I went here solely based on online reviews. I paid $75 to have a dress hemmed and ironed, when I picked it up it was only hemmed, no ironing. Also as with every service business I paid for the alteration when I dropped my dress off. I gave Elena $75 cash and she gave me a handwritten paper receipt but when I went to pick up the dress she told me I never paid. I said of course I did here is my receipt and she said that it was not a receipt because it didn't have PAID written on it. She would not let me leave and I absolutely needed that dress so I had to pay again $75 this time I put it on my credit card though. The dress only cost $80 at the store..... spent $150 on alterations I mean what a mistake. Would never go back even though the alteration was perfect and completed in only 7 days. read more

I cannot rave about this experience enough. I had a not so cute bridesmaids dress that I was already dreading having to wear only to find out when I tried it on a few weeks ago that it was too tight and would not zip. I was recommended to Elena and I could not be happier with the results. I went in a week ago very unsure with how this would be able to be taken care of being that the design of the dress did not have extra fabric however I left it in Elena's magical hands and she told me she would figure it out. A week later I picked it up and it fits perfectly. Elena was able to get creative and used the belt that the dress came with to get the fabric to add to the seams instead of having to alter the length. I honestly told her I just needed it to zip so I can wear it but she went above and beyond my expectations for this dress. The pricing was fair and the work was amazing. Elena really offers something special that you can't find easily these days with her custom alterations and I feel I could trust her with any work I might need in the future. Poor experience going here. Took a bridesmaid dress for a simple hem. She charged me $50 and when I asked about the price she claimed that she 'took in a little from the sides.' I was running late for work and she had already charged my card or I would have challened her on it but I just took the dress. She definitely did NOT take anything in from the sides (I know because the dress fit like a glove already) and the hem was TOO SHORT! I won't be going back. read more

Elena is wonderful. She's a no-nonsense business lady who is excellent at tailoring. I had a one-shoulder bridesmaid's dress that needed to be altered the same day. I called Elena in the morning, dropped it off at 10:00am, and it was complete by 1:00pm! And let me be clear: she did not sacrifice quality for speed. She and her team are very friendly, and if I lived in Plantation, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my alterations. My dress fit me like a glove and I walked in the wedding without having to constantly adjust my dress in any way (unlike some of the other ladies I walked with). NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!! I cannot stress this point enough. First I called to ask where it was located because it was hard to find and the woman who answered the phone (the owner) answered and did not offer any help and used a nasty and aggressive tone with me then hung up. Once I found the place, I walked in and the owner did not even greet me. She glanced over and gave a dirty look when I said hello. I told her when I needed the dress ready and she began to yell at me saying "WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS ARE YOU SERIOUS I HAVE OTHER WORK" so I turned around and walked out of this place. This place of "alterations" is the worst one ever. 0 customer service skills and the owner is a horrible person who treats their customers/ potential customers horribly. It's very disappointing that I had to endure this experience so I hope this review will help you to avoid this place because it truly is the worst. All the other good reviews are clearly a scam. at all costs and NEVER go here. This woman is a racist and treats any customer who is black/latino like a 2nd class citizen. read more

RUDE!!! RUDE. Went in and she treated me badly the minute I walked in. Barely wanted to help me and would not even allow me to finish my sentences. I asked for a rush and she became ruder by the minute. She wanted 15.00 to hem each pant and when I asked her she was nasty. Still wondering what made her treat me that way from the get go. Im sure nothing that I can change. I went elsewhere and the price was just about the same but was happy to pay to have the work done just because of their attitude and customer service. I went to Elena with an "emergency" last minute dilemma, we had traveled into town for a wedding and had not had time to alter my dress which was considerably long. Even though I had super high heels, it was still about 6 inches too long. I went to Elena first thing in the morning, and she agreed to help me out, even though she was super busy with other alterations. The dress has 4 layers so I understood that it wasn't an easy job. Elena saved the day for me, she had the dress ready in a couple of hours and did a flawless job. I was so surprised when she agreed to help me in such short notice, that I had forgotten to ask her about the pricing. (To be honest I would have paid $100 because this was the morning of the wedding, we had to be there @ 5 pm) She called me at about 11:45 to tell me the dress was ready, we went to pick it up, she told me how much it was, $65 which seemed reasonable to me since the dress has 4 layers and I literally went in that morning, I happily paid her, gave her a little extra tip to show her how grateful I was she had helped me out and went on my merry way. I am so upset I went here. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding, I dropped the dress off 3 weeks before the wedding. All it needed was a hem and to take the dress out a little on top.. Not only could she not give me a price right then, she told me a whole week to come back... Okay I return the following week and the dress is not done. I come back a few days later. Not only does the dress not fit.. The zipper is now broke.. So I come back a few days later.. Zipper broke again.. It is now 4 days before the wedding... I took the dress and left. She made me pay for the hem, which was crooked and had to be fixed AGAIN. I took it to a place that now cost me $90 to fix the crooked hem, replace the zipper and take the dress out properly. The alteration place I took it too after Elena was shocked that an actual "seem stress" did the work. He thought I DID IT. Nope, a "professional" did. Don't waste your money. Or your time. I took it too a new place that not only had it done literally over night and was perfect, but for a fraction of the cost. I'm upset I wasted time and money on this place, don't make the same mistake !! read more

Just had the most amazing experience at this business. I tore the seat of the pants on my tuxedo that I need by the weekend. I brought it into Alterations By Elena. She took the pants, walked over to the sewing machine, fixed my pants like new and gave them back to me and said "Goodbye". No charge, just a "see you next time". Money hungry: left a few hats and patches to be sown on. Asked to try ONE OUT! i also left a sweater and shirt. Shirt n sweater came out decent. She ironed the patches on the hat. Ruined two of my hats and patches (30.00 dollars) didnt sow them. She sowed all the hats! When asked to do one! She then recommended that I go to swap shop to have ironed again.
