Tons of locals seem to rate this business in extremely high regards and I can see why. You walk in and are immediately greeted with the pleasant smell of fresh seafood. And they have the displays to match. On this partly cloudy afternoon, I was in search of lobster tails. Upon requesting them, I discovered two things.. 1.) Unfortunately, the tails offered are not very big. Near as I can figure, they come in packs of 3 of what appear to be around 5 ounces each. 2.) Lobster really IS more affordable if you buy it in Maine. For context, a standard two pack of lobster tails at 5 ounces each (or sometimes 4oz) costs me around $25 in NH at the time of writing this review. The 3 pack of the same size tails costs the same price here at Taylor. So, naturally I bought two of those and ultimately nabbed a little under 2 pounds of lobstah for a mere $50. Sufficed to say - we will most certainly return at a future date. I have my eyes set on the fresh lobster meat next. As mentioned, everything in the glass display looked delicious. The place is easy enough to find. Just be aware their entrance is actually not in the front of the building, but on the right hand side. It's a little confusing at first, especially considering the tiny street view sign doesn't help much. If you drive into the "boat drop off" section, you're on the wrong side. Other items I wouldn't mind trying next visit are their lobster bisque and clam chowder. If you're coming across the border as I do, one pro tip I'd offer is to bring a cooler to keep your produce in for the day as you travel back. We transported the lobstah back in my car on an 85 degree day and the gel ice packs kept everything cold enough not to oxidize. Definitely check this place out for all your fresh seafood needs. We were staying at a nearby cabin and found Taylor on Yelp. We came looking for some lobsters, steamers, and oysters. We also got some scallops wrapped in bacon. Taylor had great prices all around. The inside is super clean and organized. You can tell they run a smooth operation. The service was great. The fish monger that helped us was really kind, gave good explanations for all our questions, and seemed really genuine. They sell steamers that have already been "de sanded." Usually when you buy steamers you're supposed to soak them overnight in cornmeal, but this has already been done. Considering all this, they're a steal at $6.99/lb. When we ate the steamers that night, they were completely clean and delicious. We would definitely return to Taylor's if we're in the Kittery area again! read more

When we stay in York we frequently go to Taylor for lobsters and steamers. I appreciate that they have both hard shell and soft shell. Their steamers are nice and sand-free, I don't even have to soak them. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Their chowder is excellent. Full of clams and potatoes with great flavor. Goes perfect with some sourdough bread. This year we decided to try the oysters and we are so glad we did! We tried all three types and they packaged them individually with the location written on the container. I really appreciated this extra effort for when we got them home. This year, Taylor wins for our favorite shellfish market. They have friendly staff, amazing selections of oysters, clams and lobsters, and are conveniently located about 10 minutes from the house we're staying in. We went there every day for our 2 lobsters and 2 lbs of clams. In addition, they easily supplied our lobsters for our party here (14 lobsters). We also decided to learn how to shuck oysters here (thanks YouTube), and their oysters were hands down delicious and while the occasional shell piece was obviously my amateur shucking, it was very nice to have high quality oysters availability. They had a website with a price posted (one of the very few). My family had a long drive and we called various markets in Portland and Brunswick area getting pricing. Taylor beat them all. Holy Moses! If you're looking to buy lobsters to ship, then Taylor Lobster Company will not disappoint you! I'm a Mainer, transplanted in Atlanta with a daughter, SIL and three grands in Charlotte. My husband and I broke our Covid quarantine to visit them. And since none of us are going to be able to visit Maine this summer, we brought Maine to North Carolina! Taylor Lobster Company's staff is friendly and efficient! Their prices are reasonable and competitive! The packing was very impressive! Actually found this place by accident yesterday when I was doing a search for seafood markets. This one was a bit further away but it was the only one still open at 4pm on a Tuesday!! We got 4 live lobsters and 4 crab cakes. Taylor lobster is a small shop on the side of a multi business building - no frills type of place. What you find here is some of the freshest haddock, lobster and seafood around. I'm hooked on their haddock. Tonite I bought 2 lbs of haddock @ 9.99 lb and some cracker crumb topping. There is a variety of delicacies for sale here: homemade chowders, cole slaw, shrimp dip, tasty old style crackers, nice wines, etc. The staff are always friendly and fun. I stopped by here to pick up some fresh and frozen lobster to take home on the plane. It was great!! Realize this is NOT a restaurant. They sell fresh seafood. The only cooking being done is they will steam clams and lobsters for you to take away. There are no tables. The fresh seafood was right off the boat, and everything was reasonably priced. A pack of 3 frozen lobster tails was $16. They even have boxes with frozen cold packs which are also reasonably priced. I just wish I had brought a bigger suitcase!! read more

Really impressed!!!I went for some lobster meat for preparing rolls but only half of the meat could lie down on the rolls, that meat was so delicious that I had to eat it before the rolls were ready.
