They have specials! So if you're calling in your order remember to ask what the specials are! Grilled halibut was very tasty, flavorful and a great big cut! They left the skin on but it's not crispy or anything so that was just a bit weird Grilled salmon was a good big cut but they removed the skin and there isn't any seasoning so it's rather bland flavorwise and a tad dry. Fried oysters were very good, sauce was delish. I think they make their own tartar sauce, it's got bits of carrots, big fan of that! Also really appreciate the compostable containers! My husband and I love Al's Seafood, whenever we're in the area we like to have lunch there. I did take my daughter there about a week ago and it wasn't up to par, I thin it was early and the frying oil was hot enough for the fried food. Had the onion rings and lobster roll. Onion rings were undercooked. Lobster roll was on a French roll; and not the traditional roll (which they sell in their store). The traditional roll should be used and makes a difference! The lobster portion was generous and was fresh & tasty. I prefer a touch more mayo but I liked the lobster. The quantity of lobster was good for the price, though it truly had no taste whatsoever and was very bland that included the fries and the onion rings. While visiting Hampton Beach we were looking for a lobster place off the beaten path and Al's offers lazy mans lobster which we couldn't pass up to avoid the mess of cracking lobster claws/tail. Not a fan. First off, they want you to leave a tip upfront. lady at the order placing register says " please answer this question" after you stick your credit card in for payment. Whatever the question is (I forgot), the answers are 1. No tip, 2. 15% tip, No. 3. 20% tip and no. 4. 25% tip. This is without you ever having tasted their food. Back in town to pick up motorcycle from shop abc asked guys where to get chowder and lobster rolls. They said hands down that Al's was the best and they were correct. You walk into the fresh seafood area and place your order at the counter to the left. Then you enter the extremely cozy dining area, with a toasty fire roaring in the fireplace; perfect for this snowy day. The toasted lobster roll with fries was perfection. Copious chunks of sweet lobster with a hint of mayo; I normally prefer clear because I'm not a huge mayo fan, but this was done correctly. The fries were perfectly crispy too. The S.O. got fish n chips. It was a nice size plate of fish and he really liked the homemade tartar sauce. I had to get a to go of homemade clam chowder and lobster bisque from the seafood side plus a steamed 1.6lb lobster for dinner tonight (long drive ahead, so it'll be a nice reward). I'd drive three hours just to come here again. Totally worth it. read more

one star for decor and parking got a parking spot on saturday mid day because everyone knows the place is sub par at best the lady at the window was unintelligible she didn't speak or understand what most people were saying we had to ask her several times what she was saying, no offense to slow people but why put her at the front she went inside to do trays too the front window asked what we wanted to tip but we had not even been served at all except the slow woman so we decided to skip that part of the tip and was going to leave $10 under the ketchup like the other people in front of us did at their table HOWEVER she was not happy about the tip situation so she was angered and told the dark haired thin woman and boy, was she ANGRY she threw the hot sauce at me the other people at my table witnessed this then the dark haired woman never asked us if we needed anything else so no tip for her either ugh disgraceful but that is just the tip of the disgusting iceberg the food was just terrible my friend got the stuffed mushrooms which were HORRID the fish and shrimp combo was older shrimp plus bone fish bony fish but the soggy fish had bones in it ugh my seafood mac was not good at all it was full of yucky breadcrumbs not delicious bread crumbs the shrimp tasted older the scallops were ok the mac was MEH but the service by far was just horrible shape up we spent $64 plus one of my friends did tip but her seafood stuffed mushrooms were miserable and she never complains so I knew when the skinny woman threw the hot sauce it was just doomed how dare you you get paid to serve and I would have tipped after but you are a GOON bye forever good luck read more

We hit up Al's for some fresh seafood. It did not disappoint. We ordered shrimp cocktail to start. You get 10 shrimp which is solid. Most places give you 3 or 4 shrimp if you are lucky for the same price. We were recommended the lobster rolls so we went with that - toasted buns. We added a fried shrimp order just in case the lobster roll didn't cut it. Taking a look at the other patrons, we made a good choice for local fare and portions wouldn't be an issue. We saw several lobster platters that were delivered to tables that were the size of small labradoodles. The lobster rolls came out on a lightly toasted bun and the amount of lobster on the roll was impressive. The fried shrimp were great too. Overall it was a good experience and the food was fresh and tasty. read more

Al's has been a staple in the southern NH Seacoast area for years, and has stayed consistent even after the congenial Al hung up his apron in 2007. We have not eaten inside since covid but pick up meals such as fried clams and haddock from their outside window (under a plastic wrapped tent to offer protection from the weather). Their seafood is delicious, sometimes a tad overfried, so maybe ask for it to be lightly fried if you care about that). We more often frequent their fresh fish market, which is a treasure to have close by. They have some great prepared food, including the only cole slaw my picky husband likes, frozen stuffed shrimp and mushrooms, soups and even some desserts. The fish market is a treasure to have here. In terms of their restaurant, they have more than fried fish. They have well-prepared specials and land-lubber choices for the fish averse. Either in the restaurant or at the market, try their delicious cocktail shrimp, I actually prefer the medium size which is just right size wise and more cost effective. Al's has a nice dining area that is kid friendly with a beautiful fireplace in the cooler months (and they are open year round for us locals). They also added an outdoor area for tables with concrete protectors to make it safer, very smart. We are so happy that Al's is still here in our community, serving local customers and happy tourists! read more

Ordered a half and half- calamari and clams. Plate was loaded with food- bigger than I remembered. Unfortunately I wasn't as pleased with the food as I have been in the past. The clams and calamari were not hot and crisp as I expected- tasted like they'd been in a warmer instead of freshly fried. The calamari was tough and didn't have much flavor. It's not fiction!!! Someone in Al's kitchen made some kind of unholy deal and was gifted with the Fry skills of the beast!! I chose to go light and ordered a "Half and Half" which gets you 2 crispy proteins teetering on a mound of french fries along with a small cup of slaw. I selected haddock and calamari from a list including clams, shrimp, scallops, chicken fingers, among other fried choices. While I can't imagine anyone peeling out of the gravel parking lot, rubbing their belly, shouting ....."but those french fries!!!!"....it's the freshness and cook on the seafood that will exceed your expectations. read more

First time here. This place is POPULAR! They have a decent parking lot, but not even close to enough. Cars are waiting in line to get in. The restaurant itself is also crowded. Expect a 20-30minutes wait if you want to dine in. They also have a line for take outs. You can choose that option if don't want to wait for a seat. Food here is tasty. We are not a fan of fried seafood so we ordered sandwiches and chowder. They are delicious! They also sell desserts, salads, chowder and crabmeat. We brought a case of seaweed salad, highly recommend! On the other side of the restaurant, there are raw fish and seafood. They are fresh and reasonably priced compared to grocery stores. read more

I've been eating at Al's for about 5 years now and am kind of sad to say this but the last 2 or 3 times, I thought the quality (or preparation) of the food has gone down. To start , this last time (mid July), I ordered Fisherman's Platter for 1, and a small cup of fish chowder. I received clam chowder and there were tiny "dots" of clams and the chowder itself ($7.99?), okay on to the platter. I always eat the clams first, (don't like them cold) and they had a rubbery, not fresh taste, well that set the tone for the rest of the meal, tons of french fries, but that's not what I came for. Disappointing that I had driven 40 miles, when could have gone down the street where I live to "The Lobster Boat"(Merrimack) and been disappointed ,and saved gas. Has Al's come under new ownership, because it sure isn't the same as it used to be, sad. read more
