    Finished wedding dress

TLDR; I would trust Bayo with alternations for my most precious garments and you should too. Hands down the best experience with a tailor I've ever had. Not only is he an exceptional tailor, he is one of the most kind and genuine people you will meet. This is sort of a long story...in January I selected a wedding dress from a bridal shop in San Francisco and waited the 5 months to receive it (not custom, it just takes forever). In May I began the alterations process with a different seamstress in town. After 3 fittings and that seamstress telling me the bust of the dress could not be altered and I needed to "get my bust way up" via boob tape or sticky bras in order to fit into the dress, I was feeling uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine having my bust taped way up in an uncomfortable position for 10+ hours on my wedding day. My wedding was now just over a month out and the dress was torn apart. I took the dress to Bridal Veil in Capitola to see if any undergarments could help and to get a second opinion. Lisa at Bridal Veil is an absolute angel. She didn't even sell me by wedding dress but she went way above and beyond to try all of the possible bra/undergarment solutions to make it work. She was really honest with me and told me that the only person who could possibly alter my dress was Bayo, and she called in a personal favor with him. I took the dress straight over to Bayo's studio on the West Side, at this point feeling devastated that I might have to purchase a different dress altogether. Bayo was incredibly kind, warm, and professional. He had me put on the dress and told me yes, he could alter the bust to fit me and yes, he could have it done in time for my wedding. I was shocked. Bayo is incredibly skilled in alterations after working in the bridal industry and also designing his own fashions for 20+ years. Bayo has a keen eye for how clothes should fit and the skill to make them look like they were made for your body. I went for a few fittings in Bayo's studio and each time he made me feel so comfortable and welcome, sharing incredible stories about his life and career. This could not have been more different than my experience at the other alterations place, where I felt really uncomfortable. My mom had her dressed hemmed by Bayo as well and also loved spending time with him. Bayo charged me less than 1/3 of the price that the other place quoted me, and he did way more work than she was willing to do. I honestly feel that he undercharged for the alterations he did for me. He redid the darts on the bust, adjusted the shoulders, took in the waist and hips, hemmed, the dress, and put in a beautiful French bustle. Oh and he steamed/pressed the dress for me! The dress turned out beautifully - I received endless compliments on my wedding day about how well it fit and I felt amazing in it all day. Bayo, I truly cannot thank you enough for you exceptional work. I'll be recommending Bayo to all of my friends in family in Santa Cruz from now on!

Lisa at Bridal Veil in Capitola explained to me that Bayo was the only person I should see for my wedding dress alterations as I had to select a dress off the rack for my destination wedding. Bayo made the entire experience very easy and he did a beautiful job with the alterations. I would highly recommend Bayo for any alterations needed, he is a master of his craft. Bayo is kind, helpful, creative and makes you feel completely at ease. He steamed my dress and my veil and prepped it for our destination wedding in Maui. I will be recommending him to all of my friends.

Final results - torso taken in, sleeves tightened, and dress hemmed

This review is long overdue, but I am SO grateful for Bayo. Please feel free to read more below, but TLDR: If you need help with alterations, look no further - Bayo is the best!! I wanted to look for a local tailor/seamstress in Santa Cruz, and after much research I decided to check out Bayo. I first reached out to Bayo in February (2023) in preparation for my wedding in May (same year). I learned later on that he had previously been an alterations person for David's Bridal, which was perfect because he actually recognized the dress I brought in (long story short, I didn't know where the dress was originally bought). At the first meeting, he was warm, welcoming, and helped give words/clarification for the alterations I wanted, which were to take in the torso, tighten the sleeves, and to hem the dress. He was very transparent about the price, which was quite reasonable, and I was happy to help out a local business. The game plan was that we would meet a few times in the months leading up to my wedding for fittings, and that I would pick up my dress one week before the big day. The process of getting fitted and talking through the alterations was SO smooth. Bayo makes sure that you are comfortable and at ease, which was important for me. I was admittedly nervous about going to a tailor alone, but my anxieties were quickly dispelled - Bayo is one of the warmest, gentle, and kind souls I've met in SC, and I felt so indebted to him and his expertise. Our monthly check ins went great, and I even got his advice on which veil to pair with my dress (which he so graciously steamed along with my dress!). All in all, I would recommend Bayo for any of your alterations needs, especially for those who need help with bridal alterations. I was so happy with the final results, and the dress looked and felt great on my wedding day! Super happy to have crossed paths with Bayo, and I plan on referring my friends to him if needed!

