Had dinner at Heroes when Jeremy's on the Hill was a full house for Valentine's Day weekend. I was bummed, but heroes saved the day! We got their Godfather pizza and Buffalo wings. Something to note is that they do not have apple cider which isn't updated on their menu! I do wish they did though or could source it another way. I liked their pizza, though my preference of crust is softer. Theirs is harder and crispier like a pretzel. We added garlic butter on the crust but didn't end up eating much of it because of it. Overall, there is a lot of seating throughout the restaurant, and you can sit outside as well. Service time does take a bit, especially because the pizza is wood-fired and it can get busy. The hospitality of the staff made us feel very welcomed after our dinner plans failed!

Very nice place, the food was delicious in particular we loved the salad the "chopped mix salad" and the gluten free pizza, we appreciate that it was in the right term, the place is huge, they have a big staff and the food don't take that much to be served, their selection of beer is really good, they also have a huge menu of food, the only 2 things that I probably didn't not like was that everything is a little too pricey and that my chicken wings were undercooked which is also not so safe since chicken can carry many diseases. Other that that it was a good experience.

Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday and it was about an hour wait in line to order! Staff also gave a heads up that if you order pizza, it'll be another hour before it's ready. We grudgingly went with our second pick of the menu: the burgers. We were really looking forward to the pizza but my oh my... We surprisingly enjoyed the burgers! I got the Shroom Burger and hubby got the Bangin burger. Both delicious. The best part? Burgers and app came out to our table within 15 minutes of ordering!! As opposed to pizzas which would've been an extra hour wait. ALSO, the lady that took our order at the front was so kind and sweet!! Even among the chaos and busyness, she was smiling and patient through it all. They also welcome dogs on the outside patio & there's live music in the evening on weekends. Yes, they're known for pizzas but this place should also be named "Hero's Burgers" because they were excellent!

If you are looking for a place outside of the crowded Julian strip this place is will provide you restful break. The executive chef, Jeremy from Jeremy's on the Hill recommended this place and it exceeded my expectations. Executive Summary: Quality of the Food: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Good for groups: 5/5 Drink selection: 4/5 Kid friendly: 5/5 Parking: 5/5 Service: 5/5 We came here the day before Thanksgiving to get Apple Pie next door at California Mountain Bakery. Also recommended by Jeremy's. The pie from there is a home run and less crowded the Mom's. I'm not discounting Mom's but it gets crowded there fast! Food review. The wings were delicious, not overpowering on the sauce. I highly recommend ordering two orders of the wings. The brick oven pepperoni pizza was fresh, thin crust, oowey, gooey and delicious! The cheeseburger was tasty and very filling for an adult appetite. They have the standard fountain drinks. There is a lot of outdoor seating and a good amount of indoor seating that is past the bathrooms. For vets they provided me a discount on the food. On busy days, the staff lets people know how long it will take. On weekends it does get busy here for lunch and dinner so get here early or take your patient pill. We have been going to Romano's Restaurant pizza for years, and I'll still go but you have to get there before the crowds. This is at the top of my hit list because the food and service are a home run and it is not as crowded.

Came here for late lunch on a weekend in fall. The main part of Julian was absolutely crazy so we're glad we decided to come to this place! Big parking lot, good food, live music, and nice atmosphere on the patio. The only downside is that the line to order was pretty long. It took us 45 mins to get to the front of the line, but once we ordered the food was relatively quick! We saw lots of folks grabbing drinks from the drink barn first so they have something to drink while standing in line. We got 2 pizzas, a small salad, and appetizer to share among 3 people. It was slightly too much food and think we would have been okay skipping the app. The godfather pizza was tasty, especially with the garlic butter crust (extra $1). I liked the bianca pizza as well. Mozzarella sticks come with 8 and are normal/what you would expect. The chicken salad was VERY GOOD! Think regular chicken salad (walnuts, cranberry raisins, curry mayo, etc.) but with a bed of romaine to make it actual salad. The hand-pressed cider (non-alcoholic) was really fresh and good too. Lots of seating options and easy to find a table once you order. Both outdoor and indoor seating available. Lots of space to park a stroller near your table and we saw a bunch of strollers and dogs on the patio.

