This restaurant was one that we wanted to try. The decor with the Italian checkered tablecloths, adds to the Italian family restaurant look. Everything was clean and inviting, menus came quickly and we settled on eggplant Parmesan for me, while hubs got the Italian sub with pasta fagioli soup. It wasn't a long wait and we watched as pizzas were pulled out of the oven. It's hard to imagine a better smell than freshly baked bread with cheese and tomato sauce. We had a good lunch, you can tell the chef knows how to prepare Italian food. Altavilla has a nice variety of appetizers, soups, subs and plenty of Italian classics like pizza, ravioli, chicken Parmesan and shrimp Fra Daivolo, which is a favorite. I'm sure Altavilla does a great job on this spicy entree. Parking is good here and the location is right off Collier. I'm glad we finally stopped by. read more

We decided to order carryout tonight (after many months break due to the pizza being very unimpressive) and were told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it took over 45 minutes before our pizza was finally ready. While we waited, the front desk staff didn't seem focused on helping customers and instead spent much of their time chatting and flirting with people at the cash register... I think that they need to be retrained and take their customers into consideration...especially the front house staff. Normally I wouldn't take time to post a review, but this has not been a reoccurring problem. When we did get our food, the pizza itself was just okay...not worth the wait. Overall, the experience was disappointing both in terms of service and quality. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because with some attention to customer service and better communication about wait times, this place could be much better. read more

I have eaten here many times and ordered takeout many more, the food is good. They are short staffed too frequently and if they forget to put somthing on the check because of it - no worries, they WILL call and let you know you owe them for an appetizer they mistakenly forgot off the check. Be ready to leave a tip, and be ready to be reminded of it AND thats for CARRYOUT, and if you dont they WILL add it themselves if your not paying attention. 1st off- they were short handed - wait staff called in sick. So we will not give them any negative comments on that. The servers were very friendly and as attentive as they could be. They continuously apologized for the slow service. We were seated in a very timely fashion although we did not have reservations. The complimentary bread was delicious and served warm. We ordered the barata salad appetizer which was beautifully presented and enough for us to share. It was on a bed of romaine and adorned with prosciutto, roasted red peppers and bruschetta. I had the chicken bruschetta for my entree. I ordered grilled chicken instead of the cutlet. It was cooked perfectly and very good. My husband had the orichettte pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage. It was good but not the best we have ever had. It lacked some flavor but didn't know exactly what. They have a nice wine & beer selection but really no bar to sit at. First time we ate here. Service: Great staff all pleasant Food: Best Antipasto Salad EVER. Fresh & the romaine had a nice crunch. Was a sort of raspberry vinaigrette. This is the best NY style pizza I've ever had in the state of Florida and better than any of the pizzas I've had in NJ the last few years. For many years it would be the case that whenever I flew back up to NJ to visit family, my first stop would be to my favorite pizzeria. I no longer have to do that after having discovered Altavilla a little over a year ago. The lunchtime cheese slice is a thing of both size and beauty - it is as big as my torso and it doesn't flop after you fold it. Delicious! read more

This place will be a new favorite of ours. They have two sides. One is a takeout pizza and grinder side and the other side is a sit down restaurant with Italian entrees. My husband ordered an Italian wedding soup to start. Really good. The free bread was good too. I ordered the eggplant rollatini. Very good. The only thing was I wish it was breaded but our server told me it wasn't before I ordered it so I wasn't surprised. My husband got one of the specials. It was a mild fish in a lemon butter sauce. He really enjoyed it. Our server told us we had to save room for dessert so we did. I got a cannoli and my husband got a lobster tail. We both enjoyed them. Our server was excellent. She was the only server and had about 9 tables at one point and she did a great job. My only "complaint" is I wish you could order from this pizza and grinder side of the restaurant when dining in. read more

Legitimate NY Italian, the meatballs are outstanding. the gravy was spot on. We've been there several times, it never disappoints. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Good tasting food, but.... my Spaghetti with clams left me wanting more pasta, not cooked al dente as well and way to much broth, didn't appreciate seeing chopped clams in my dish along side whole clams makes you think that they used canned clams. Didn't appreciate being charged $6 for a small salad that I thought came include with meals x 4= $24, they didn't give prices when we were being told about special, big surprise came when my bill came that I payed gladly and then returned with an apology that it was the wrong bill and presented me with one that was $60 higher which I payed and left a nice 20% tip. Having worked and eaten in some fine Italian restaurants in NY this experience wouldn't fly in my neighborhood. I vowed to return after season, as the food was good but service suffered because of the volume of customers they were trying to accommodate. It can happen when your food is good and the demand exceeds your ability to serve. We arrived at about 5 pm on a Saturday evening with no reservation. We were seated and served immediately. Our waiter was the manager, Pino Bartolommeo. I didn't tell him I was a Yelp reviewer until it was time for the check. My wife is very particular about her food and not bashful to send back something not prepared to her satisfaction. She said it was the best chicken parmigiana she had ever had and the portion was enormous. I on the other hand enjoy everything, just some things better than others. I'm not Italian, so I'm can't say whether isn't authentic Italian food or not. I do know that parmigiana cheese has to come from Italy and the the people that served me were Italian and I felt it was important to them that they served me an enjoyable meal. For those that enjoy value, I can say my $24 plate would cost upward of $40 other restaurants. The pictures show how much I enjoyed it. read more

