I purchased 2 dresses and spent $1,000 plus another $400+ for the alteration of one of the dresses (hemming and a small stitch on the front which probably took no more than 30 minutes max). The alteration was EXTREMELY disappointing and left me livid! Even though we did a final fitting before they actually sewed the dress, the finished dress was very disappointing. One side of the dress was shorter than the other. The inside lining was held by a 2 inch thread and the lining on the shorter side shows as you walk. The dress just doesn't look right on my daughter and it makes me very upset to look at it. Since the dress can't be returned even before the alteration, I basically wasted $1,000!!! i thought they would do a good job with alterations but I was sorely mistaken. This was a very expensive lesson learned. I will NEVER recommend this place. I took the other dress elsewhere and they did a fantastic job for less than half the cost at Gesinee's. read more

So it was "fitting" to have my dress altered at Gesinee's very own alteration center. Having a wedding gown altered here is definitely an investment. Keep in mind that an alteration is not $100-$200 for a wedding gown. It is a bit on the steep side but the care and attention to detail is well worth it. When you need someone to do impeccable work and has an eye of what needs to be altered and improved, Ms. Irene is the one to look for. She's like a long lost aunt who will make sure that you are happy with your gown and will individualize her one-on-one attention to your requests and questions. I am so glad she was there from the pinning to end. She makes the process a little less stressful and genuinely cares about making you feel and look great in your dress. From the time I purchased my dress to my frequent fittings, Ms. Sarah was always there to assist me. She is approachable, very friendly, & was able to work with me when I had a last minute change of mind on my dress. I am so glad she helped and now am glad I made the right decision. I will admit I was a little skeptical of getting my wedding dress altered here after mixed reviews, but I was extremely happy with the service and final product! I purchased my dress from Gesinees and ordered the size they recommended. This part was tricky as I'm a 4 in the bust, 6 in the waist and 8 in the hips- they recommended the 6. When my dress came in, I had a moment on panic as it was way too tight on my hips, to the point I could barely walk and definitely could not sit. I immediately felt they gave me the wrong advice on ordering the smaller size, but they assured me it could be let out, and on the slip side ordering a lager size would have been a difficult fox for the bust. After 3 appointments, I was ecstatic to see they had not only altered the dress so that I could freely move/sit/dance, but kept the gorgeous shape of the dress. Ordered my dress from Gesinee's main store (great expereience with Teresa who was *very* patient with me over multiple visits to try on admittedly way too many dresses) and came here to alter the dress I ultimately ordered. In short, Irene is a magical combination of being both an exceptionally competent seamstress as well as always having a super patient, sweet, and attentive attitude toward all her customers. Even when the alterations center was super busy she made me feel like the only bride in the place when her attention turned to me. I never felt rushed or too nit-picky--any tiny detail I pointed out she was happy to help pin and fix until it was right, no matter how many appointments it took. In particular, she patiently helped me troubleshoot figuring out what length to hem my dress so I could wear heels and then change into flats without tripping all over my dress--in the end we got creative about hemming the inside layers differently to accomplish this. I had a strapless dress, so it was important to have it taken in just right so I wasn't pulling up the dress all night, but still able to breathe, sit, dance, etc. Everything worked out great and when I had some beading and threads come out the week before my wedding Irene and Sara were both super accommodating to have me come in without an appointment to get it fixed immediately. Irene even sewed me a little pocket on the inside of my dress so I could keep my lip balm with me at all times :) Excellent customer service all around, even when things aren't perfect the ladies at Gesinee's work their tails off to make sure problems are solved and that you have a beautiful dress that fits just right on your big day. I purchased my wedding dress at Gesinee's and it was such a great experience that I decided to do my alterations there as well. Worst mistake ever. Alterations were already $1500+ and only for them to take in too much fabric the first time, mess up my bustle and zipper the second time, and even on the third time they missed the zipper clamp. It was such a botched job. Then, when I went to go pick up my dress, there were black stains everywhere. They said they would fix it within a couple of hours and when I came back it was still just as bad. They kept it for an additional few days to "fix it" but the day of pick up I still found 20+ dark spots everywhere. I had to point at each spot for them to clean one by one. Even then, my poor dress still had a few stains left and all the ironing they did was gone. I left with a stained and wrinkled dress. All my money wasted and them not caring a single bit. I highly recommend going elsewhere for alterations if you want to leave with a smile and stress free for your big day read more

