I took a pair off pants to get them altered and I told Rose that I needed them by a certain day. Well, when I went to collect them, she said they weren't ready and to come back tomorrow. Then I went back and she told me they couldn't find them. Then she started looking everywhere for them and finally found them in a basket. Well, that basket was for clothes that hadn't been started on yet. I held my composure and asked her to please have them ready for me, because I needed them the next day. She had finally gotten them done. Then, another time I took a gown in to have it altered. Again her daughter wasn't there. So, I asked her if she could alter my gown, because I was going to be in a wedding. When I picked up my gown and tried it on at home, one side of my dress was longer than the other, but I had no time for her to fix it, because the wedding was the next day. Now today 5/10/26, I went in to see if my pants and a dress could be altered. I asked Rose if her daughter is back from her vacation and she said no. I heard the lady she was attending say that the daughter wasn't coming back to the states. So, I just said "okay thank you" and I left to look for another place to do the altering. I wish they would warn the customers before they start on our clothes.

Another alterations person did a botch job on my wedding dress; with only two weeks until the big day, it was recommended by a second alterations person to buy another because fixing would be too big of a job, and maybe not possible. But not by Dena; Dena had the vision and confidence that she could fix my dress in time. She completely reconstructed the lace arms (adding extra fabric to a complicated lace pattern) and bodice/under-layer of my dress; I could lift my arms and my boobs didn't float like weird islands! She also saw that the bustle had been unevenly sewn and fixed with ease. If you're in a time crunch, do recommend proactively following up with Dena as she's a busy lady and things can move + shift in her day; a simple call in the morning to check-in did the trick for me! I needed everything oiled, cleaned, and lubed -- in the classic car world this is known as detailing -- the whole nine yards. If you want someone who knows about anything having to do with sewing machines or vacuum cleaners, go and see Joe. This gem of a shop is like going back in time. It's not one those slick and glamorous Mall stores but is kinda like something you'd find in Mayberry (the Andy Griffith show). Lots of machines in various states of repair, new merchandise for sale and the comforting smells of cleaners and such since the actual work is done in store. I took my sewing machine in on Friday morning and picked it up Saturday afternoon and wasn't charged Mall store prices. Very, very fair and reasonable prices and I swear it looked like it had been waxed and polished, like a new car right off the showroom floor. She worked so hard to make it fit right but when she gave me the quote, I had to be honest and say it wasn't worth it to me because I was only wearing it for half an hour. She didn't get mad, but instead she worked with me to figure out what we could do instead to make it within my budget. After showing me her expertise in knowing what to do to still make it look good, I knew I could trust her with my wedding dress. Things I never considered, she knew and could advise. For example, I honestly thought my wedding dress was good enough, but after her comment about the hip area for my red dress, I knew I just had to have her look at the white dress as well. Her work is always clean and professional. Whether it's pants, skirts, or dresses, you can't even tell they've been hemmed - they look like they came that way. She also has a good turnaround time, and fittings are always fast and easy. My only suggestion would be a bit more transparency around pricing. I usually don't know the cost or the price breakdown until it's time to pay. Other than that, I've had consistently great experiences and would definitely recommend her.
