Best place East Bay for Donuts !! Please support our small businesses. Sarah and her family make the best donuts with much care. Pick up a dozen and make a gift as a special thank you or just just because. You want to arrive with something yummy. You won't be disappointed here. The little shop is very clean and parking is at the front door. Give them a try ,

Al's Donuts has been our destination trip before our drive home to SoCal . Upon entering we were warmly greeted by both Ro and pheap . Nothing has changed since our last visit . The service we received by both was admirable, they remembered us from our past trip here . The counter and table seatings section were clean , and stocked with drinks . Al's tend to always sell out , so we made sure to call ahead to hold 2 apple fritters for my husband . We can't drive home without it and of course my kids love their donuts too. Chocolate bars , pink sprinkles and filled donut holes are among their favorite. Al's do not skimp on their quality of their products. Their donuts size and taste has always been consistent .

I was 4 years old the first time I ever came here!! My mom used to take my brother and I to Al's Donuts everyday before or after school until the 4th grade!! We moved, but I came in for the first time since then today (I'm 22 now). The same friendly staff work there and the donuts were just as I remembered! Love this place!! The donuts are great big and gooie, love them, I even got my mom liking them. She likes old fashion with no coating on them also the round ones. Now if I could only get them to mail them to her like would be great for her ( she is almost 91 yrs old). Oh yes and let us not forget the bear claws, we live now in AR. Donuts out here are nothing like Als they fall way short. read more

So I had never had a fresh donut before last year. I had the pleasure of having one of the owner's sons in my class and he often brought in donuts to share! I had always had Safeway or Winco donuts before, as we never had fresh donuts around Brentwood where I lived. Well, now I am a believer and have gotten my family hooked on them! Not only are they amazing donuts, but they are so amazing at supporting local schools and are always willing to help them out! Visit Al's - you won't regret it! :) read more

i've been eating al's donuts since the 1990's... they are friendly and always add in a few donut holes when my kids come with me to the shop. i love a plain cake donut with a coffee, but i haven't meet a donut at al's that i didn't like. old fashions are good, raised are good... their maple and chocolate are both tasty - not gritty, not overly sweet. and they're the only place around that does cruellers. even their croissants are killer. read more

Finally. I have been searching for a good apple fritter in the East County since we moved away from Hayward and Rudy's Donut House in Castro Valley. Tried many donut shops in Brentwood/Oakley/Antioch and they were all sub par. Al's makes an excellent apple fritter with good amounts of cinnamon, apple chunks, and not too greasy. Their other donuts looked great too. They there in a pumpkin cake since they were closing soon and it was awesome too. Go here. read more

I have celiac so our family doesn't eat too much bread. But as a gift to my loved ones the best gift I can gift them is a dozen donuts from here. We do live near some grocery stores and other shops but as the family says," If you love us you will get us Al's Donuts". :-) . . . And I do!! read more

I'm use to the locations that usually have fresh out the oven ones so this location should think about warming them up for sure. There was only one person working and we were the only customers that day when we came by. I think if they advertise that they will warm up their donuts for this location then a lot more customers will come by but because of the price and them being cold looks like they lost their people. It's a small but gorgeous tearoom that seats about 26ish people total. We opted for their cream tea option which is a personal pot of tea and 2 scones per person. My spouse is a pretty picky so unfortunately they dislike most tea sandwiches but loves scones so it's the perfect option for us. We also grabbed a couple counter desserts to try. My spouse got the blueberry darjeeling and I got the rose chai. Both were delicious but we liked the blueberry better if we had to pick one. We got a strawberry eclaire and a duck egg creme brulee as our counter desserts. The creme brulee was to die for and we found out that duck eggs were from the owners personal ducks do they agree as fresh and healthy as you can get knowing exactly what the ducks are fed. They had actually run out of scones when we got there and were very apologetic and transparent on the bake time needed. They offered to remove the scones from our bill if we didn't want to wait but we gladly waited and enjoyed our desserts first. The scones came out maybe 5 minutes after we finished the desserts and they checked in with us again. They were fresh out of the oven and served with faux Devonshire cream and a housemade cherry compote from local cherries. They were well worth the wait. If I had any suggestions it would be to make a reservation option for cream tea on their website as I totally would have made a reservation but it only had the option for afternoon tea reservations.

I had no idea that this place even existed. I barely could find it as Raley's blocks it out. I was a little underwhelmed though-- the donuts are that light, flaky taste everyone loves. They are thick and hard. It will meet your donut craving but they could definitely improve on taste. read more
