive, which really made the whole experience even better. Bonus: they have a great family-friendly area with arcade games and a pool table, which makes it perfect whether you're going out as a couple or with a group. Place was empty upon arrival. I just happen to pull in by chance. Had 40 mins to spare, but yeah kinda weird being literally the 1 only person there. The place is to my surprise nice tho, like the lay out is cool. Even featuring a view into the valleys of alpine. Bar is a great setup, TVs for sports happy hour available. Cute spot! They have karaoke certain days. They have a lot of seating. Big parking lot with lots of parking. They give you a couple different kinds of bread and butter to start off with. I have often driven along the 8 Freeway travelling to Jacumba Hot Springs or Mexicali, in which I passed through Alpine. However, I have never actually stopped in the City of Alpine. I recently read a Yelp review of Mediterraneo, so I decided to visit the restaurant for dinner this evening. I made reservations on the restaurant website. They are not on OpenTable. Mediterraneo Restaurant is located in a rustic spread-out shopping mall---tucked away in the corner, with easy access off the 8 Freeway. The interior dining room is quite small. There are nice outdoor tables that extend around the building (it was too hot this evening to eat outside). The waitresses are quite pleasant. The wine list is more extensive than expected. I began with a bowl of Minestrone, which was pretty good. I appreciated the greens in the soup. The Pesce Spada served atop mashed potatoes and spinach was surprisingly good. And the after-dinner espresso was excellent, and served with an Ameretti cookie. read more

We made a reservation at Mediterraneo for a birthday dinner. It was a great pick! The location is in a small strip mall. The restaurant has some areas with sunset views which is nice for dinner. Most of the dining areas are adjacent to the bar and they seem to have a busy happy hour scene, at least on Friday night, so it can be a bit loud. There are also plenty of screens around so it has a strong sports bar vibe. The food lived up to expectations. We started out with the seared tuna appetizer, it was both gorgeous and delicious. One disappointment was they ran out of ossobuco just before we ordered so we went for a plan B. read more

My parents live nearby and love this place. The food is great, the staff are very friendly! The owner told us about the mural on the wall, which was near where he lived in Sicily, with walk-through restaurants up against the water. We had Caesar salad. I had the lasagna, Mom had salmon, and Dad had lamb oso bucco. They offered to put grated Parmesan on everything - but I decided my lasagna had plenty of cheese already. It was great, and I managed to eat the whole thing. The lamb was great, too, very tender, and Mom liked the salmon. Will certainly be back. The nearby Barron's Market is great too. read more

There's only word for this place .. excellence! Excellent service , excellent food , excellent atmosphere! No automatic tipping , and no extra charge to split meals with your partner . They have outside and inside seating available. Dogs are allowed on the patio outside . There are heater outside if you get a chill ! Ever since our first time back in July of 2024, this is now our favorite Italian restaurant in East County. We've been frequenting nearly every week in the past month and plan to go there again for Christmas Eve Dinner. We love the food, the wine (per my wife), the service, the ambiance, just about everything. One thing we saw once but yet to try (since it's not offered frequently) is the cheese wheel (or the cheese bowl) pasta. Something that comes up as special every now and then. One day, we hope, will be there for us. I was craving pizza and nothing is open late in alpine. So I was really excited when I saw these guys closed at 9:30. After looking at the pics here, I decided I wanted this pollo alla sorrentina AND pizza. We walked in at 9:05 and were told the kitchen was closed Dana chatted with who I presume to be the owner and they said, come eat. so glad they did because the food was great and it was exactly what I was craving. Saturday the 30 my family went around 4pm. The waitress and the Hispanic gentleman filling the waters was so sweet and polite and amazing. The hostess with dark hair is so rude she dosent smile dosent greet you, my grandma asked if she could get another of something and she looked at my grandma, and just took the item form her and got her another one and said NOTHING. She never asked if our meal was good, when she gave the receipt she just plopped it on the table and left! Like your a hostess how dare you be rude to my grandma! She's a frequent person too and felt so out of place and was asking if she did something to her. How dare you make an elderly lady feel that way. We'll take our money elsewhere. If you're having a bad day don't show up with that attitude. If it was my business that girl would get demoted fast. read more