I purchased a special event dress here for my 40th masquerade party. The dress bottom fit perfectly, however, the top was too small for my bust. It also had a huge open back and I didn't want that much back showing. They cut the lace off my train, added an extender, and made a pattern to cover my full back with the lace from the train. The staff at Geinsee Alterations are a group of fabulous ladies. I am an out of town bride and only had the means to fly to Concord for two fittings, the original and the final fitting. I was so nervous that my dress wouldn't fit right and I was not sure how I would be able afford more trips to Northern California. I need not have worried!!! Tess had me perfectly pinned under the watchful eyes of my mom, dad, and grandma... My mom being an accomplished seamstress herself. Just take a look at my dress and you will see how many layers needs to be hemmed. I am only 5'3" and was swimming in the dress when I first bought it. My boddice also had to be adjusted and I was praying it wouldn't be too big. When I came back to the alterations department a month later my dress and veil were waiting for me. I have never had any dress fit me so well. On the very first try the dress was more perfect than I could imagine. I recommend Tess very highly and all of the ladies at Geinsee are unfailingly friendly and polite. They know how to make you look and feel like a beautiful bride. I usually to a tailor in Fairfield and they hem my jeans for $10 but I didn't want to have to drive that far so I thought I'd try a new tailor in Concord. I went to Parkway Cleaners first and it was $12 there but it was inconvenient since you have to come to get fitted only when they have a seamstress there and apparently she's only there a few times a week and only for a couple of hours. I didn't want to have to wait a few more days so I found Gesinee's. The Filipina ladies working here are super nice and sweet. It's definitely the priciest place I've seen for getting your jeans hemmed it's a whopping $18. I came on a Tuesday and they first said it would be done by Friday I was going to go somewhere else but the lady said that she would be able to squeeze me in and have my jeans done by the next day. I was really bummed about the alterations here since I got such great service at the bridal shop. Alterations are expensive. Places on my dress they were supposed to let out they didn't and let out places they shouldn't have. They would start pinning other things on my dress and forget to mention the additional cost. I'm sure Gesinee's will be ok for many of you out there. However, if you shop at Gesinee's, you should make sure that you are ok with dealing with a business that WILL NOT and DOES NOT stand behind their product or service when they make an error. And yes, they admitted there is an error, but will not fix it. There is a pattern with Gesinee's and this is why Gesinee's has a 3 star rating on YELP and not a 5 star rating. I would recommend listening to reviewers...and shop at bridal stores that have a 4 or 5 star rating!!!! When a business makes an error...they should make it right and then the business will have lifelong and loyal clients. If you want to continue reading...my story is this. The sample dress I tried on during my initial appointment, fit perfectly except for the length (I am 5'11") and it was a bit snug in the hips. Gesinee's suggested ordering a new dress, one size bigger, assuring me the final product would look like the floor sample. See photos After being measured by Gesinee's staff, a new dress was ordered - months later I arrive for my first fitting - the length is good... BUT everything else was WRONG, and I mean really WRONG. I was told it was a "manufacturer measurement error" (this was written and noted on the paperwork) and I should trust them to fix it with alterations. This is what I got after 7 alteration appointments: See photos A little over a month before my wedding and this is what I have. Part of my breast hanging out on one side, puckering in the front, shoulders off (one tight, one loose) and the buttons on shoulders sit too far back off shoulders, back section cuts into my back, darts showing, cups having to be put in (didn't need cups with the sample)...still not good, bunching in the back and the beautiful back panel is ruined...and after paying for alterations (that they should have covered); it does not fit!!!! I was more than patient and kind throughout my seven alteration appointments. After which, I personally met with the manager, Sara, will no resolution on their part. I asked that the owner please call me to discuss...NOPE. The manager called me back and stated that the owner suggested