When it was time to find someone to make alterations to my wedding dress, I knew I could trust them! It was a huge project. My wedding dress had been purchased about 18 months prior to my wedding. During that time I lost a significant amount of weight, making the dress way too big. I was nervous, thinking about the amount of work needed to be done to make the dress fit me properly but the ladies at Lusona's said they could do it! I took my dress in about 4 months before my wedding date and had a fitting every month, each time getting closer and closer to fitting perfectly. She did an amazing job altering my gown - she made adjustments and added material to both upper sides of the dress to have it fit me as well as hem and adjust the back and it fit like a glove. It cost a pretty penny but the end result was seamless and looked like it was made for me. She's a magician when it comes to fixing and making alterations. This dress was a big tight on me so rather than ship it back and get a bigger size that would've also required (more) alterations, I opted to have her make these tiny adjustments to save time. Workmanship and service is not what it used to be! It's been 10 years since I've taken anything there for alterations. Two out of three pairs of pants were hemmed too short. One pair by at least 2 inches. I left those to be re-done. Upon getting home, I noticed one pant leg is not even sewn in a 1" area. Instead it appears that fabric glue was used and failed! Furthermore, the stitching is sloppy and caught up on both pant legs. This is not a $30 hemming job. This lacks professionalism altogether. Where would I be without Rose and her team!!?? I purchased my wedding dress at La Soie boutique in Walnut Creek before it closed in July '23. They recommended Lusona for alterations before they closed. I was a bit skeptical at first - wasn't sure if this business could handle my huge wedding dress but I took a leap of faith! Rose and her team were AMAZING in shortening my skirt's hem (there were SEVEN layers and Rose managed to complete this in record time!!), bustling the skirt, shortening the straps, and altering my 2nd outfit (which I ended up not using because of how fantastic I felt in my wedding dress~). I cannot thank the Lusona team enough for making my dream wedding dress fit ME like a glove. I know this dress was a massive project for Rose and I am so grateful for her hard work. And she was right - the bustle is VERY secure no matter how heavy my skirt was. I was able to dance as long as I liked and my bustle would not let go! Extremely overpriced. But I guess it's my fault for not asking for a quote. I was completely horrified at the amount they charged me. What really got me though was my dress came back crumpled! Ok you charge an arm and leg then I totally expect my garment to come back at least in the condition I gave it in! When I mentioned that, I was told they don't do that unless requested by the customer. I'm supposed to request that my garment be returned uncrushed? For the exorbitant amount they charge I would say the very least they do is give me back my clothes ironed or at least the way I gave it to them..it was a brand new dress that I needed taken in. Rose is such a sweet sweet lady who is an expert in her craft. I came to Rose two days before my wedding. She worked late to finish my dress and convinced the dry cleaner to help rush a cleaning. She was able to get the dress ready before expected, which relieved me of so much additional stress. I was amazed by her attention to detail and her warm personality! Rose is amazing. And for everyone who says "they are pricey" I ask you, can you do this? Can you take a chiffon dress or lace dress and alter it to look beautiful? Would you want someone to do it cheaply? I sure don't!! Alterations is a skillset. One that is highly undervalued and underrated. What these ladies do is amazing! They really helped me out - my original tailor dropped out on me a month before the wedding. The first tailor refused to give me an appointment earlier than September (the wedding was in October) even though I had called her in late July. So then when she dropped out on me with only a month left, I was incredibly anxious! Luckily Lusona gave me an appointment the very next day and I'm very happy with how my wedding dress fit. I think Rose did a much better job than that other tailor would've anyway. She hemmed it perfectly and took in the bust so the corset wasn't popping up like it was when I received the dress from BHLDN. My wedding dress was a ballgown and I brought another simpler dress just in case wearing it became too much during the reception but the other dress never even left my car! This is hard for me to write, as I really want to support local small businesses, but I will not be going back to Lusona. Prior to COVID, I regularly took all of my tailoring here; they did beautiful work. I don't know what has changed, but I just took a brand new dress in this week to have the fabric under the arms sewn higher- it was a very simple fix, but they ruined my dress- they tore the silk when they took the original stitching out. The work was sloppy and when I pointed out the torn fabric, they debated with me whether or not it was torn! I left crying- they did not apologize, did not offer a refund- nothing. I paid one third of what the dress cost me (in the hundreds of dollars) for the tailoring, and now I can't even wear the damn dress!! read more

