I notice most all the reviews are for the "old Owners"-- that's a shame since the quality of the previous owners work was only fair quality. And as we all know it takes a while to change behavior and perception. The "New" Carmel Cleaners now owned by a lovely guy- he also owns The Grove Laundry in PG. he was a Commander in the South Korea Navy and that discipline is reflected in his business. Anyway you cut it having a cleaning business serving the public is a tough business. Clothing is personal -we get attached to items and unfortunately sometimes clothing gets ruined. No matter where you go. I look for cleanliness, on time delivery, careful handling of my items, staff attentiveness and support. The New version is spot ( no pun intended) on with the preceding requirements. Soony ( his name shortened) is very friendly and totally committed to customer satisfaction. I bring him high end clothes and don't worry. I can't say that about some other establishments. I am in his store once a week with drop offs and pick ups. He is great with all bedding. Sheets and Duvets are impossible to do at home but he has the equipment to wash and press so they look and feel brand new. In all the times we've used him we had one mishap. I brought back my wife's expensive blouse and showed him the problem that he acknowledged and Took complete financial responsibility for the item. No questions. A very classy business man. If you still haven't tried Carmel Cleaners because you remember the Old Days please give this new version a try. I've been going to this dry cleaners for 15 years. I've never had an issue. The new owners are NOT the same . I've been bringing my lab coats ever since . For 3 separate incidences they charged me $15, $18, the &16 for all the same item. I understand for the 16 , they charged extra because of a stain. I had pen marks that has always been there , and there were NO changes to pen marks -fine I didn't further discuss that charge. For the charge of $ 3 more , according to the them it was a "longer" coat. I've had the same size, brand of lab coat. I'm 5 ft tall so I wear a short length. They refused to reimburse the additional 3 charge. The owner lady was absolutely rude, going on a diatribe on how hard they have to clean in the heat etc etc . How did the discussion go off rails???? My point was the principal, whether I was charged $1 or $3 more she refused to listen or take into consideration I have been a long time customers bringing the exact same lab coats ever since. She refused to give a credit, when I brought to the attention the 1st time the man said next time he'll give me a credit. I brought my receipts , she refuse to do anything about it . I will not be using their business. They are little more pricier but I use them for convenience since I live close by . Rude rude rude owner. read more

Under new ownership, everything is computerized and now they accept apple pay as well. I always have them clean our bedding items and it has been superb. Great service and always helpful. They do alterations if you ever need anything tailored. read more

Warning! Don't give these cleaners your white clothes to dry clean! They'll come back a yellow grey color and smells awful. Guess they use old and dirty cleaning fluids or dry cleaned by dresses with dirty stinky dark clothes!!! It's awful what they've done to two beautiful white dresses. Hoping a new cleaner can bring it back to white or I'm stuck with yellow grey dresses. Oh and when we mentioned how unhappy we were when we took back a white blouse (to avoid the same thing happening) they did not apologize or offer to refund the cost we paid so they could ruin two dresses! New owners as of July 1st! Too bad. I liked this business before. No more! read more

I picked up two table cloths that I had them launder and press. It cost me $56. They weren't even that big (6' x 4'). I like to shop locally and was planning on dropping my outdoor furniture cushions there, but I understand they just changed hands so I don't think I will go back there. read more

I have been a customer of Carmel Cleaners for almost three years. The last time we picked up our cleaning they had stappled the tag to my wife's silk blouse leaving holes in the fabric! We asked the owner, Tammy, what could be done and she said "thats the best we can do!" The blouse was $200 and now is ruined. No compensation or appology was offered. If this is the resolution I would not recommend this business to anyone! read more

I came in Today to get two twin size duvet coverlets (not duvets) & 5 regular pillow cases cleaned for my client. There was one person working and even though I came in first I was left there to wait as another customer came in and was helped with his complete transaction. Then after finally helping me the woman at the counter tells me it will be $105.00 ... For that price I could have bought some new ones. Crazy! So, I took them to my usual place (DiMaggios) and it was $37 :-) I only went there because my client lives around the corner but Just because it is not my money I won't just blow it away... This place is a rip off I would go to DiMaggio's in Pacific Grove they have great quality cleaning tailoring etc... I will not be going back here bad customer service and too high prices not even worth it. read more