putting the dress on consignment to sell. Really? How does that help my current situation? In my opinion, the store manager, Sara, is very dismissive, not a problem solver and not helpful. You would think Gesinee's would try to make this right and correct their own error. I was provided a product that I cannot and will not wear, at an incredible expense. I did not gain/lose weight or grow 2-3 inches, as they mentioned to me several times. * Gesinee's error!!! * Gesinee's mistake!!! * Gesinee's will not make it right!!! Why would a business not stand behind their name, product and service? In my opinion and personal experience, it is because they are not credible, honest and trustworthy. This situation is a complete shame, because I genuinely would have been such a loyal customer had Gesinee's fixed their error and done the right thing. I truly believe that the owner, the manager, nor any of the staff at Gesinee's would ever accept this dress for themselves, a loved one or friend as "ok to wear." If this is what they think is acceptable...then this shows you whom you are dealing with. Horrible experience here and totally over priced. So save yourself the stress and trouble. I only went here to get my wedding dress altered because I had bought my dress from Gesinee's and thought it would be easy to just go across the street. But the ladies there were inconsistent, unprofessional, and dishonest. Make sure you are very clear about how much they are going to charge you for everything and what you are actually paying for at each transaction. While they quoted me a total for the alterations they conveniently left out the pricing for the hem/bustle making it seem a lot lower. Not until my 2nd fitting did I find they hadn't done the hemming/bustling because they still needed to charge me for it. So I ended up paying more than what I was quoted with no choice. At my 2nd fitting I was also very flustered with the state of my dress. It looked messy and on top of that I found a tiny hole in one of the layers which I'm very sure was not there before (make sure to check your dress before you hand it over to them). The lady handling my alterations brushed it off like no big deal. And only tried to correct the problem after I asked her what she was going to do about it. Irene did seem more knowledgable but she was just as unconcerned at my frantic state as her employee. Of course they would not own up to anything. But looking at the messy quality of their alterations, past reviews, and even how my garment bag was completely torn up by the end, their prices really don't match the quality and service they provide. In the end they got the bare minimum of what was expected done. I got married almost 5 months ago and I'm still fuming just writing this review. I wish I had taken the time to find decent tailor. If I could give negative stars... I would. SOOO disappointed in this place. After spending $1400.00 on a Maggie Sottero Dress from there sister store Geneses, I was referred here for alterations. After reading some negative reviews, I still went here out of convenience. I needed to take my wedding dress out a tad (horrifying yes) as I fell pregnant several months before my wedding. Luckily, it was a corset back, so it was very simple. What I ended up getting done was taking out an inch on each side, and adding a bustle. Simple right? WRONG! This cost me over $400.00. I was SHOCKED! After coming in twice, she asked I pick up the dress the week before the wedding. I came in picked up the dress and was off. Fast forward to my wedding day: Took the dress out of the bag and there was pins everywhere. I thought to myself "oh they must have forgot to take the pins out" no big deal. When my mom went to pin my dress we realized that there was no bustle sewed in. I was so angry. I paid nearly $200 for the bustle alone and it was given back to me un - done. This review is for the wedding dress cleaning and preservation service only. I had my dress altered here and experienced no problems whatsoever. I dropped my dress and veil off to be cleaned and preserved on December 27th. They outsource this task, so I was told it would take a couple months before my dress would be back in store. I was told I would receive a call when my dress arrived. Come mid March, I hadn't heard anything, so I thought I would call and check in on the cleaning progress. I was told it was near complete and would be arriving at the store in a couple weeks. A-Ok with me, I appreciated the update. A month passes and I call again. My dress is still not ready. So the pessimist in me is worrying that they lost my dress somewhere and are trying to cover their asses while they locate it. I am again assured that they will call the moment the dress comes in. It's May 4th and I had not heard anything from Gesinee's. I called this morning and was informed that my dress is at their shop and no, they do not know how long it has been there. So where was this phone call that I was reassured over and over again I would receive? The lady I spoke to on the phone did not even offer an apology for their failure to inform me on the whereabouts of my dress and veil. These are sentimental items from my WEDDING people! It's no small matter to me. I also do not appreciate being told that the process would take a couple months, when in reality it took over 5 months. Or maybe the cleaning did take only a few months, but my dress had been sitting in Gesinee's warehouse unclaimed until today. I came here with my sister to get her wedding dress altered. The staff was friendly and welcoming right from the start. The person who helped my sister was Gesinee herself. