I am happy I did because I found some really cool 7inch singles here (see photos) to bring back home to Austin with me. Walking in to Fat Cat Records I immediately loved the vibe in here. It really feels like you are walking into a friends top-of-the-hill apartment to hang and look through their record collection in a super welcoming place. I really loved the overlook down off the street and neighborhood of N. Stone Way. You will find cassettes, CDs, 45 singles, books, and all mediums amongst new and collector's issues and selections. You definitely want to come in here and be curious because you WILL find something unique. Here is what I found and brought back: - I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher (45 single) - Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison (45 single) -Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee (45 single) - King Tut by Steve Martin - a rare Modest Mouse 7inch (white vinyl) Pricing is excellent for what I got and everything was fantastically in good shape especially for the ones I found that are from the 1950-1960s. Many of the singles had typed out/inventory markings on them too which makes me wonder where they were before showing up to this cool record store?!?! My friend got some pretty rad and rare vinyl too! Everyone was super impressed by the selection they had here. This record store will be a must when I come back again next year for conference things.

The films I checked out were The Visitors and Cast a Deadly Spell (part of the H.P. Lovecraft series) both perfect picks that I never would've stumbled on through an algorithm. Not to mention, there is a HUGE array of specialty and genre-specific films that can only be found on Blu-ray and/or DVD. And that's before you even get to the VHS and Laserdisc sections, which are very much alive and well here. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and warm, and they clearly enjoy where they work. I personally love their custom system of film organization sections broken down by theme, country, and some genuinely inspired niche categories that you won't find anywhere else. Also, the privately curated, rare graphic zines at the check-out counter are absolutely worth a glance. What's easy to overlook? This place is a registered nonprofit and the largest independent physical media library in the country, with over 150,000 titles. Many are out of print and flat-out unstreamable, titles that don't exist on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or anywhere else combined. Supporting a membership here isn't just convenient, it's genuinely keeping film history alive.

I ended up purchasing per a staff recommendation, 'Attempt at Exhausting a Place in Paris' by Georges Perec Reading the first couple of pages instantly transported back to Paris, a place I know extemely well, and I saw every bus, man, woman, child, server worker, and heard every klaxon and shouted obscenity. Sup Pop started it all in Seattle!…read more Thank god a SUP POP store is now located in downtown Seattle, I need a place to actually view, smell, taste & purchase vinyl. Now before I rant and rave anymore it must be said without certain bands in Seattle before Sup Pop started, there would be no Sup Pop, so it's time these bands get a shout out for being the original Seattle scene: TKO CULPRIT OVERLORD  ( Grunge before Grunge ) The Heats The Cowboys Shadow The Wild Dogs (Portland Band) I'm sure I left out a few but without these bands you would have Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone or Alice N Chains. What a great store catering to the Seattle Sound " GRUNGE " music. I purchased countless SWAG items and several lp's for the collection on my shopping spree. Hell I even bought a cd special addition from ALICE in CHAINS. No downloads at this store it's real organic old school music purchasing. For you millennial children you actually have to pay for your music like we all did a long time ago. So get with the program and keep music alive by buying at Sup Pop. So now that I've said that FRANK gives a double thumbs up for turning Seattle into music history. I may not like all the artists from Sup Pop however I'm glad there here.

This one has the better environment if I am being honest, its a corner side of a building store and has cool T-Shirts, books, mugs, turntable mats, etc .....all kind of SubPop merchandise. Its just a retail store to be fair - but worthy of the stop if you are into SubPop records. There is not a huge selection here, but enough to find something cool to take home. I ended up picking up a few souvenirs and chatted with the guy in the shop (super-friendly) Worth a visit!

My girlfriend loved it too since they had plenty of cute stuff for her to look at, like keychains and Smiskis, so there was something for both of us to enjoy. The staff were also incredibly chill. We accidentally stayed past closing by about 10 minutes. I kept apologizing and telling the employee I'd get out as quickly as possible, and he genuinely didn't seem bothered at all. I really appreciated that about trip there. The ONLY thing that I would like to see some improvement on is I had difficulty getting the price stickers off in one piece. However, the rare and expensive games in the glass cases, they put the price on top of a sticky note instead of directly on the case, which protects them from that issue. So I really can't even complain about the stickers on the other common stuff, when they're going out of their way for the stuff that actually matters like that. Overall, definitely one of the better (or possibly best) game stores I've been to, especially if you're looking for rarer games. Great selection, cool stuff, awesome environment, and chill staff.
