After reading some of these comments, my experience makes a lot more sense. I stopped in to have a hydraulic hose for my grapple repaired or replaced. The woman at the front desk was friendly and directed me to the shop area in back. I explained what I needed to the first guy I saw and made a joking comment that I needed to "make my tractor great again." His response was, "Well, I won't help you then," and he walked away. At first I thought he was joking. I didn't know anyone there and was simply making small talk. When I walked around the corner, he was gone. I then walked over to the counter in the back, where two employees were standing behind it talking. There were no other customers waiting. I stood there for about five minutes before finally holding up the hose and asking if one of them could help me. One of them finally said, "I'll do it," and took care of the hose. He was professional and got the job done, but he wasn't friendly either. To be fair, this was my second visit. The first time I was there, everyone was much friendlier. It's possible the first guy thought I was trying to make some kind of political statement or insult, but if so, he completely misread the situation. I don't know whether that was the owner or just an employee, but from a customer's perspective it looked like someone refused to help me over a harmless joke. Regardless of politics, that's not how you treat customers. I got the hose I needed, but I won't be back. read more

My sister was going around the community, taking her buyers letters for fair into all the businesses. When my sister brought her buyers letter into this business, my sister was giving her little speech and the lady cut her off and said I'm not interested. I think it's funny that this is a business that relies on the community support but when a highschooler brings in her first buyers letter for a pig for fair you can't even listen to her and take the letter and be nice. You could literally throw the letter in the trash after she left, but to be so condescending and rude is beyond me read more

If there was a ten out of ten stars, I'd be giving that I stead of just five. Not only did the amazing folks at the hose shop, promptly get back to us after hours but the opened up on Sunday. Two employees pluse the owner built all the hydrolic lines and did some custom fabrication welding on our excavator so that we could hook up our new masticator head. We were heading to chico to help fight the Park fire and wouldn't have made it if it weren't for their service and help installing all the new lines for that head. I can't speak highly enough about them. We have used them several times, and each time, they go above and beyond. I'd gladly drive 2 extra hours to get hoses built because I know they will be right the first time, and the price is always better than the others we have in our town. Years ago, I had a bad customer service related issue at The Hose Shop and swore I'd not return. Another project came up and circumstances forced me to give them another chance; they are the only business in town that does what they do. I am glad I did. They fabricated a custom line that was absolutely flawless for a lot less than I expected. It was done in just a few days which was fine by me. The techs working there knew their business and they were much easier to get along with than I remember. I actually have a lot more work I need done and having them as a resource makes things way easier on me. This is your classic sole proprietor small business. They care about doing things right. They make sure they take care of their customers. They care about their reputation. They are not some corporation with fine print disclaimers that leave you stuck. They are going to make sure you are well taken care of. They are also good at what they do. I've tried to work with hose shops in other areas because I have properties around the state, and I keep finding that they make one type of hose or another, but not the type I need. They have helped me out several times. One time there was an error in the order. It was just a simple mistake. I'm not even sure if it was my mistake or their's but they didn't question that. They just fixed it (at their cost) because they take care of their customers. They are how we wished every business was run. read more

I spent hours with different parts shops to find a British parallel fitting most of which don't even know what they are. This shop not only had the parts to make a the fitting, but then was able to weld the fitting making them shorter to work in a congested application. Truly great service! read more

We visited The Hose Shop yesterday to buy connections for our new filter on our log splitter. We had a excellent and satisfying experience with the owners, who analyzed our needs and recommended a better solution for our application. Ron was very knowledgable (after 37 years on the business) and helpful and very friendly. I did not find him condescending, nor rude as commented on the other reviews. He was really helpful and I would recommend his shop to anyone needing hydraulic parts and hoses. read more

We have an old Kubota tractor. Sat idle for 20 years. Of course several of the hoses needed to be replaced when we decided to put it back in service. Brought them into this place, they duplicated each one perfectly and quickly. Very friendly and polite. Nice people. Glad to be able to support a local small business. read more

Recently I have the extreme misfortune of going into this establishment. The quality of service is horrible and the products are high priced . The worst person in there was the owner. He was highly condescending . RUN DON'T WALK AWAY!!! It's worth the drive out of town to receive customer service and not give money to someone who treats people this way. read more

I needed help getting my hydraulic steering system hoses and fittings for my large boat. These guys were very knowledgeable and experienced with hydraulic systems. They got me all set up with all the hoses and parts. The price was reasonable. I will need other hoses for the bilges, fuel, etc. I definitely will be going back for more help, hoses, and parts. read more

My wife and I visited the Hose Shop a few times over the past year. First I must say they saved us twice by making custom stuff to keep our excursion rolling. They also hooked us up with a custom hose assembly for our daughter's mustang. On all of our visits the owner himself has helped us out and taken extra time to make sure we got what we needed and that it was done right. On our last visit we chatted a little longer and learned the history of how the Hose Shop got started. The owner is a 110% dedicated, kind and helpful man who goes out of his way for his customers. He is a hard working self made man who built his business from the ground up and takes pride in what they do. If you need a product, custom or otherwise, the Hose Shop is the place to go for getting the work done. The stuff for our excursion saved us hundreds of dollars in parts and who knows how much in labor and the part for the mustang... the car will be years long gone before the hose shop part will ever fail. We were looking for a fitting to connect our new air compressor with our existing plumbing. For "weeks" I phoned, searched online or went to several places and none of them knew what kind of fitting I needed, including the manufacturer. Some guessed metric, some guessed British but all were confused. Then a couple of guys at Auto Zone told me to go to The Hose Shop. They guaranteed me that The Hose Shop will know what I'm looking for and will either have it or they'll make one. We didn't realize there was a business of this sort anywhere, much less in Yuba City. Sure enough a man at the counter started measuring with different kinds of gauges. He said something like I needed one kind of Japanese threads on one side and another type of Japanese threads on the other side and that fitting does not exist, but he could build me one in about thirty minutes time. Truthfully I did not understand what he was saying but damn, was I relieved. It was thoroughly entertaining watching two employees joking around with a customer while wrestling big angled fittings onto a huge ultrahigh pressure hose to put into a pressing machine. This business is like a store and a machine shop combined. Lots of inventory. Moreover there's whimsical yard art all around the place. I was told the artist is also the owner. He certainly has a very unique imagination. While out enjoying the art pieces a young man came to me passing over my fitting. It looked like it was made in a factory and fit perfectly. I'm completely blown away and we are thrilled to have our problem finally solved. read more