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. I like that she doesn't wait for her employees to help the customers and will get down and dirty herself. My sister came in with specifics on how to butcher her dress (long dress, beach wedding, even longer story) but ended up making a few changes with the help of Gesinee's suggestions. For the 2nd fitting, my sister asked if she can schedule it when she's at the store. Gesinee worked around my sis' schedule and made herself available...talk about customer service! We went back for the 2nd fitting with our mom and once again, the staff was uber friendly. I called to let them know we were running late for the appointment (damn traffic) and they were ok with it. The dress fit beautifully and was altered exactly how sissy wanted it. My mom noticed a seam was a bit off and told her how it needed to be fixed. The funny thing about that is Gesinee later offered my (retired) mom a part-time job! Gesinee suggested changing the back part a bit which made the dress look alot more flattering...good looking out! Sissy spent a few hundreds of dollars for the alterations. Not sure if that's considered expensive or if that's the norm for wedding dress alterations. The store is open until 9am-6pm but on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they're open until 8pm. I would definitely recommend giving them a shot. Where do I begin, I took my wedding dress here that I purchased from Gesinee's to keep it in the same hands and not have to transfer the dress anywhere. They screwed up my dress for my sister's wedding a couple years ago but gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe things have changed since then. NOT! First, I was going to have them do all the alterations but when there were the same price as the dress I had them take some stuff alterations off. As she was doing that, the price kept going up because she "forgot" to add that one. The alterations came to $200 for, a sweetheart neckline cut, and upper part of the dress taken in. I come back in to try my dress on, the upper part of the dress was not taken in as it should have been. She kept telling me I wasnt supposed to do that. Really? So its $200 for you to cut a sweetheart? No I sewed the bra. So its $200 to sew a bra and cut a sweetheart? Another gal comes over and points to the sheet and says whats this? It says upper? Oh suddenly they didnt do what they were supposed to... So I get pinned and they take it in where they are supposed to up top... I come back to try my dress on a week later. It's so tight I'm scared to breath, it feels like the back of the dress is going to rip open (its only a two inch piece of fabric on the upper part) the bra that was "sewed in" is stitched in the wrong part (too low) causing the sweetheart to pucker, along with pulling the dress down. The dress caused me to have back fat and rolls on my back(never had that before) it was pulled so tight. Before they touched the dress everything was smooth and the dress was classy as it should be, after they touched the dress, it looked terrible. I leave the dress for another day so I can come back with my friend who is a seamstress and she can take a look. I try on the dress and it is still a bit snug so they need to let it out a little more. They did it in about 15 minutes. I try the dress back on and the embelishment on the back is off center, one side was taken in further than the other. At this point I've had it, I take the dress and my friend is now doing the rest of the alterations. Long story short, I will (and did) take my dress elsewhere and you should too. read more

I loved the service I got here. I can't remember her name who helped us and altered my dress, but she was wonderful, so nice, and did a great job on my dress. However, accessories here are extremely overpriced, and they attempt to sell you them and encourage they are a good deal. Don't do it! The huge thing for me was the ordering of the wrong size of dress. I got measured and was told I should be a size 8. When it came to ordering, the lady recommended I get a size 6 instead (for less costs of alterations). I don't get why they wanted me to get a size smaller. Also, the sample I tried was a size 6 and it BARELY zipped up. I told them I wasn't planning on losing weight either. I went with their suggestion anyway, since I figured they knew what they were doing. The dress comes in and won't zip up at all. My mom had sheer sleeves and a back added to her dress and you would never know it was added on, it looked like it came with the dress. Most disappointing experience and frustrating and stressful part of