Dena saved my wedding, and my dress! She's a highly skilled seamstress who has the vision to see and explore possibilities outside the seams. I HIGHLY recommend. Another alterations person did a botch job on my wedding dress; with only two weeks until the big day, it was recommended by a second alterations person to buy another because fixing would be too big of a job, and maybe not possible. But not by Dena; Dena had the vision and confidence that she could fix my dress in time. She completely reconstructed the lace arms (adding extra fabric to a complicated lace pattern) and bodice/under-layer of my dress; I could lift my arms and my boobs didn't float like weird islands! She also saw that the bustle had been unevenly sewn and fixed with ease. If you're in a time crunch, do recommend proactively following up with Dena as she's a busy lady and things can move + shift in her day; a simple call in the morning to check-in did the trick for me! I took my dress to Dena to have hemmed as it was too long for my nieces posh wedding. Her set up was very professional and she was very nice as well. As I left, she said it wouldn't cost that much as it was just a hem. I told her when I needed the dress and was on my way. I picked up my dress a few weeks later and she charged me $90!!!! I couldn't believe it! I reminded her that she has said it wouldn't be much but she was firm on the price, so I paid and that is why I am only giving 3 stars. I really liked the reviews I read, and now notice they're old. I didn't have a great experience this summer. I made an appointment to come to her house but she wasn't there. Just as I left after waiting for 15 minutes I saw a car pull into her driveway. After she unloaded packages and told me a bout the luncheon she'd been to she measured my gown for shortening. I said I needed it in 3 weeks. Then called a few days before. She said she'd finish it that afternoon. $60 hem and it came completely unraveled before the wedding even started. read more

I was referred to her by a friend of mine so I gave her a call. I had TWO days to find someone to do an emergency alteration on my dress for my husbands surprise 40th birthday. I thought there was no way in hell I'd be able to find someone to help me. I called Dena and she said she could have it ready to me by noon the very next day! After leaving some things with Dena, I was surprised to have them returned to me all chewed up and sewn together sloppily. Apparently, she had a rodent infestation and the mice ate some of my items!!! When she called to tell me they were ready (after about a month) she didn't even mention it! Dena is amazing! I bought a wedding dress that was way too small and Dena was able to put in a corset back to make it fit! She not only did the corset, but also had to take out the hips, shorten the length, put in a built in bra AND a bustle. Normally this is a lot but she did this all on a lace dress where certain parts needed to be hand stitched back into place. Dena made my dress the dress of my dreams! Not only that but she did it at a quarter of the cost that any other alteration place quoted me. I cant say enough about Dena and her skills! I recommend her 100%!!!! read more

Dena is the sweetest lady! Very quick too! She put a button on my jeans. She looked at my jeans and also reinforced the area where the button was to be placed. High quality work! She charged me less than the taylor/alteration place I took my jeans to the first time, who not only damaged the button they attached to my jeans, but didn't even suggest or recommend reinforcing the button area. Four days before I was a bridesmaid in a wedding, I called Dena panicked and in tears because my floor-length skirt was too long and I couldn't walk without tripping. She saw me the next morning, had it done the following day, and it was absolutely perfect. She did an impeccable job with two layers of hemming (it had a long slit) and it was the perfect length. I dropped off several things for Deena to repair. Weeks later she stil had not repaired them. Finally, she admitted that MICE HAD DESTROYED MY ARTICLES. Some things she did not return at all, and some were ruined. Although what I gave her to repair was priceless to me, including an heirloom, all she agreed to do was repair $75 worth of new stuff for free. Did you read that right? So disappointed. I dropped off a wedding dress for Dena to hem. Quick turn around- only one week. When I went to pick it up, the hem was so short. My shoes were showing fully in the front and she left no train in the back, which I specially instructed her to leave the train on. She said she would be able to add back length with the extra material she cut off. I picked up the dress a second time and length was added back on, however there is a large line in the back where she added back length. I took it to another tailor and she said there was nothing she could do- and then pointed out a bright blue pen mark at the bottom of the back of my dress. I just hope it's not too noticeable. Not to mention the first time I went to pick it up, she asked if she could keep my sash. Um, no. Then when I brought the dress back for her to fix, she said she still had the lace, but then couldn't find it. She mysteriously found an identical piece of lace, but she said it wasn't from my dress ( but tried to be a savior and think she saved the day). Brides stay away!!!! Definitely too stressful of an experience and ruined my gown. read more
