Fortunately, a friend knew that Alsco services lawn mowers in a building behind the hardware store. I left my lawnmower with Andy and he had it ready in two days (at a time Clark & Sons in Yuba City was quoting seven weeks). The price was reasonable, and the lawn mower fired right up on the first pull of the cord. Since I didn't have a pickup, Andy even offered to deliver it to me on his way home after work. When the repair person arrived he mentioned it was a long drive to Sacramento. If you don't want to drive to Sacramento, don't install garage doors here. It ended up being a simple fix: the sensors needed to be repositioned. The repair person explained it to me in a condescending tone and even said "it's not that complex". The total charge was $245, including the $95 penalty for living in Sacramento. I wish that the potential cost range had been communicated up front as it is probably relatively clear what the problem is when talking to a client by phone. At least I know how to fix it myself now.

However, after looking at a handful of other slab yards I still hadn't found *the one*. (I was shopping for a quartz countertop for my bathroom and kitchen) I went back to Pacific Shore Stones on a Saturday in early January and it was busy. Anthony was working that day and even though it was busy and he was helping multiple other people, I never felt invisible or smothered, I was checked on, and I was offered guidance on some of the slabs I'd liked in the warehouse, as well as the slab options in the showroom. Anthony gave me a lot of helpful advice that I would have not known to ask about or possibly overlooked because I wasn't aware to even consider it. I was able to find my slabs and will update the review once my project is complete. I'm really happy I went back into the store and worked with Anthony, he really made the experience a great one.

Send two dudes to an old historic home who kept asking me about a plumbing feature only found on new homes. Then they told me I would have to pay a $350 diagnostic fee before they began. Like used car salesmen, they then pretended to call their boss to get me a discounted rate. I'm immune suppressed and gave them masks to wear. One dude just put it under his nose. I said if they were to do the job, he'd have to wear the mask properly. He comes back in with the mask both upside down and inside out and offers me a discounted diagnostic of $250 for a job I was pretty sure was just cleaning out the P-trap. He started talking about cable cameras into drain lines. Given his lack of understanding of the quirks of old home plus his total disregard for my health (and his general MAGA attitude and t-shirt symbolism), I declined. Hall's dude must have been Covid asymptomatic, because I'm now starting to feel sick. PS - Job turned out to be a fast 15 minute fix for which I paid a fraction of the Hall's diagnostic by someone who cheerfully worse a mask.

Well, needless to say I was pretty upset because this purchase hadn't paid for itself yet as it was two months new and just past the point when home depot wouldn't take it back. I was told I had to take it to a manufacturer approved repair facility. POE is one for Yard Machines. They took a quick look at it and opened the gas cap to say "you don't have any gas!" Ummm what?! :/ I didn't think it was gas as I had JUST put in gas the day I last used it! I suddenly envisioned my blonde roots exposed (and I'm not naturally blonde)! LOL!!! We weren't sure so he put in a bit of gas in there to test it out instead of making me go back home to fill it and the possibility it wasn't that and bring it back to the shop again.
