Went here for a bridesmaids dress alterations. Terrible experience. They pinned the dress in one place and then totally ignored the pins and shortened the straps so that they could make the alterations easier for them. When I tried it on the boob cups were at my collar bones. They blamed my boobs saying they were too big for the dress even though the dress fit perfectly with the pins before they the sowed it. I had to have them undo some of the alterations. Other bridesmaids in the wedding went here and had problems with their dresses too. Also my friend in the wedding said that when she picked up her dress they held it up to my dress for reference (since both dresses had been shortened to Tea length) and when they saw that the dresses were totally different length and they didn't fix hers. read more

This is my to-go place for tailoring. They have taken in dresses (ha ha, "taken in"), shortened pants, and fixed random buttons and tears for me. They have Saturday hours. I forgive them for taking two weeks to shorten my new pants, since they fixed two dresses for me in 2 days so I could take both dresses to an out of town wedding. Pretzels, gummi oranges, cantaloupe, Timbits and vanilla creme cookies are in abundance at the front counter, so your wait is always most fruitful! read more

This shop did a beautiful job for us in a very short amount of time. My husband and I needed some alterations to our formal wear for the Inaugural Ball. We brought in my dress and his tux pants on the Tuesday before and needed them by Thursday afternoon. The pants just needed a hem, but my dress needed a hem and some additional alterations. I'm currently ten weeks pregnant--no cute bump yet--I just look dumpy. My form-fitting floor-length dress wasn't helping. I don't know how they did it--but that dress looked amazing. It was beautifully altered, and whatever they did to hitch up the middle made my figure look like mine again. The pants looked great, too. Walked into this place because it was recommended by another seamstress, who does not alter wedding dresses. The lady at the front told us to go in the room to try on the dress. As my mom was tying my dress the lady rudely yelled into our dressing room to ask if I was putting on a wedding dress, to which we replied yes. She was annoyed because the lady who works on wedding dresses was not around and we did not have an appointment. After a few minutes she said that I could try on my dress and she would figure out what to do. After she had me in front of the mirror I told her what I needed and she said she could do it but then shuffled her feet back since their lady who is in charge of the wedding dresses might not be back from her vacation by the time I was to come in for my second fitting. All in all, we left this place after realizing that they did not really want our business. Go to Prestige instead. They are cordial and will do anything to make your dress perfect! read more

I am not going to waste my time writing a long reviews, since they wasted too much of my time at the store. So here is a summary as to why you should not go here and should go to Prestige instead. -I came in with a wedding dress, was putting it on in the store and was yelled at by Lena because I did not have an appointment. When I explained that I just wanted a sweetheart neckline she said "okay." -the ladies seemed so flustered by my dress saying it would be so hard to complete the task I had asked for. When they finally put the pins in, I was told to come back when their wedding stylist was in, which would be the next day. -however, on the way out I was told that the wedding tailor would be on vacation in the last three weeks of June, so Lena "did not know if when I came back she would be in, but they would TRY to make it work." Umm, this is my wedding dress for my wedding day, so I think I will go with another tailor that is more invested. Rude, frustrating and horrible customer service... read more

We find Lena's to be a good option for "typical" alterations such as hems, waists, zippers, etc. Price is very good and they always deliver on-time and typically don't have long lead times. In the past, we felt like they avoided some of the more intricate alterations. We continue to go here often for the most basic tailoring needs. read more

Alterations by Lena did a great job on two bridesmaid dresses for me last year. One was very complicated- three layers of hemming, a poorly made original zipper, and an entire strapless top half that needed to be taken in. They basically re-made the entire dress (it was an overpriced bridesmaid dress with typical bad quality), and I was the only bridesmaid whose strapless top stayed up all night with no wardrobe malfunctions for the wedding video!!! It wasn't cheap to get three layers of dress hemmed and the top of the dress re-made, but I didn't expect it would be. They also hemmed another dress for me at a reasonable price. I'd go back there in a heartbeat for any formalwear. read more