our entire wedding and planning process. I'd purchased a dress in Europe and knew that I would have to still get it fitted before our wedding here. Ill be honest, it's not like I got something super exclusive because as it turns out Gesinees actually carries the designer of whom I'd purchased the dress. I went to Gesinees with plenty of time before the wedding to have my dress altered. As with any wedding dress when I purchased mine they sized up slightly which put me at the smallest fit they had leaving some room in the chest and a lot of extra length at the bottom. With my first fitting appointment I put the dress on and told them exactly that, I needed them to take length off the bottom and take it in slightly at the top. The lady who fitted me told me that taking it in at the top would be unnecessary and that I should just fill my cups with extra patting. Nonetheless I told her I wanted her to take it in at the top so she pinned the bottom and the top. I then left my dress there for several months to have it taken care of. When I came in for my final fitting, there were strips at the bottom that weren't completely taken off, and it was very visible that all they had done to the dress is just cut off a chunk of fabric. That's it. No hemming, no neat lining, nothing. Simply cut it, and not even neatly or well done. And the top? Well... I doubt they did anything there because I still had too much room up there, even with them supposedly taking it in. As a matter of fact, it was so bad that on my wedding day as I was dancing with my now husband, he accidentally stepped on part of my train and the entire (!) dress came down. Exposing my undergarments down to my belly bottom. Terrible terrible experience all together and don't even get me started on what they charged me for all of this. Mind you they did charge me for hemming and taking in the top of the dress. Bottom line; Do not go to their alteration center. You'll regret it. I know I do. read more

I had a good experience. For not knowing what I wanted and being the type of woman that does not wear dresses it was a miracle I found a dress in one session. Helpful and priced well for the occasion. Ms. Teresa is the best! She got what I was saying and with each dress we figured it out and I said "yes!" To the dress. She was so sweet she even stayed longer after her shift was over to make me feel special. I never felt rushed. I think the experience really depends on which employee you get for the best experiences. The experience I had with my sisters buying the brides maid dress was a little different. We had a different employee and felt rushed to make a purchase. On a lighter note, there is a huge selection of wedding dresses and brides maids dresses. read more

I wasn't happy here at all I was getting a bridesmaids dress alter and I went for the first fitting and they pin everything and I was told to come back for the second fitting. The alterations I needed was gonna be $80! It was an extra $75 to hem it! I couldn't believe it so I told them to not do the hemming. I then went back for the second fitting and they had took it in too much and it was extremely uncomfortable on my arm pit. One of the ladies told me it was gonna be $21 dollars to fix what they had alter!!! I got upset and said there was no way I was gonna pay that so they said they would just fix it with out me paying the $21. It's a joke the price they charge its almost like buying two dresses save your money and find some where else. read more

My dress was almost a perfect for me....almost. I was convinced that not too much needed to be done... Just taken out a bit at the hips (cause you.. I'm a girl with curves) and that was it. I came in for my fitting last week with that on my mind, I was skipping the bustling portion cause I'm not a bustling type of a girl. Anyway, I came in and was pleasantly greeted by Irene and the girls, we were immediately down to business! Irene helped me with my dress and I was standing in the mirror looking at my amazing gown (which Irma from the Gesinee bridal store found for me, I can't thank her enough!) and I didn't think it could look any better than it already did.. Irene and the ladies quickly made me realize that little alterations go a long way.. They made little suggestions to make the dress look like it was made for me and me only. They weren't pushy in anyway and really took the time with me to make my dress look even more amazing than it did. I go for my final fitting next week and I'm beyond excited! Horrible horrible horrible horrible service! Let's see where should I start? Two of my bridesmaids got their dresses altered without their permission and have had to come in for several fittings after as they tried to fix their mistakes. My wedding dress had blood on it when I went to try it on. The only person that seems to know what she is talking about is the manager Irene. Horrible! Would definitely not recommend!!! I had my wedding gown altered there. I came the first time, Miss Chui, I believe her name is, measured me, pinned my dress, and gave me the approximate cost, which was expensive. But it was prompt. So the second time I came was a week later, and my dress alterations were complete! They did a good job. They cut the length, shorten the straps of the dress, and made a bustle. Also they ironed it, even though it was being shipped the next day to a different city. So overall - great job, but expensive! read more