I took my wedding dress to I.B. Bayo on a recommendation from a friend, and I am so glad I did! He did a wonderful job with the alterations I needed for a very reasonable price. He communicated well and I always felt comfortable with exactly what I wanted and what he needed from me.

Bayo did such a great job! I've been so busy with work that I completely forgot to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. The wedding was only 2 weeks away!(May 11th) & he was able to get it done by (May 8th) & I was so thankful. Not only that, he was local and his prices are extremely reasonable for the work he does. He ironed and steamed my dress which I really appreciated! He was great to work with. Communicated well. Great to be around. It was just an overall amazing experience. I'll definitely be back!!! Pics coming

I.B. added a modesty panel and additional straps using material from my mother's wedding gown. I was very happy with how it turned out.

I.B. did the alterations for my wedding dress. He did a beautiful job and had a quick turnaround.

Wedding dress with train and no noticeable bustle attachment.

I would trust Bayo with my most prized article of clothing! He does such an amazing job. I have worked with him twice now. Once for a bridesmaid dress and most recently for my wedding. He was able to create a bustle attachment that was virtually invisible, so it wasn't noticeable from my wedding dress when the train was down. He does impeccable work and I will be sending work his way for years to come.

    Picture Perfect Alterations by Bayo!

Honestly I don't even know where to begin! Bayo is quite possibly the most talented designer I have ever met! He singlehandedly SAVED my wedding day, and I am not exaggerating! My story quickly goes like this.... I purchased this dress soon after I got engaged to the love of my life. We had yet to pick a wedding date but I figured when you find the right dress, buy it!! Due to hormonal challenges I promptly gained 20 pounds and avoided my dress for a full year until my fiancé and I picked a wedding date and I couldn't procrastinate any longer. As I anticipated, the dress didn't quite fit me but still was definitely "THE DRESS" so I ordered it in the next size. With 6 months to go I anxiously waited for my dress to arrive! When it finally did I couldn't wait to try it on.... it was definitely bigger but still not quite big enough in some areas. A challenge with fit and flare style dresses. The bridal shop sent me to a local Santa Cruz alterations lady who, without hesitation or emotion, said..."yeah so this dress doesn't fit you"! With 3 weeks to my wedding, I had a massive meltdown! I called my bridal shop hysterical, I was sick! Couldn't believe that this is what I was facing so close to my wedding. I quickly started looking at options, off the rack dresses, anything... while still feeling devastated at the idea that I may not marry my life long love in this dress. Lisa and Joanne, Bridal Veil Capitola, assured me that everything would be fine and asked me to put my full trust and confidence in them to fix this situation. I, of course, did.... SO glad I did! Along came Bayo!!!! YAY!!! Lisa called me and said quickly text the picture taken of me and my bridesmaids 2 weeks prior while conducting their dress fittings and send it to this number.... it was Bayo. With only a picture and last measurements Bayo promptly went to work. I was asked to come into the bridal shop a few days later and meet with Bayo and my dress. It was unbelievable what he had already accomplished in such a short time. The dress DID fit, it just needed a bit of restructuring. I can't even begin to describe the aura of Bayo, so calming, so caring, so reassuring. He held such a great confidence in his work and his own abilities and was able to take the fear and anxiety I was feeling and make it all ok again. This IS the dress I was going to get married in, and as I write this review for him I can't help but have tears of joy and gratitude for him! He made this possible... he gave me my dream dress and made it fit so comfortably that I had an AMAZING wedding day! And well the pictures speak for themselves!!!! I really can't thank you enough Bayo, you will forever be in my heart and my memories!

First I had to argue with the employee that faux fur meant fake fur and not fox fur. That should have been my first red flag, but after I asked him to look up the definition of the word faux, we reached an agreement that it was indeed fake fur. A different employee rang me up for two jackets, I told him that they were vests and he argued with me about it. I was running short on time so decided just to leave and talk with them about it when I picked it up. He also didn't apply the first time customer discount. When I picked up the vests, the employee agreed that they were initially billed incorrectly, changed the ticket to vests, and said the first time discount could no longer be applied. Fine, was satisfied he corrected the bill, until I opened the package to see that not only was the material on the new, unworn vest now matted and rough (looks incorrectly cleaned), but is also now missing its belt. I mentioned the missing belt and the employee explained that since they didn't initially notice the belt, they weren't responsible for tracking it as a separate item. I asked him to look for the belt and he could not find it. I emailed the business asking for a manager to call me and still have not heard back. Recommend that you just save the heartache and go elsewhere.
