We arrived early for our reservation to have a drink at the bar, but found it packed. We managed to squeeze in a corner where I ordered a lemon drop martini. I must have made a face when I took my first sip as the bartender asked me if I liked it. Actually I didn't, It might be the worst I have ever drank, and I order them all the time. He asked what he could do to make it better, and I didn't really know what was wrong with it. Maybe there wasn't any simple syrup? We were fortunately seated outside, as it was very noisy inside. We had a great table and our server came with our menu and the wine list as well as some crusty bread. There are numerous salads, appetizers, entrees, and even pizza on the menu. I started with a Caesar salad, which I thought was super pricey, but was very good. I was able to enjoy it before I ordered my entree. I chose the gnocchi and a glass of wine. The gnocchi came out in minutes and was some of the lightest, fluffiest gnocchi I have had since New York City ages ago. Good choice. If you want the true Italian experience on 5th Ave in Naples, Molto absolutely delivers. From the moment you walk in, the energy is incredible, the bar scene is lively and packed (even at 5 pm on a Sunday!). It honestly felt like the place to be. We started with espresso martinis, and I loved that you can customize them: creamy with Baileys or without, and even regular or decaf, which is such a nice touch if you're out for the evening but don't want to be wired all night. Of course we did finish our night with these as well. Food-wise, there were some real standouts. The Caesar salad was to die for, so fresh and flavorful. The Tagliolini Pescatora in a light red sauce with homemade pasta was absolutely incredible and easily one of the best dishes of the night. The veal parmesan special was massive (as you can see) and perfect for sharing. The only small note was the gnocchi, which were a bit softer than we prefer, we tend to like them a little more al dente. There were huge chunks of mozzarella within it as well! Still tasty, just a texture preference. As usual for Naples, restaurant was buzzing early, but by around 8 pm it started clearing out (aka "Naples midnight"). Had to order the meatballs as they were featured on the show but that was probably the weakest of the three things I had. The meatballs weren't bad, but they did not blow me away. We are regular repeat customers - and although this place has become incredibly popular, busy and crowded sometimes - we still love it and it lives up to the billing. We like to go in the off season as it is easier to get a table and hang out at the bar before hand. I really wanted to love Molto, and there were a lot of things to like. The vibes felt very authentic, which I appreciated, and the service was amazing--really attentive and thoughtful. We tried three different pizzas, the mushroom truffle pasta, lobster pasta, Greek salad (my personal favorite), calamari with shrimp, and the eggplant Parmesan. The eggplant Parmesan was definitely a standout--really delicious. That said, for some reason, it just didn't fully click for me. We had the option of indoor or outdoor dining. We opted for the outdoor dining. Since we were a party of five, they put two tables together. A female server took our order right away. It took a long time for the drinks and food to come out. My bf and I shared a Margherita Pizza. It took a long time just to find a server to request some oregano. You would think in a casual Italian restaurant they would have it on the table? Even with the oregano, I thought the pizza tasted like cardboard. There were other issues. I think one person out of the five of us, enjoyed their meal. When we were finished eating, it took forever for someone to come to clear the table. Again, we waited a long time for someone to come with the checks. The initial server came back with the checks. Unfortunately, she had an attitude. Maybe there was an issue getting enough help? My experience began with a very warm greeting from the staff. We were able to sit anywhere since we went mid-afternoon. The dining room is absolutely adorable! The bar is very enticing as well and I'll be back, when possible, to sit at the bar and enjoy happy hour! Given the time of day, only ordered a cocktail and "snack" -- pizza. The cocktail was delicious. I was pleased they were able to accommodate me by changing rum instead of vodka due to an allergy. Wish I could recall the cocktail's name. There were SO many that sounded delicious! I ordered the pizza that has 1/3 margarita, 1/3 with Buffala cheese & 1/3 with arugula and prosciutto. The pizza was absolutely delicious and definitely reminded me of the pizza I had in Napoli, Italy. The crust was very thin and also very tasty. The ingredients used tasted top notch! The same woman took our orders but every once in a while, a male would come over to ask if we need anything but anything we asked him for did not come. Here's what we ordered and what I thought: Apps: - Molto Pizza -- very good! Parma was my favorite (most flavorful). - Calamari -- very good, came with shrimp. Should have added lemon. - Caesar Salad -- added anchovies for $3 and the server didn't tell me that first. The bruschetta appetizer was phenomenal on warm toasted bread. Caprese was simple and delicious. For dinner we had the chicken parm and pasta with meatballs. They weren't bad but I wish we had chosen different dishes. The chicken parm was too breading heavy for my liking and wasn't like a traditional bread crumbed cutlet. I