I took a suit jacket in to be tailored at Alterations by Lena. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. The place is pretty dumpy looking with thrift store furniture, tattered carpets, etc. There is limited parking; you can park across the street in a run-down parking lot filled with pot holes and gravel, however. As to the actual alterations - the sewing was fine, but I asked for the jacket to be taken in at the waist, which wasn't really done. The jacket still looks about a size too big on me. The sleeves were hemmed, as I asked, but I'll have to take the jacket elsewhere to get the waist fixed correctly. read more

I have been taking things to Lena for alterations about two to three times a year for more than 20 years. Why I go, I don't know. Some hems last one wash, she tells me one price when I drop things off then raises it when I pick things up. My alterations are never done on time, her prices are high, and she's really just not a nice person. In fact she's nothing but an old sour puss. It is time to find somewhere else to go. read more

Paid a small fortune to have drapes hemmed three inches after Lena was recommended to me. She was very curt when we dropped them off. She told us two weeks. We weren't able to return for 4 weeks and when we came back, she told us that they weren't done, they had been too busy with prom to worry about drapes. Offered no apologies or discounts just said they would get to them this week. I asked for the curtains back and a refund and will be going somewhere who can honor their time commitment. I am also calling the store that recommended her and sharing the experience with them. read more

For my sons wedding, my gown, my daughters bridesmaids gown, my granddaughters flowergirl dress, and grandsons suit all needed alterations. Needed them all altered in less than a month. I brought my wedding dress here to have some alterations done and they completely destroyed the dress. The bottom hem was not even, the sides were not only taken in incorrectly but were uneven and crooked. The cups were put in incorrectly and they did a cobjob with the shortening the straps. They also made it clear they don't know how to work with certain fabrics as my satin dress had no less then 20 snags and pulls in it after picking it up, that were not there before. (Which cannot be fixed) When I picked it up they thought the dress looked great and said it was perfect. I had exactly a week to find a different tailor to try n fix what they could before I walked down the aisle. Please do NOT bring your garments here. They are overpriced, and are not professional tailors who destroy your clothes rather then fixing them. read more

I would never go back there again. I took in 2 pair of capris for broken zippers. 1 pair has the same zipper & its not even attached all the way. the 2nd pr the zipper was sewn shut upper farther than it was orginally, so the zipper doesnt open up all the way. could have done a better job myself. I was told I could pick up the pants on a wk later, went & was told no, it was the wked. Just not a people person at all. read more

Terrible Terrible customer service. I went in with 3 sundress's to be shortened. I very specifically asked what the price would be for all 3 and Lena told me $20.00. I received a ticket with the date to pick up my dresses but it did not have a price on it. I went in to pick them up on the scheduled date, handed the girl the ticket and she told me $60.00. Now...I am not familiar with alterations and thought 20 was fair for a few dresses to shorten. Another extremely rude woman came out and said "What do you expect me to do" I told her I should be charged 20 as that is what Lena told me. To make a long story short we argued and I threw my money at her ONLY because I loved the dresses. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GOING TO THESE RUDE NASTY CROCHETY IGNORANT PEOPLE. They do not care if they have your business as she told me that when I walked out the door. PLEASE ladies there are a ton of other alteration businesses to chose from. Read the other reviews nothing but rude nasty people. Don't put yourself thru that aggravation. read more

I don't want to be mean-spirited, but in my opinion, this is not a very professional tailoring service. I don't know why so many people recommend them. I have had mainly bad experiences. Most recently, they all but ruined two blazers by shortening the sleeves in ways that another local tailor described as a "botch job." In one case, four-button functional sleeves were shortened merely by folding the fabric under and (sort of) stitching it up, leaving only two buttons of the original four hanging off the edge of the sleeve (!). On the other blazer, the non-functional buttons were moved up, but there are now visible "scars" where they removed the buttons. Another local tailor said that if he had done this, he would refund the client the full cost of the garments to replace them. I asked Lena's, more humbly, just for a refund of the alteration-costs. Even this request was flatly refused without any apology for the damage done to the garments. read more
