I had a very slow leak under my kitchen sink that went undetected for quite some time, but unfortunately I discovered it just 2 days before a party I was hosting and I wanted to get it finished quickly. A co-worker recommended Hall's, and I called on Friday morning around 7:30AM. I spoke with one agent first, who got my information down--including my request to have service done that day--and was then transferred to a second agent who helped me secure a window from 4-6PM, which would allow me to still go into work and not have to cancel my dinner plans. I was told that I would receive a call 30 min before the plumber would be at my house. I kept my phone off silent to listen for a call, and so I wasn't in a huge hurry leaving work. I was just getting to my car at about 4:05 when I received a call from Austin stating he was at my house and had already called me. I had no record of a missed call, text, or email. Luckily, I work in town and was able to get to my house in about 10 minutes. Austin was very friendly and greeted me outside of my house. When he checked under my sink he saw that two of the valves were leaking, and also commented on the shoddy workmanship with the installation of the drain and garbage disposal: typical of new construction. I could kind of sense this was building a case for something, but I waited for him to give his pitch. He said his "foreman" would probably only approve a total replacement of the valves rather than try to repair a potentially poorly-installed and low quality valve, and also suggested a replacement of the 3rd valve since that one would likely leak as well. I have had similar issues with leaky valves in the house, so that didn't seem to be an unreasonable assumption. Finally, we got down to brass tacks: the estimate. He explained that Hall's is expensive because they are a big company with a lot of overhead, but they were also the best. I didn't really need or want that sell. He gave me the price, which despite the warnings was actually not that unreasonable given similar service I had with my other valves, so I readily agreed. He then started talking about scheduling the service, at which point I told him I was expecting to get the repair done that day, thanked him for the estimate, and said I would need to consider other options. This was not a strong-arm tactic: I was hosting a party the next day and wanted to get this done and dusted. Austin had to go ask for permission, which meant a further delay to the service. Austin was given permission to do the repair and got right to work. We chatted a bit while I was cleaning and he was working, and at one point he assured me that I had made the right choice to repair all of the valves because they were marked as "low lead" and insinuated they were not safe. I did a cursory search online to find this was a typical marking for legal compliance and not a cause for concern, but that the stainless steel valves he was installing were better quality and didn't contain even those trace amounts of lead. In addition to replacing the valves, Austin also adjusted the loose connections in the drain and put up a Junction box for the garbage disposal that had fallen down. He cleaned up after himself and tested to ensure everything was in working order. Payment was easily made with a card, and he was finished just before 6, giving me time to get ready for dinner and arrive just a little late. He did offer to look at the other sinks in the house, but I really couldn't delay any further and declined that offer. Austin did call me once more when I was on my way out of the house to see if the screws had accidentally punctured the outside wall of my kitchen island, but luckily that wasn't the case. If you value upfront pricing and quality service backed by a 1-year warranty, then you may want to consider Hall's for your next repair. If time efficiency is not the priority, I may also do the same. I also prefer a more no-nonsense approach. I would likely also trust them for any installations or major plumbing repairs, as they seem more resourced for bigger projects. read more

I had a slow leak in a PVC interchange of my water softener, irrigation, and house water main. Ian came to give me an estimate. I thought the price was high, but he was going to change the PVC to copper. It was a job I could have fixed myself for $100 with PVC, but I was worried the system was old and I decided to do it professionally. I had used Halls plumbing about 15 years ago to replace the sewer main to the street, and I liked the quality and the price. I later found out Halls had changed ownership... When Ian came to do the estimate the only 2 things that raised red flags were the price and the fact that he tried to sell me a Halls membership. A membership like that isn't something I would say yes to without researching. I was surprised he wanted me to sign up on the spot. It gave me 5% off the job but charged me $150, making the job $50 more. He told me it included water heater maintenance as well as an inspection under the house. I said no (red flag, needs research, gimmick?). It turned me off, but I didn't know Halls had changed ownership and I needed the job done. And I thought I was getting quality work and service. I did not. Antonio came to do the job. He was on his phone the entire time. It took him a few hours. The job looked good, but he must have either been too rough when attaching the copper pipes, he was distracted by his phone conversation, or he just did a bad job. 4 days later I came home to a flooded front yard. The pipe had broken before the house shut off valve at the elbow where the main came up from the ground. Water was uncontrollably pouring out everywhere next to my foundation. Jeff came out fairly quickly, shut the water off at the street, and over the course of a few hours fixed the problem. It has been a little over a week and no surprises. I called Halls to pay but had a few questions. They were not a definite "no" on if I'd have to pay for Antonio's mistake. That was disconcerting. I had to wait 3 days to find out if we were going to have to have an argument about that. I also looked on Hall's website about their membership. It did not list what the membership included. It said to call...that is weird. When I asked the secretary if it included an inspection under the house she said she didn't think so. I told her Ian said it did and she said she'd look into it...It should be transparent on the website. I had decided I might want to change my mind and get the 5% discount and have the under the house inspection. She told me it was too late to change my mind. Halls did a bad job and there is a good chance it was over priced. The plumber was distracted on the phone the entire time he was working. The person who gave me the estimate raised a red flag trying to sell me a membership on the spot. The broken pipe from the bad job made a mess of my yard, Halls didn't offer to clean it up, it also was a huge stressor to come home to a broken pipe with gushing water after it was supposed to be fixed with quality. Halls told me they weren't sure if I was going to be charged extra for their mistake (more stress). They could have at least said yes to letting me get the 5% discount, let me pay an extra $50 for the membership, and come out and do the under the house inspection. Instead I had a job done poorly for $2000, had a lot of stress, and will never use Halls again. I definitely don't trust them now. The only good thing was the plumber Jeff who came to fix Antonio's bad job. He was great. read more