also like my cutlets very thin. The meatballs lacked flavor to me and the sauce wasn't anything amazing. I think it would've been better to go with some specialities on the menu and things that are less American. My Lord Molto was an intimidating experience... at first! Rolling up on a Friday night on a very busy 5th Ave sidewalk I wasn't sure what to expect. I appreciate that while you wait outside the bar is happy to make a cocktail for you to take outside and supplement your people watching (and what a watch it is). We didn't wait too long past our res time despite how busy it was (good sign). After we settled in I was hesitant to order an espresso martini until I tried my husbands and you can tell the coffee quality was just the pick me up I needed. (Great sign). Fast forward to the main event - food and service and neither disappointed. Again I get a little anxious if I have to compete for my servers attn and he was on top of it; he was funny and he was impressed with my husbands ability to filet an entire branzino down to its mere vertebra. I had spinach ricotta ravioli and they were freshly made and pasta nice and thin .. melt in your mouth phenomenal. Out of the countless Italian restaurants in downtown Naples, Molto seems to have the most hype--they've got a line out the door on a weekday evening, reservations are a bit hard to come by, and they've got their endorsement from Guy Fieri on prominent display. I usually shy away from hype, both because I hate waiting, and because hype can be manufactured from things that are completely irrelevant to the quality of the food. I'm happy to report that Molto's hype is entirely deserved and I would actually wait in line to eat here. I came with my husband and in-laws for dinner on a Monday night, and as soon as we walked up and saw how many people were waiting, we were so glad to have a reservation. We were seated pretty much right at our reservation time and ushered to a cozy table indoors right by the wine room. The atmosphere inside is warm and bustling. It's lively enough that you don't feel like you're in an art museum, and you can have a private conversation with your table, but not so loud that you have to shout. Tables are close together and you do need to be mindful of throughways but it doesn't feel cramped. They have a menu that will please pretty much anyone's taste, and a long roster of specials that outstripped even what was written on the specials board. Our server for the night, "J", was incredible knowledgeable about all the food and wine and was able to give great recommendations for everyone. We had the focaccia stella and the burrata to start, and I had one of the specials, a squid ink pasta with seafood. All their pasta is handmade, and they take a particular pride in their marinara sauce. Their focaccia is thin and crunchy (not thick and bouncy) and cut into wedges, topped with basically an arugula salad with tomatoes and olives. It was not what we expected but it was incredibly delicious. That thinner crispier focaccia is perfect for an appetizer. The burrata is fresh and creamy, as you'd expect. Their squid ink pasta is probably the best squid ink pasta I've ever had. The pasta itself is toothsome and textured so as to pick up every bit of sauce. The squid and shrimp on my dish were cooked perfectly and clearly fresh. My dinner buddies, who had the veal ravioli, the soup of the day (a white bean soup), tagliatelle bolognese, spaghetti with marinara sauce, and margherita pizza were all really happy with their dinners and there were clean plates all over the table. Despite all that, we had to have some tiramisu for dessert. I figure if a place takes such pride in their pasta, their tiramisu can't be bad. I wasn't wrong. Best tiramisu I've had in a while. I even chanced ruining my sleep with the nighttime espresso and I have no regrets. No regrets at all for anything that evening. read more

What a great find on 5th! Came for my husband's birthday on a friend's recommendation. The feel is very authentic- even the staff speak Italian. Greeted with water and bread right away. Definitely ask for the hot oil to dip your bread in. It was amazing! Very spicy! Since it was our first time we couldn't decide between the pizza and the pasta so we got a margarita pizza for appetizer and went with the homemade pasta for dinner. We were a party of six looking forward to a long awaited gathering. Immediately our waitress, who was VERY nice, told us we would get one basket of bread but we would have to pay if we wanted more. We thought this was an odd way to start a meal but whatever. There were six tiny pieces in the basket. Seriously, what would it cost them to bring another basket? We all placed our orders and were looking forward to a great Italian meal but the food was TERRIBLE. My husband's chicken parm had literally NO flavor. Zero. He said it was literally the worst he'd ever had. My brother in law said the same about his and in addition, his pasta was very pasty and the sauce had no flavor. One ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognaise and stated the pasta was far from al dente. Another guest's chicken was severely undercooked BUT BY FAR THE WORSE was the first cut into my eggplant parm produced an extremely long black hair. Eccchh! The dish was quickly removed and later replaced with another however, by that time, everyone else was finished with their meal. A sincere apology came from our waitress, but no visit from the owner/manager, no comped meal. It was an appetizer for $20.
