Driving through Naples and we found this restaurant on Yelp. What a cozy little place! Their website says "Our food is made with Love" and I believe it! I've never been to Italy but I imagine this is what it would be like. Sonia was our server and I think she's also the owner, she seemed to know most of the customers there, many who also spoke Italian. My fiancée had a craving for lasagna and at first we didn't see it on the menu but Sonia pointed out that it was called Trio dello Chef and came with cannelloni and manicotti. Then she said "you only want lasagna? That's fine!" Very accommodating. The lasagna was amazing and came with a side salad but I think I was more surprised that our two side orders of garlic bread and meatballs (3) were probably the BEST I've ever had! This is one of the best restaurants in Naples - let alone the best Italian restaurant. The food was spectacular - the lasagna feels like you're in Italy, the pasta dishes are fresh and good portions. The bruschetta was amazing, I felt like I was having the best sausage from the Italian Market in Philly! (which is cappuccio's btw), the deserts were amazing - and even though we were full they felt very light. The homemade tiramisu is a must - if not go for the chocolate cake. read more

The food was really good and I ordered dessert it was very nice. Wow...the service was slow (20 mins before a server arrived to the table...only after I requested), portions small, and seafood special was Long Jong Silver style (breaded smelt). As soon as we walked in the door, the staff was kind, quick, and helpful. They brought drink and homemade bread (which is amazing) right away. We got the calamari for an appetizer, and there wasn't much on the plate compared to past dinings, but it was still phenomenal as always. We got the Penne ala Vodka with shrimp, and it was really good, and heats up great at home. We also got the Italian Trio, and it was nice to be able to sample 3 separate dishes. We ended with the chocolate cake and an espresso. The chocolate cake was very rich and amazing, and the espresso was fresh, the perfect way to end a dinner. We will definitely be back! read more

My birthday dinner is always Italian. While searching for places, and with a little YELP from you guys we found this gem of a place. I called and spoke to Sonia who accommodated with a reservation. What we didn't know was they were closing after tonight for the summer break. Loved that Sonia made her way around a few tables to check on folks dinner. She didn't stop by us, but it was ok. As she was so busy because the place packed very quickly. Ok, to the review. Short and sweet . Salad was ok, meatballs could have been heated up more, bruschetta was incredible, fettuccine with clams and mussels very very good, wife's chicken piccata could have had more fettuccine, and our son had a dish of pasta with oil and sausage. I know simple, but the fact that they accommodated our son (special needs) and made his dish with as much love means the world to us. He loved it. Wine was great. Deserts were incredible. We couldn't decide on 1 so we just ordered 4 (tart, spumoni, tiramisu and cannoli) of them. Susie our server was a star from start to finish. Reading the reviews I saw they charge extra for using cc so I used cash. But that was not a problem. The service , ambiance, and food were all on point. Saw so many great reviews so had to try it. Just didn't shine at all. Meatball app was fair at best. Small and not moist at all. One dinner linguini white clam. Pretty average pasta and clams very chewy. 2nd dinner cavatelli and shrimp with red sauce. Shrimp very small and only 4. Pasta ok but not great. Overall- nothing special. First time for me not to finish a meal at an Italian restaurant. It was busy for a Wednesday night. Service was good. Portions in line with moderate prices. I just did not think that a value was served. Caesar salad looked like it was out of a plastic bag. The dressing was served on the side and tasted like a cheap store bought dressing. I thought the calamari was perfectly fried but the marinara was lackluster. We simply did not like the bolognese sauce. Definitely was not simmered long enough and did not taste good at all. The music seemed too loud. Maybe because it was awful music for any restaurant never mind an Italian restaurant. We sat outside. Basically on the covered sidewalk of a strip-mall. It was too bright and the white led lights were harsh on the eyes. I will not make plans to return when there are so many other Italian restaurants to pick from. By the way, when our check came. We were told that there would be an additional fee if we used a credit card to pay. Poor business practice! read more