My tankless water heater circ pump had not been hooked up properly and now needed to be replaced. He offered to order a new circ pump or allow me to replace it. t. I really appreciated his approach. Austin came and visited our rental house on a Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised that Hall's could send a service technician so promptly. Austin gave us a phone notification when he was 20-30 minutes away. We misunderstood and didn't realize he was at the house and had conducted the assessment until he was on the sidewalk. We caught him just when he was about to leave, and he was gracious in speaking with us and even went into the house to explain his diagnosis to us, using the visuals of the kitchen faucet. We had a spicket leak (copper pipe got kinked and cracked). Requested quotes from multiple outlets and only Hall's got back to us quickly. Within the hour calling, Jesus came out and assessed the problem and with input from his supervisor came up with a plethora of solutions. We had a plumber come out to inspect a bathroom toilet that visibly releases water from the overflow hole every single time it is flushed. This issue has been ongoing and is SUPER obvious. He did a quick test and told us there was "no leak," despite the fact that water continues to pour out of the hole with each flush. He then proceeded to upsell additional services without addressing or explaining the cause of the visible water issue. We were charged for the visit but no explanation or fix for the leak. In the evening of 9/30 my granddaughter, who is visiting couldn't turn off the hot water while she was doing the dishes. She immediately suggested that we call Yelp to fix this emergency. I had never used Yelp before but we tried. Fairly soon after our call we had a number of plumbers contact us and we found a plumber that could do the job early the next day and we booked a plumber. A little later I looked closely at the plumbers that were available and was surprised and happy to see Hall's plumbing because they were the ones that installed the original faucet around two years ago. I called Hall's Plumbing and was happy that an answering service was available to answer our call. I was told they would arrive between 8:00 and 6:00 thee next day, 10/1. I cancelled my original appointment with Yolo Plumbing. My handicapped wife and I stayed home awaiting Hall's arrival. The plumber arrived at 5:56 in the evening. He spent 5 minutes and said he couldn't fix the faucet so I told him to replace the faucet. He said he didn't have any extra faucet so I told him I would go to the hardware store and get a new faucet but he said he didn't have time to replace the faucet because he had other calls to make and that he only received our call an hour earlier from Hall's. I was unhappy but he said he had to go. The next morning I received a call from Yolo Reliable Repair and was told they could send some to my house in a couple of hours so I told them to come ASAP. I went to the hardware store and bought a faucet. While I was looking for a plumber I also said I was interested in a handyman but assumed Yolo Reliable Repair was a plumber. When Yolo Reliable Repair arrived, Mario had no trouble replacing the faucet but the water pressure was not strong enough which he said he had never seen before. Mario then looked at the old faucet and worked on it and within five minutes reinstalled the faucet that worked and has worked perfectly. While I was writing the check I discovered Mario was a handyman and not a licensed plumber but the job was done perfectly and I only spent $150 after I returned the unused faucet. Why Hall's dropped the ball on us, I have no idea but I will never call them again. They have actually done lots of work at my home and I thought they were expensive but always available. I feel like a fool. I could not write a worse review of Hall's nor a better review for Yolo Reliable Repair. I hope you will take appropriate action. Thank you, Bill Corliss read more

What an incredible experience we had with Hall's Plumbing! I called them just after 5pm when our water heater stopped working. They had someone at our house the next morning at 9am to look at our water heater. I decided that due to the age of our water heater and cost to repair it would be best to replace our water heater.