The menu is a basic breakfast menu, nothing special there. We had the bacon avocado omelette and eggs benedict. The omelette was dry, no flavor whatsoever with black spots on the avocado. Always trying to go to new places... We landed in Mediterráneo after driving 22 minutes each way. Food was average, nothing really that stands out. But this is okay depending on what you are going for. Ambiance: we sat outside and it was comfortable. Again, nothing special just average. Service was okay. I don't think the place was that busy but the service was less than average for what I have experienced in other places. I am glad we went there and try it out. Will I be back? Not really. Drove out here on Saturday for a girls lunch. We came at opening and the busser told us their waitress did not show up so he was waiting on further directions. After about 10min, he came out and and "well, I don't know where our waitress is so I am going to help you. I am just a busser so I do not know much". Poor guy. The waitress eventually came in though! SERVICE - Our waitress seemed very frazzled which was expected as she came late. There was another girl helping her fill waters and she was sweet. FOOD Caesar Salad - I feel like you cannot mess up a Caesar. This was solid. Bacon Mac & Cheese - The flavor was on point. It was just a tad watery instead of creamy but it was fine. Chicken Alfredo - We got two of these. The chicken was nicely cooked. The sauce was pretty salty though. Pepperoni pizza - Great flavor but the crust was very soggy. The toppings and cheese just slid off. It did not stick to the dough at all. Lava Cake - We wanted vanilla ice cream. Waitress came out 10min after we ordered it and said they did not have vanilla so we had a choice of espresso or chocolate. Another 10min passed and she finally came out and said "sorry, we are also out of espresso so here is the chocolate". We did not really have a choice but to eat the chocolate. The lava cake was so dry! And there was no lava. Creme Brûlée - The overall custard portion was good. The sugared top was very thick and hard. My friend took her spoon and tried to crack it but it actually took more force than a usual tap. Overall, the whole experience was a bit bizarre. The food was just okay. My boyfriend and I came for a nice NYE dinner and to play some pool as we watched the ball drop. I love that there's this authentic tasting Italian spot so close to where he lives. I had asked for a wine recommendation since I was getting the fish and the Raeburn Chardonnay was absolutely scrumptious. The flavors for all the dishes were on point and the steak was cooked beautifully. I heard the server at another table mention that the creme brûlée was sold out for the sampler and let them choose a replacement, but they hadn't given us the same option which I wish they had :/ otherwise, the service was quick and they were always on top of keeping our glasses full. Make sure to bring some cash if you plan on playing pool/games. There's an ATM nearby if you need it though. Parking is super easy as the restaurant is located within a plaza with its own parking lot. read more

Ordered food got the tab & handed the physical Venmo card to pay which fyi is a Visa card. A server name Georgia not only disregarded a minor but also made her feel as if she didn't have the money & somewhat of a thief. Claimed "if it declines once it'll decline everytime" I as her mother can confirm there was more than enough money. I called the restaurant itself and asked if they take it and the man on the phone confirmed they take it and sometimes they have system errors and to try again- which Georgia was clearly too busy to do. She was able to finally pay using tap Apple Pay which isn't that convenient- tap to pay vs a physical card. Advice to the server- next time instead of trying to intimidate and make a minor feel as if she is in the wrong or a criminal try and communicate the way you would if it was a grown adult in front of you. Finally visited this establishment while we were in town. We were greeted by a friendly hostess on a very busy night. Waited about 10 minutes before we got to our table. We ordered the ahi appetizer, Tropicale salad, calamari friti and chicken fettuccine. All were excellent, especially the ahi. The presentation of this dish was so creative.