Fun family restaurant owned by Italians directly from Italy (Not to be confused with NJ Italians). The food is fresh, homemade, made with love, and served with all of the genuine hospitality that transport you back to your last trip to Italy. As we just returned to Naples for the season, my husband and I were so excited to get a reservation at Trattoria Mangia. We don't know what has happened but we were so disappointed. The bread served was one step above white toast, the salad was soaked in balsamic and we couldn't eat it and our meals did nothing to change our disappointment. I had the special pork and beef braciola with walnut ravioli. The pork braciola was mushy and the ravioli should've been cooked a little more. My husband had the lobster ravioli with shrimp and he said it was mediocre. The best part of our visit was the two accordion players. Tratorria Mangia was one of our favorite restaurants and sadly we will not return. read more

Such an excellent dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended, because I walked in without them on a Tuesday at 4:30pm and the place was filling up fast! I was seated but told I had to be done by 5:45pm because the table was reserved for another party. The decor was cozy and inviting, the staff was super friendly and they had me in and out in no time but without rushing me. The food was excellent with very large portions. There was more than enough to take for my lunch the next day. The quality of the food was superb! My dinner came with a really fresh side salad and warm bread. After reading the reviews I figured I'd give Trattoria Mangia a try. It had these glowing reviews about its authentic Italian food and how it's a must try and you won't be disappointed blah blah blah. Well I was disappointed and actually bothered that I dropped almost $300 (which includes $55 on a bottle of wine) on some of the worse Italian food I've had in a long time. Geez where the heck do these people eat giving this place 4-5 ? I will admit I probably have higher expectations then most especially when it comes to restaurants rated 5 stars but this place is a 3 max. Olive Garden makes tastier food and that says a lot. Okay before I go off Trattoria Mangia is a cute place, nicely decorated with cute relics which gives it a cozy feeling. The staff was friendly and service was okay but none of that matters when the food is not that good. To begin with Trattoria needs to get rid of that cheap greasy, tasteless olive oil that's on the table. It's just pure garbage! Water and bread came out relatively quick. The bread was served warm and was not bad but I made the mistake of dipping it a little olive oil, salt, pepper & cheese sauce I made. The cheap flavorless olive oil just ruin it. Anyway, started off with 2 appetizers La Fragaia (fried calamari) & the Guazzetto (mussels). The Fragaia came with 2 shrimp, some calamari and a whole bunch of zucchini (all lightly battered and fried) looked great but was tasteless/bland except for the zucchini. The Guazzetto (mussels) which came in a nice fresh tasting tomato sauce was pretty good. The following entree's were ordered Penne alla Vodka - tasteless, I've had better vodka sauce out of a bottle. Veal Modo Mio - paper thin all you could taste was the breading Flounder Francese - another tasteless entree, I knew I was eating fish but very bland. Shrimp Scampi - the shrimp were good, the sauce was below average. Note: all entrees were ordered with linguine because we were told it was homemade however, the taste fell short. Your choice of salad came with each entree. We went with the Ceasar salad which did come out on a cold plate ( 1 point) however dressing tasted store bought.. Trattoria Mangia is like cruise ship food it's looks so delicious but when it hits your mouth you're like "it's terrible" I love trying new places and do rely on Yelp reviews to guide my decision but it hurts when everyone over rate's restaurants. read more

Trattoria Mangia is awesome! Great ambiance and excellent service that goes perfectly with their homestyle cooking. From the moment you walk in you can help but feel the warmth and coziness of this place. Seriously... just like walking into a friends home. The wine list isn't big but has a little bit of everything. Dinner was great and plates are pretty big. Fried Calamari: perfect crunch and it comes with fried zucchini and the sauce is light and tangy. Fresh fish: grilled and comes with veggies or other 2 sides of your choice. Veal porcini: Delicious, lots of mushrooms and the sauce is creamy ... not heavy. The place gets packed so plan ahead.it isn't a big restaurant and people here come to eat and talk.... there is no rush when you are at Mangia's table. My family absolutely loves Trattoria Mangia! The service is great but the food is amazing! I'm fairly critical of Italian food and I must say that every dish I've had here is wonderful. The homemade pastas and sauces are great! Tonight for me it was the Chicken Parmigiana feature with Pomodoro sauce. Delicious!!