What an amazing place! I love atmosphere here it's based around military fire men and other first responders. There is there are photos gears metal me area all over the place. No need to stop for a meal in the city center of Julian, battling the herds of tourists and squabbling over parking.. Heroes has PLENTY of parking and TONS of seating. they are even DOG FRIENDLY! There's a bar on the left and a counter-style restaurant on the right (order at the counter, get a number, and they deliver). Theres open-air seating in the middle. If you have more than 1 person in your group, it makes sense to cooperate and graduate, sending one person to either side to order food or drinks. I got the regular burger and a side of Greek pasta salad. the bun is soon tender and the special sauce is incredible. The burger is really juicy so once you pick it up, you may not be able to put it down. It was a great meal and a great location!

    Pesto pizza

Good food and ambiance. Nice stop on a Sunday outing. The band was very entertaining playing a variety of music. Service was great. Got the pesto pizza with homemade pesto. Delicious!

Heroes Wood-Fired Pizza is a lovely option for lunch during your next day out in Julian! What used to be Wynola Pizza, the new name honors the legacy beautifully. Will definitely return for some truly outstanding wings, delicious salad, and maybe a simpler style pizza next time (although everything we ordered was yummy). Great service, super cute patio. Pardon the red hue to the photos - we were seated under a red umbrella on a sunny day. :)

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! Heroes in SantaIsabel is such a gem. First off, it's spacious--like you can actually breathe, stretch your arms, and still not knock over someone's drink (rare these days ). They have live music, which gives it the perfect cozy barn-style vibe. The food? Out. Of. This. World. Their wood-fired pizzas are seriously to die for--I had the chicken Caesar salad pizza and the smash burger, and let me tell you... I'd come back just for those. Actually, scratch that, I will come back just for those. Every pizza here deserves its own fan club. Bonus points: TONS of parking (hallelujah ), beautiful area right by Julian, and dog friendly!! My dog thinks it's his restaurant now. The staff is always amazing, super friendly, and make you feel right at home. Bottom line: If you're looking for delicious food, a fun atmosphere, and a spot where your dog is basically treated like royalty, this is the place. Heroes is officially my new happy spot.

WOW!!! One of the best Sweet Chili Wings I've had. Great job Hero's

So, I grabbed a room across the street at the Mt Laguna Lodge and ate many of my meals at The Outpost. I am going to be completely honest here... I fell in love with this place because of so many reasons, but mainly because it took care of "my people"... yes, the backpackers. The service was so incredible. From the friendly guys in the back on the grill supplying me with ingredient information to the professionalism of the lovely young lady working the register... to the barkeeps to an amazingly talented woman from San Diego who was the musical talent one evening... I seriously don't feel you could assemble a more amazing cast to encounter all in one place. The food... what kind of 5-star review of a restaurant would be complete if you didn't mention the food? Well, it was equally as great ... I found no reason to claim that the selections I purchased were anythjng less than flawless.... yeah, flawless. With a lot of people coming up from Greater San Diego on the weekends, they put out some incredibly amazing BBQ offerings (but only on the weekends). I never wanted to leave and they probably thought I was moving to the mountain beeeeecause mosat backpackers stay overnight ans then they are gone. Not me, lol. I need to say that no proper review of this business would be complete without saying that the husband and wife team running the place were well beyond super cool to me. Oh, and you know you stayed in town a good long time when you leave knowing all about little league teams having games canceled because of the weather and the history of the local structures. Fast forward almost a full year, and now... needless to say that I was pretty bummed out when I did a spur of the moment, 3-hour drive to Mt. Laguna (Saturday, March 7, 2026) for a re-experience, only to find The Outpost closed due to a septic leak. I am sure hoping that they will have this all fixed up soon... especially with the Pacific Crest Trail hiker season having launched on March 1 (it runs through May 31). Since the people that run this place are awesome folks, I would hate as much for them to miss out on their potential income as I would be disappointed for the hikers who may fail to have the chance to have the excellent experience that I had in 2025. Best advice: Call ahead to ensure they're open. My fingers are crossed... Respectfully, I Remain, "Trail Chef" P.C.T. 2025

It defies logic that other sit-down places will meticulously prepare quality, fresh food, then slap frozen Ore-Idas down on the plate. Farmhouse 78 does not do that. Fresh cut potatoes fried in beef tallow. Doesn't get any better than that. I'd add a sixth star just for the fries if I could. I plowed through them before I even touched the sandwich.

We had high hopes this place would improve... but nope. This was my second visit--and definitely my…read morelast. I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."