Let me tell you about this establishment. As the collector of many beautiful articles of clothing over the years, costing many thousands of dollars, I have sent my garnets to the finest dry cleaners across the country and have indeed spent a great deal of monies over the years for the invoices of such. As this little village dry cleaner has been in business for a long period of time, I thought it appropriate to send "household goods," such as sheets and towels ect... for cleaning as we just happened to locate to the area. As I gather the manager named Tammy is good at summing-up people and their checkbooks... As the area is filled with California new money, never could I imagine how taken advantage of, I was going to be. I have been paying consistently via credit card, in the vicinity of Four Hundred Dollars a month for three months in secession for as I mentioned.. For Household Goods. The manager named Tammy, stated upon my first arrival... " just to leave a credit card on file and she would keep tally of the bill, as a lot of her customers do just that " I stupidly did so. Well a lesson to be learned... This Saturday morning; as I have been out of town for a number of weeks, I walked into the Carmel Cleaners to be greeted by two employees ( the manager was no where to be seen ) that stated to me that "I Must Pay My Bill First...? " I reacted casually and agreed that "yes, of course the bill would be payed" ( I thought it strange ) and proceeded to give them my credit card. The employees proceeded to bring out the cleaning and I carried the possessions to my car. Then one of the employees stated that my bill was over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS...!!!!! What, I said, What ever do you mean...??? The Chinese owner then proceeded to come out of no where and wave these little white ticket stubs in my face, stating that I had a PAST DUE BALANCE... and that I was a CHEAT & A THEIF...???? I told him, he had no merit, as I had no idea of what he was speaking about. I offered to pay this establishment for what was already in my car and that I would see him in court. I proceeded to pay him $380.00 and left. When arriving home, I immediately looked at my credit card account and indeed I was charged in May from the dry cleaner $460.00. So In End, BEWARE... The area is filled with great wealth, and is it not so convenient to take ones credit card and bill them as you so please...? I have seen many maids and housekeepers dropping off TRUNK LOADS of dirty laundry. Can you imagine... What an easy scam... Stealing from the rich and famous... The best game in town! read more

I brought in 3 formals to be cleaned. Because of the bead work involved, I didn't want the dresses ruined. The area needed to be cleaned was mainly in the hemline area. The person at the counter took the dresses back to have the "Owner" inspect the dresses because they weren't sure if they were willing to do what I thought was a common job for a dry cleaner in Carmel, Although I asked to speak directly to the owner, he/she didn't come out and relayed information to the person who waited on me! They claimed they could spot clean the dresses, as they do it all the time and it would come out perfect. I left them the dresses and they gave me a call tag to return to pick them up in a couple of days. The price wasn't as high as I would have expected. I returned a couple of days later and was told they couldn't get to them and they got very busy..without an apology! I asked them when I could return and I wasn't going to waste another drive into town they informed they would be ready the following day. To give them the benefit of the doubt, I went in later in the afternoon to pick up the dresses. They were "ready". I checked each one before I left and they weren't cleaned at all, but the price tag for their services was on the dresses! I complained and showed them the dresses were not cleaned and they didn't charge me, again without an apology! I would have paid gladly if they would have cleaned the dresses as promised. If they would have told me we can't do the job I would have been much happier and taken them to another recommended dry cleaner! read more

Needed something just ironed in a hurry. The kind lady did it for me even though they were about to close. She didn't charge me for it. I can't even begin to tell you what a kind and genuine act that was in my day at that moment. It was more than just ironing it was Compassion 101. My first visit here was excellent. One item for drycleaning, one pair of pants for alteration. Both completed when promised and good quality work. Courteous and friendly service. A friend recommended a cheaper dry cleaning business in Sand City. I looked at their reviews and they were horrible.
