After bringing my husband's old gi (a top for martial arts) that needed to be patched up to three different cleaners, that also do alterations, here in Castro Valley, one of which we used for years, they all refused to touch it. It wasn't difficult, nor did we want anything fancy, it was just old. I stumbled upon Nadia on yelp. All Nadia said was give me time. I said no rush. I also had two pairs of pants that needed to be hemmed. She said they would take a week. Believe it or not, the gi was ready at the same time and she only charged us $40. I found Nadia via Yelp. I wanted to find someone close to my house with good recommendations for my wedding dress. In short, YES I would go to her again for any other alteration needs. She gives a very fair price. First Visit: She gave me a fair price and was transparent. Asked me if I wanted a French bustle or American bustle. (I went for the American bustle, and it was gorgeous; she used tiny little pearls as buttons to keep my train up.) She has a home office, and it is nicely decorated. I felt at ease knowing my dress was in good hands/locked up. Second Visit: She fitted me again to ensure that things were looking good; I wanted to add lace off the shoulder straps, and she said she would look for them for me and have them by the third and last visit. I was uncomfortable with how long my dress length was, so she said, "NO PROBLEM AT ALL" and said it would be shortened even more by the last visit. No attitude or anything; just super kind and helpful. Third Visit: Straps were amazing and beautiful; the bustle was awesome; the length and fit of the dress was ON POINT. When I needed honest advice about the chest area, she gave it to me. She was SO right. She made my day JUST AS BEAUTIFUL as any other of my vendors. Nadia is amazing! She made alterations to a bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was a part of, as well as my own wedding gown. In both cases, she did a wonderful job. She took the time to listen to what I had in mind, provided her own suggestions, and made it all happen! For the bridesmaid dress (a bit too small for me), she altered the back and changed the zipper to a corset closure. She found matching pink ribbon so that it blended in well with the rest of the dress. For my own gown, she took it in, added straps (again, found matching fabric!), added loops for a bustle, and attached a jeweled waist embellishment. So professional, so kind! I bought a dress from a thrift store that needed repair of the empire waistline front and back. I'm an okay sewer, but the fabric was too slippery and stretchy for me to fix myself. I took my dress to Nadia and she made it look brand new. Her business is in the front of her home which caught me off guard at first, but it's a legit store front and Nadia runs a completely professional business. Nadia totally saved my wedding! One of the most important parts of an Indian ceremony is a scarf that ties the bride and groom. In all the wedding madness, my husband forgot to pick up the scarf which I had already left with her very last minute and begged for her to fix for me within 3 days (it was ordered from India and came totally wrong). Luckily my husband happened to email Nadia to see if he could pick up the scarf from her early in the morning before the shop opened because our ceremony was also starting before the shop opened! I have taken a few dresses to Nadia for alterations because I was getting ready to donate them because I lost a little weight, then remembered this new shop that opened, and I really like my dresses. I made an appointment with Nadia. She was able to take the dress in where needed, and even level them at the bottom. My butt tends to make dresses "rise" in the rear. She did a wonderful job tailoring these dresses to fit my figure. They fit better than when I first bought them.
