I brought in two wetsuits for repair about 2 months ago. I was skeptical that one may have been too thrashed for repair. Oliver inspected it closely and said it was worth repairing. Nasty customer service. I'm very disappointed with my interaction with the worker here today. I came down here a few days ago to get a wetsuit repaired. They asked me to dry it out and bring it back. I came back after drying it for two days and tried to get it repaired and the lady at the front refused because it was still the tiny tiniest bit damp. I tried to reason with her and see if there was anyway they could take it. I had driven down there twice in the last few days(20min both ways) and I didn't want to make the trip again. But she simply refused. I'm incredibly disappointment with this interaction today. I have been a customer of this store since I was literally 8 years old so the complete unwieldiness to make any exception blew me away as completely unreasonable. read more

After busting my wetsuit zipper and being told by every other shop that my suit was totaled, I almost gave up and bought a brand new suit. Blown Out figured out my problem immediately and helped me put a new zipper on without having to rip out the entire zip and resew in a new one, an expensive process that would cost more than the suit is worth. After my son widely split the underarm of his body-surfing/boogie-boarding wetsuit I thought I could fix it with some Aquaseal. I was disspelled of that notion by a clerk at Sports Basement but, rather than try to sell me something, she generously referred me to Blown-Out. Problem solved. This little shop, which I've never so much as driven by (maybe it's really a big shop?), doesn't even have a web site. Regardless, the Yelp reviews lent confidence in their abilities, so the wetsuit (and some torn booties) were FedEx'd off. Two weeks and $55 later (including return shipping) the wetsuit and booties found their way back home and * WOW * we couldn't even figure out which armhole or bootie had been repaired. Only place to get reliable wetsuit repair! Thank goodness we have this original Santa Cruz surf shop. They have a ton of equipment- I broke my leash but was able to pick one up fast and for a great price. It's the closest surf shop to our surf breaks on Pleasure Point. I understand it's a high school kid doing the repairs but man he lags and his communication is horrible. Tried calling him three times and left him a voicemail twice wondering when my board would be finished but nothing from the kid. Called the store and they told me they had no idea about my board and that I needed to contact him. Two days after calling the store and waiting over a month for my board to be repaired, i decided to walk in where I dropped my board off in the first place. Went up to the lady working that day gave her my receipt and asked her about my board. She basically pointed down below the wetsuit rack and said here are the three boards Isaiah has dropped off. Found my board sandwiched between two other boards with a pile of wetsuits on top and all dusty. Honestly I wasn't too happy seeing how they treated repaired boards just lying on the floor stacked on top of each other like it was a soft top rental store. Other than that, the kid did a excellent job fixing my board. Half of me wants to help a young kid who does great work but the other half doesn't want to go through that experience again dealing with two different parties. read more

Yet another great review for this amazing place. I have been here 3 times and one for my wetsuit to be fixed. They did an amazing job fixing it up and at a very rare price First off they know their stuff about wetsuit and how to fix them, there is no discussion there. Incredibly nice and engaging, I received a lot of useful and important information about wetsuit and which materials last longer than others and which can be fixed more easily. These people are obviously incredibly passionate about what they do and care a lot about their work and their customers. Plus SOME their wetsuits are cheaper in the store there than online from the manufacturer. I would recommend them to everyone and will be going back to get fitted and buy a wetsuit there. read more

Feel like I was had. Have bought at least four boards there. Went it to swap my board, which to me means I buy a board from them and put my old one for sale, come back a few weeks later to get the money for the sold board. Was told upfront that the 20% fee they charge is waived when you buy a board. Came in today to pick up my money and the 20% was withheld because I picked up the new board when I left the old board. Luckily, my 6 year old wetsuit is just fine. But, when the wife got a wetsuit at the O'neil's super sidewalk sale, her little 4'9" frame was too little for even the "short" models. Talking to the guys at O'neil's, we found out about Blown Out Wetsuit repair where they said the woman who works on the wetsuits works magic. We brought in the suit, took some measurements, and for a fair price had both arms and legs cut and tapered. The suit was ready in less than a week and fit perfectly. I'm really pleased with the great job they did on my wife's wetsuit and when mine is in need of repair, this will be the one place I take it to. read more

I went today after reading the reviews to buy a wetsuit, I just started surfing and took a friend's advice he said "go and get a good wetsuit", so I thought it would be a nice first shop to go get a bit more "warm" service, I was greeted without no problem he listened to me and got out 3 suits, then got a fourth one asked me how much I was going to surf and told him I was going to be a weekend warrior, he removed that suit (it was a 5/4/3 and explained to me it would be too hot in the summer) he patiently answered every single question I had and as I asked him "which suit do you recommend" he pointed me to the ripcurl wetsuit and explained why (I was honestly thinking on getting the most expensive suit he had brought up) how to put it on, tricks such as the inside neck flap he uses a shoe string as it apparently tangles, he helped on the boots and answered questions on my board. Overall a great buying experience and I really recommend it! read more

I wish I would've found this awesome place sooner! I dropped off my kids old wetsuit with a torn shoulder seam and they got it back together like new but more durable. They also fitted me for a new suit and educated me on the latest materials, sizing and care/maintenance. Both times I've been there they were eagerly assisting customers, taking time to get to know customers and get a better feel for how to best help. I've come here for a few repairs and the work is done fast and with very high attention to details. I got worked on the reef and they helped me find holes I did not know I had - and fix them. Bring your rubber in clean and dry. Be patient - takes about a week to turn around. (A good reason to have a backup wetsuit, which you need anyways). They have a great rack of second hand suits. Wow!!! Just got back my triathlon wetsuit after tearing it about 6 inches across the seam, and I am amazed by the results. Looks as good as new from the outside, and cannot feel a thing on the inside where the repair in. Definitely exceeded all of my expectations for a wetsuit repair.