Last night we dined at Altavilla Restaurant. We had eaten there 2 years ago and had not been back. As soon as we stepped in, It hit me why we hadn't been back. We had made a reservation for last night. When we arrived, there was one table filled with patrons. We were asked if we had a reservation. Yes. We were shown to the table right next to the filled table. We asked to sit over one table so we weren't on top of each other. That started the terrible attitude of the waitress (the same we had two years ago). She was arrogant, totally unfriendly. If we asked for anything, she tightened up her shoulders and cringed. Did I mention she continually kept scratching her head and hair? Yuck! As her other few tables came in, she could not have been friendlier...all smiles. We were nothing but polite to her. Our veal dinners were good, although pricey for the area. We ordered a glass of Pinot Noir, the only they had. $16 a glass! Had we suddenly been beamed to 5th Ave Naples? Ambience? Typical of a strip mall restaurant. read more

I ordered a small pizza an hour and a half ago and it's still not here. It's absolutely ridiculous when I contacted the Uber driver. He said the order wasn't ready yet. I don't know if I'll ever be ordering from this place again. It was my first time but I'm pretty disgusted! An hour and a half for a pizza? Come on and when it finally arrives, the pizza was cold you could tell it was sitting for a long time so I don't know if I believe the Uber driver, but this pizza was terrible. read more

Had dinner on a Sunday night.Greeted by an excellent waiter Chris, who informed us of the corkage fee since we brought our own wine. Chris offered to decant the wine which was classy. We spilt sausage with broccoli rabe pasta app.....fabulous! The fish is super fresh and was cooked perfectly. The owner, Franco, came out and sat down with us, which added to our experience. This is by far the best restaurant in all of Naples. The food is TRUE Authentic Italian Cusine using the freshest ingrediance and italian bread and the garlic knots made daily and served hot from the oven with butter and olive oil are out of this world.... My favorite is Chef Franco's special. Orrechietti with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage and of course Chef will come out to make sure your dinner was to your liking but if you are lucky enough to get Janene as your server, she is fabulous!!! My family goes here all the time and when I come into town, I insist on a visit for at least one dinner and always request her. She always serves my VERY demanding and crazy family and their guests with such ease and alway a smile, and believe me, this past visit was a little crazy and she was so so gracious, everyone just loves her. She goes WAY beyond what most servers do and makes the dining experience that much more fun! She will give you great suggestions if you can't decide!!! Referred to this place by friends saying they are not very busy during the season. I can see why they are not busy. Know that they do not use salt on food. That is good for some dishes, but the Chicken Marsala lacked flavor. The dish tasted like I was eating a plate of mushrooms. It didn't have much of a taste beyond that. Service was not great considering there were very few customers. At one point, lady server poured win into the glass so quickly, she didn't wait until the wine was entirely poured into the wine glass so it spilled on the table. She was so oblivious to what happened as she hurried away. Will not be going back. read more

We went last night on a recommendation. I had the slice, which was the biggest slice I have ever had. It's nice that I could get a slice at dinner, as most places only have slices at lunch. The pizza was delicious and was truly a NY thin pizza. My husband had the Sicilian pizza, and he said it was delicious as well. I love that they have Coke products. Also, I had a cannoli, and I think it was the best cannoli I have ever had. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I love being able to support a great local business. We will be back for sure! read more

Great pizza, friendly staff. The trattoria is closed at this point. Enjoyed a great NY style skinny crust pizza and a respectable Caesar salad. There is limited seating in the pizza side, but it's pleasant to sit and watch the dough being tossed and the pizzas going in and out of the ovens. Dined on pizza with a cold Peroni last night at this friendly little strip center eatery. First time for us. We actually ate in the take out section area instead of the dining room. Not sure why we didn't go next door to the dining room but it worked out well and it was kind of fun to see all the action on the kitchen side. Pizza and service are everything we've read about....it's all quite good! Went to Altavilla for the first time last night during my trip to Naples and wow! Truly the best Italian food in south Florida and everyone was so kind and welcoming! Being a NJ native, I'm very picky about my Italian food and this tasted just like home. Went to the trattoria and the food is very good and the service is great; however, they won't make any changes. Asked for marinara instead of oil and it was not allowed. Would not let vegan take meatball off of the spaghetti and didn't even serve it on the side. I like the place but if you are a real chef you can accommodate special requests.
