I requested many quotes for some painting at my house In Oceanside. Before AL I had received 3 other estimates. I had 3 more scheduled after AL. Wanted to get 2 rooms and my deck/Stairs painted. AL showed up on time as promised. Did a quick survey of my request and gave me the estimate promptly. He was providing the same services the other shops said they would do but his price was significantly more reasonable. I also felt that he had significantly more experience than the other shops. I'm a business owner as well and deal with many clients and businesses daily. I'm familiar with people who do what they say and say what they do . I'm also very familiar with the opposite. I would not use Al's. We just used them to remove the popcorn ceiling in our living room. We also had them add pod lights and paint. They are horrible listeners and communicators and blamed us for the errors. We told them a few times where we wanted the pod lights and they still put them in the wrong spot. Also we have never had professionals remove popcorn ceiling before and they used a type of sealer that smells for several hours. No one informed us of this so when they finished it was dark and they were surprised we were staying in the house. We had to leave or stay outside in the dark and cold for a couple of hours since the smell was so bad. Also we realized after the pod lights they bought and installed in our vaulted ceiling have different setting ( warm and cool). They never asked or informed us of this option so we can make sure they were set up how we wanted them. Lastly they needed to come back for repairs and to fix the lights which took them 2 months to finally show up and do it. One day they said they were coming and we waited all day. They never responded to our text or voicemail. We finally got a hold of someone two days later. No apology for having us wait for them. They are very inconsiderate and horrible listeners. To find excellent craftsmanship, service and integrity at a reasonable cost during these days of Covid seem to be more and more a challenge. We found it all in this company! We attempted to go the three-quote route of painting the interior of our home built in 1988 (and painted only a few years after). It was obvious we needed a facelift. Al came highly recommended from neighbors who had used him for both interior and exterior. Even of greater value to me was his follow through. I made contact and within less than a day he responded, and in a timely manner we visited. Al has input and he provides his input, and he does so without offense and with respect to our desires. Al delivered - quote, start date, completion (ahead of schedule) and followup. His team failed to remove window hardware, and now that is scheduled. I have no doubt there will be an issue. HIS TEAM - step above the average! They are gentlemen. At the end of the day this team left our home as if it belonged to them - in the words of my mom they "cleaned up after themselves." Impressive! The TRIM is amazing! Every point is well defined, flawless. For budget reasons we are doing the interior (and eventually exterior) in stages. Called to have closet acoustic ceilings removed and walls painted. During the estimate walk-through I mentioned that I eventually wanted to have the LR & BRs painted. Was told that it would be cheaper to have it all done at once, so I made the decision to go ahead with the big project - costing $1,000s. I spent several days choosing wall colors and finishes and sent my choices to Al via email. Thinking it would be a better choice to also include the kitchen and baths I added those rooms and sent the color/finish choices. Ended up having a chronic disease relapse and was in the hospital for three days so I had to postpone the start of the project. Once I was home, I decided to go ahead with the project because I figured the paint crew would be counting on the money for Christmas. I was told I would have to stay somewhere else for three days (surgical wound and all). I should have said no at this point, but I really wanted to live up to the fact that I hired this company and I was sure they would want payment before Christmas. Finally get to move back in. Took two days to recover from the hospitalization and move. Started looking at the work and was very disappointed. Colors and finishes were not what had been specified, some areas not painted at all, paint drops all over cabinets, blinds, in the toilet, and on the flooring. Some door hinges painted and some not, and here's the one that really upset me because it was the reason I called them in the first place - after they removed the acoustic ceilings, they applied sandpaper texture on the walls in the closets - and applied a flat finish instead of semi gloss. NEVER texture the walls of a closet because it snags the clothes! I called to have the items fixed. One gentleman was sent with a roller and "painted" the inside of the closets with the correct finish (only up to about two inches to the ceiling and floor) and did not knock down the sand texture. Didn't fix the other items. I was so upset and in so much pain I couldn't say anything. I really tried to give this company the benefit of the doubt, but now I will have to pay $1,000s again to have much of the work completed and repaired by someone else. read more

We had Al's Quality Painting come in and remove our acoustic ceilings and paint several rooms and doors plus put on new door handles and hinges. We had shades and drapes and cornice boxes that had to be removed and replaced, and they did that as well. They did a phenomenal job with everything. When we came in and saw our "new" home, we were very happy with all of it. The cleanup was exceptional as well. I waited to gather my thoughts before leaving this review. I was overwhelmed when I came home to such a disaster. I hired Al's Quality Painting to 1) Remove the acoustic ceilings (popcorn) in my home and 2) Tape, mud, paint newly installed drywall. I moved out while they did the job. I was called after 2 days and told it was done. When I arrived, no one was at my home and it was a disaster. There was "popcorn" debris all over my front yard, my entry way light was in the bushes in the front yard, the walls were a mess, there were boot prints all over my furniture (apparently they didn't use ladders?!), none of the trim was painted, and on and on. To the owners credit, he did drive over as soon as I called and had his employee work on fixing the botched job. However, after 3 hours, it was time to go. The next day I realized how bad the drywall work was. It caused major issues with the remaining construction. Non of the walls were mudded correctly. They are so uneven that areas had to be cut out and redone so that cabinets/tile could be installed. The texture was also way off. It does not match the adjoining walls at all. They just used the stuff in the spray can from home depot. Lastly, they flooded my bathroom vanity. I don't even know how they did it. I flushed the plumbing and checked the pipes to make sure that they were not blocked from using the vanity sink for their construction/utility sink. I received a refund for the work, except for the 10% deposit. I had to use that money to fix the mess. Here's the thing, if you don't know how to do drywall work or popcorn removal, say so. It's ok. Stick to what your good at. I really hate giving a negative review, but think it's important to say. read more
