I've had Tuyen tailor some pants for me before, and she did them very nicely for a good price (hemming for $15), but I had a terrible experience recently. I had sent in my daughter's prom dress on a Tuesday to be hemmed, and she said I could come pick up the following Wednesday (two days before Prom). I went in on that Wednesday around 3, but she was absolutely astonished by the fact that I came in for the dress - even saying that I must have gotten my dates mixed up. She agreed to tailor it as soon as possible though, so I came back on Thursday to grab it. I was taken aback for the high price of $60, and so she took five dollars off since "I had to come back twice". I said fine, but when we tried on the dress back home, it was longer than what we agreed on. We called Tuyen, and she immediately pointed the blame towards me, since I "wanted it to touch the floor". How could she have remembered exactly what I said but forget that I was coming in for pick up on Wednesday? I have spent enough time and effort at this tailor, and unfortunately have lost my trust. The five dollars off doesn't compensate on the energy and trouble I had to go through for a dress that was not hemmed to our original agreement. read more

Always had great experiences here. We were second home owners in Carmel and sometimes when we were down we made some purchases and wanted them hemmed or altered within 24 hours; We were told she was the go-to and she was always super accommodating. We are full-time residents in the county now and she's still doing great work. Always says hello, pins and alters to precision and never any issues; always done on time and at a very fair price. I typically invest in designer clothes and I trust her with anything. She has raised the shoulders on a macrame tank top; hemmed and taken in the waist of new denim. And I recently had a silk blouse whose inset was buckling down the front where the buttons were; and she put beautiful stitching around the neck and down the front on either side to make sure the inside laid flat. All high-end labels done to perfection and very reasonable. Can't recommend her enough. read more

I took a couple projects to this business based on an aquaintence's recommendation. I had Tuyen replace a zipper and hem a lined coat. The zipper replacement was technically fine; however, she pushed me to choose a zipper from what she had in stock, and she should have purchased a zipper that exactly matched the one she was replacing. The outcome looks okay, not great. The price charged was $20. I would have hemmed the coat myself, but I was short on time. I wish that I had done it myself, because the hemming job is rather amateurish. I was charged $75, and I should have received a finished product that looked like it was done by a professional--especially at that price. I called Tuyen after she was recommended by a friend and she told me to stop by whenever to get my jeans altered. I walked in the next day and she was the SWEETEST. Making small talk while asking how I wanted my jeans hemmed. Giving my dog treats and had such good service through everything. She was incredibly attentive to everything that was going on since it seemed to be a busy afternoon. Other guests walk in and had the same interactions with her. A huge vibrant hello and she knew exactly what each person was picking up. Gentleman had his 3 piece suit he was picking up that he was raving about how well she brought in the waist. Tuyen did great work on my jeans! I work with cats and dogs all day so as you can imagine, i do a lot of wear and tear on my jeans. Instead of buying new pants, i decided to take 6 pairs of jeans to Tuyen to patch the holes and give them a few more miles on them before i bought new ones. They look fantastic! The jeans that had small holes, you can barely tell there was a hole to begin with. The jeans with big holes is noticeable, but it feels very strong and secure, probably more than when I bought them originally! I was slightly taken back by the price to get them altered though. There were some pretty difficult holes to patch, but I didn't know it could have cost me $120. Part of it was my fault for not knowing how much it costs to patch holes to begin with. I was naive in thinking it would be $6-10/ pair of jeans, but I should have asked how much it was to begin with. A learning experience I suppose! Haha. Once she saw my reaction though, Tuyen was very understanding and she was flexible enough to adjust the price which I am very grateful for. She didn't have to do that. Quality work does come at a cost. If you want it done flawlessly and you are willing to pay for it, go to Tuyen's Alteration shop. Thanks to them, I have 6 more jeans in my closet to work with! My wife unfortunately had a very similar experience to Apple J who reviewed Tuyen earlier and her review is below I went to Tuyen for my evening dress hemming as she had been recommended to me by two people. When Tuyen first pinned the hem it was ankle length and I asked that it just touch the top of my shoes. I was told to come back in a week, but when I returned she had completely forgotten to do the work and asked me to return the following week, which I did. I picked the dress up, paid $55 and left. When I tried it on at home the dress was trailing on the floor. I returned to the shop and she was SO rude, saying that was what I had asked for, I had wanted it that long, which I most certainly didn't. I was told to return in 4 days but then got a call to say it wouldn't be ready until the following week. I arrived at 10:50am as wasn't sure what time she opened. Tuyen was just arriving and told me I had turned up too early but the dress was ready. My beautiful beaded dress was in a pile on her table, not hung up. I said I would like to try it before I left and she actually threw the dress to me! I went into the fitting room but could not face being in the shop a minute longer. I hung my dress over my arm and walked out with Tuyen shouting after me not to come back! I would never go back to that shop and if I could give a negative star review for customer service I would. read more

We brought a pair of men's suits to Tuyen to have them altered for a wedding. She was a wizard, working quickly to size up the differences between our dimensions and the cut of the suits (and folks, altering men's suits is about as tough as you get). She did a great job for a great price, and she did it on time in just a few days. If you're worried about calling after 5pm, give her a holler anyways - this woman works 18 hours a day building her business (which totally impressed me). She's the real deal. read more

Tuyen, aside from being a very nice person, is a wizard with fabric and needle; She can alter anything from women's clothes to men's tailoring. She has done many things for me. She has a keen eye and knows your body. She understands where to take an article of clothing in or out and how to make it fit to perfection. I took it to Tuyen and she was able to rush the job so I could pick up the dress on the way to the event four hours later. Besides professional alterations, tailoring/seamstress work, she'll do the mundane tasks well that we used to do for ourselves in the old days - repairing tears, patching clothes, sewing on uniform patches, etc. I have her repair my heavy karate uniforms made form 14 oz cotton canvas, which takes a strong commercial sewing machine. Always on time when promised. Will take rush jobs, if she can fit them in. Reasonable prices given this is a very high rent and cost of living area. Nice woman. A friend told me about Tuyen's shop. I got curious and asked if she made shirts from scratch. She said she did. So I gave her some fabrics and asked if she could make shirts from them with my specs. Overall, her shop did a very good job of them. Workmanship is fine. Seriously the best tailor, period! I called, no one answered. A few minutes later, I get a call from the tailor stating she missed my call and was sorry. I asked if she could do a rush denim alteration within an hour. To my surprise, she said yes! I brought my denim in, she did the alteration while I shopped around Carmel.