I wish I had written this review when this happened two months ago but I was so angry I didn't even want to think about it then. I bought a Bridesmaid dress at their store and had it altered there - it was a one strap asymmetrical dress and the strap was falling off of my shoulder - they pinned it up, but it still fell off even though it was the right length - so something was clearly wrong, but they just said they would put in some elastic and it would stay. Knowing nothing about dresses I said okay. They were also shortening the hem and lowering the arm hole under the strap side because I have a short torso. WELL. They *CUT* the strap when they altered it instead of tucking it - which any seamstress should know not to do and guess what? They cut it too short!!!!! By about two inches! It would not reach together. I was in a complete panic and they clearly were as well. They *DENIED* cutting it at first - as if I am some imbecile who can't tell cut fabric! Then they admitted they had cut it. Second thing: One woman walks over - I believe her name was Irene, who had not previously been involved, takes one look and says oh, the strap in the back needs to be moved - that's why it's falling off of her shoulder, it's not in the right place. Um, shouldn't the person who pinned the alterations have known this?! HUGE mistake. So in order to get the two sides of the strap to reach once they moved it, they had to hike the dress up a good inch or two higher than it should have been which made it TOO TIGHT. So my boobs and back were squished out over the top, it sat unevenly so one waist side was over an inch higher than the other, and they had to take out the alteration they had done of lowering the arm hole to get it to reach, so it was totally hiked up in my armpit - very uncomfortably so. Needless to say, it fit terribly, and they also just did a terrible job - pulls everywhere, and a HOLE in the strap! Looking like crap on your sister's wedding day is a really traumatizing situation, let me tell you. I tried to get a refund since they ruined the dress and drastically altered my experience of the wedding, and they would only refund me 55$ of the 175$ (which was WAY overpriced to begin with). When I demanded a full refund the manager said she saw no issue with them having cut the strap as if they was some sort of common practice. And said she thought it looked fine. Oh yeah, and I was in there for SIX hours as they kept trying to fix and re-fix it. Stay AWAY. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DRESS ALTERED HERE!!! They are disorganized, unprofessional, dishonest and incredibly sloppy. I had 5 appointments for my dress and the 5th one took almost 5 hours because they could not get it right! Initially the problem was I was sold a drop-waist dress that had a double seam running across the middle of the torso; so it was the dress construction that was the issue. BUT at the time of purchase I was promised it could be taken care of and fixed (at their bridal salon across the street) At the 5th fitting is when they FINALLY told me the truth that the seam in the dress could not be fixed/removed and that we had to find a way to disguise the seam! I was livid and in tears at this point. Finally the store manager came into the picture (way too late at this point) and offered up some sash options to place over the seam to hide it. I was mildly satisfied with this option and the manager, Sara (who comes across as very unsympathetic and crass), then made the snarky comment "don't worry, the sash is a gift from me". She did NOT need to make that comment and quite frankly I should have been refunded money for the alterations as well, especially since they were so overpriced to begin with!!! The last straw was that my dress was not ready until 3pm THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING. There were countless times I was shaking I was so angry and no bride should ever feel that from ONE vendor. read more

I was referred by my co worker who spoke highly of this place, so despite previous Yelp reviews, which were bad, I gave them a chance. Boy was I wrong. Had a very horrible experience with these people. Way over priced and very unorganized. I suggest shopping around more before you consider this place. Put me in a bad position a week before my wedding. Was able to go somewhere else which was way cheaper and they knew what they were doing and didn't have to do extra work like Genesiees seamstress suggested. To top it off, took less time. I will never ever come here again. They are way over priced. Needed to get a dress hemmed for my best friends wedding and they charged me $120 for hemming and taking in a little on the sides. Another brides maid who lives in Monterey only paid $35 for the hem. Don't go to this place. You will be charged way over priced. read more
