I needed to get my key fob program so I called several places first before coming here. The shop have all kind of locksmith stuff related. I believe the prices vary depend on your car model & year. The owner charged me $60 to cut the key, program the fob & key itself. It's definitely cheaper than getting it done at the dealership! It took him less than 10 minutes and I was outta there. I'd recommend calling in first before you come. When I called to get a quote, the father picked up and told me his son was out. So I had to call back again to make sure his son was in the shop before coming. read more

These guys are very good. Being involved in property management, I use their service regularly. I've never had them come to a property, but I often bring locks for re-keying and have more keys made. Have never had a problem. The only reason that they are not a five star is because of their electronic miscommunications. The office is frequently closed because they are out in the field (or for whatever reason). And they are not very good about answering the phone or returning calls. So make sure that you call them AND REACH SOMEONE before you drive to their shop. Otherwise, you run the risk of the store being closed during normal business hours with no indication on the storefront of when they will re-open - not very convenient. read more

Wow, what a bad experience! I had 2 keys made in store by a young tall thin curly haired guy. One key was off 1MM on a ridge and the other had extra ridges that the original key did not have. I pointed it out and the young guy asks "are you a lock smith?" dismissing my comments. Bad attitude but I had my young son with me so I just said I'll try them out. At home I did try them out - the first key would not enter and the second key would not turn (I tried for a while). I took the keys back and told the same young guy exactly that the keys did not work. He had a really bad attitude and kept asking if I was a locksmith. I asked for a refund and he gave it to me while complaining about me not being a locksmith. After he handed my card and refund receipt back I said "I'm not a locksmith but if you paid a bit more attention to detail you'd have a happy customer" then I turned to leave. Then I hear him say "get back into your little convertible...". I wasn't sure I heard right since he said it under his breath so I turned and asked "what did you say?". He rips his mask off his face and says "I'm not scared of you. Let's go. Let's throw..." I was in shock and just looked at his face while he positioned his arms to make himself look bigger (as thin guys tend to do to look more... menacing). Why would I physically fight for $18?? I was going to address his comments verbally only but there was no way I was going to get anywhere with him so I simply turned around and left. I was in complete shock. Why would anyone feel it is worth getting into a fight for a slight disagreement. I debated long about posting this review. Yes, this is the only review on this account... there is something off about this young guy and I don't know what he would do. I've never encountered this before. read more

When in to make my payment since they didn't have a credit card machine just got my invoice so that was nice cut some other keys while I was there I was in and out within 10mins. I am extremely happy with the service I received from the Altadena lock and key shop. We got the keys to our new house at 3pm yesterday. I phoned at 3:30pm to have the locks all rekeyed. I was told that they could be with me in 15 mins and 10 mins later they arrived! Luis, the locksmith, assessed the 8 locks we wanted rekeyed and then swiftly made the changes. He made us 4 keys and waited patiently while I checked each key individually. Finally, he presented an extremely cheap invoice and as he didn't have a credit card machine with him, said I could phone the shop when I had a chance to pay with my credit card. I called these people after I had locked myself out of my home office. They promised someone would arrive within 20 minutes. Chen, arrives close to an hour after schedule time. He assesses the door and quotes me at $55 for a service charge and $375 to unlock the door because it is a "specialty lock." I immediately direct his attention to the company advertisement that charges $19 for a service call and the $35 house lock and key. He then defensive and says he needed to charge extra for the specialty door. He obviously was confused and thought he could haggle a woman who owns her home. I called my husband who came down the stairs within minutes to put Chen in his place. He immediately knocked down the charge to $175. I am still livid that the price quoted online ($19 for service call and $35 for house call) was not honored. Do yourself a favor and find another reparable company that will not lie to your customers about their prices. read more

Made an appointment with this company for a laundry list of locksmith jobs at my house--surely several hundred dollars' worth of work. Locksmith called at appointment time, 10 am, and asked to reschedule for 2 pm. I agreed. The locksmith then did not show up at the agreed-upon time, nor did he respond to my text and phone call to ask for an update. I've used their services 4 times (twice for my locks and home and twice for things I brought into the shop) and each time I was given exceptionally good service at a very reasonable rate. Not only was the work they did for me at my home about 1/2 the cost of the next lowest estimate I had obtained, they were also extremely prompt and very courteous. I took something small in last weekend and they offered to help me for free beacuse I had to wait a few minutes while they finished helping another customer.