I just came in for an appointment to get my wedding dress altered and had such a great experience. All the staff is so kind and friendly and answered all my questions and explained all that needed to be done with my dress. I was nervous that they wouldn't be able to accommodate since I had a lot that needed to be done but they said they can do it and by my wedding date in July! Bonus- at also a very reasonable price! I had gone through a ton of bad experiences before I found this shop and not only did they relieve my worries, they completely over-delivered and accommodated me perfectly. I bought a wedding dress off the rack and it was 10 sizes too big and incredibly detailed. I was told by two separate tailors it was impossible to reconstruct the dress down to my size 2 frame or whatever. When I arrived at Luosanas, the mother daughter duo got straight to work collaborating on my fitting. They are so cute together! They were passionate and exchanged details and pointed out all the details to one another. They assured me they can do it. They really did it. I might be assuming what exactly went into it, but I truly believe they had to completely take apart my entire wedding dress to make it smaller. This was much more than just taking it in on the sides and hem. I did three fittings, not including the day I picked it up, but each time you could tell they were essentially making me a new dress. I can't even begin to imagine what went into it and I am forever amazed and grateful of their work. Timing was great, fantastic customer service, passionate work. I went to a couple of places to get an estimate on how much it would cost to alter a sample wedding dress down 2 sizes and for a 5'0" girl. This was the only place that had me try it on for a consult, the others just looked at my dress on the hanger and gave me an estimate which did not give me any confidence. I am so happy I went with Lusona Alterations, the mom and daughter duo are great. I had a more difficult dress to alter because it had a scalloped hem edge but I think they were able to give me a fair price for it all and worked with my budget. Sorry to do this but I feel like I got pretty screwed over on my wedding dress alterations. I paid $525 for them to essentially rip apart the top of my dress and then not put it back together again. Each time I came into the shop it was like pulling teeth telling them what I wanted, and there was always an argument back and forth about what was "possible". Excuse me? This is my wedding ... this is supposed to be happy and exciting not anxiety-ridden and annoying. They completely "forgot" about my final fitting and my dress was not complete less than a week before my wedding. They told me to come back in a few hours, so at that point I knew they scrambled to do whatever they could just to "finish" it, if you can even call it that. They butchered both the top and bottom of the dress (the bust padding was literally spilling out of the dress so you could still see it), the hem was uneven and still way too long in places, and worst of all for that price they didn't even add a bustle because it was "impossible". They literally told me to take somewhere else, which I did (see my 5 star review for Despina) and she had no issues doing it overnight ... This place was recommended by BHLDN in Walnut Creek, so I had full confidence, but please take heed of the negative reviews here before you hand over your precious wedding dress. read more

Rose altered my BHLDN wedding dress, and I was so happy with the finished product. When the dress first arrived from the store and I opened the box and tried it on, it did not look great and I was pretty worried. But all Rose had to do was shorten the straps and hem it, and it looked perfect on me. I really appreciated Rose because she knew what she was doing. I dropped off two pairs of pants, one to be re-hemmed (length was fine, the stitches had just fallen out) and another to be taken in around the waist. I'll be the first to admit that was a tricky one, considering they were hiking pants and an odd material. I was told "give me a week, good as new". I came back in a week and BOTH pairs had not even been touched. In fact, she pulled them off the FLOOR from a pile in the corner. She had no excuses and didn't even seem slightly bothered at this poor service. She told me to come back the next day and they'd be ready. I went back and yet AGAIN they weren't ready...thrown back in the corner, actually. She ran to a machine in the back, threw a few stitches in the pants that needed hemming and told me fixing the hiking pants was impossible. REALLY?! Finally I go to pay for the very poorly hemmed, wrinkled beyond belief dress pants and when I hand her a credit card she rudely snarks "you've got to be kidding me, you don't have cash?" I did in fact not, so I had to leave, get cash and come back! I walked out if there with two balls of wrinkled pants and NO idea why anyone deals with this woman. read more

It really pains me to write this review because although the quality of the tailoring is good, the integrity of the business is poor. As a first time customer, I was excited to make this my new tailor since it is so close to my workplace. I was quoted in person one price and when I came back I paid far more than what I was quoted. The woman said she had left me a voicemail after I left, but being busy I never heard her voicemail. I believe when you quote someone in person face to face, that is an agreement between customer and owner. I feel very mislead and felt like the woman should have honored the price I was quoted. I told her I have no problem paying the full balance but very calmly and politely explained that I think it's best practice to honor what you tell someone. She was extremely rude to me. Perhaps because they have been in business so long & have such a great reputation that they forgot what got them there in the first place. I was hopeful that Lusonas would be a great tailor based on yelp. I needed help with some pants, the waist was too big and I wanted them taken in so they would fit right without a belt. We talked, she fitted the pants, and said to come back Monday. What happened when I walked in Monday? The pants were untouched and there were some excuses given. Letting me waste my time like this is unacceptable. If you say you are going to do something, do it. At the least you should call your customers and say you are late. Rose is an AMAZING seamstress! I had my wedding gown altered, with the bust taken out, plus hemming & bustle - all on a dress with 5 layers of organza with a lace applique overlay. It was not easy work and required several fittings, but the end result was magnificent! Rose turned my ill-fitting dress into something that looked custom made. She is not cheap by any means, but well worth it for an event like a wedding where perfect tailoring is a must. Rose did an excellent job tailoring my clothes! I was given a bunch a clothes that were about two sizes too big and she made them my size. She didn't attempt to tailor anything that simply wasn't possible and she went through the process with me so I would know exactly what to expect when I got my clothes back. She took a lot of care. In my opinion her prices are reasonable considering what a great job shes doing. If you want to pay 5 dollars to get your clothes tailored at the somewhere else go for it! I dont know where people have been tailoring their clothes, these prices seemed pretty typical for me. But you get what you pay for anyway so I am okay with spending the money. The woman who owns this place is very warm and friendly, and is also very skilled with her alterations. You can trust her with your expensive wedding gown or designer jeans! She was rude and condescending when I was surprised by the price and said, "you should have asked how much before." ******** BEWARE ********** I will not return to this business. I brought a pair of pants in for some alterations, the woman who helped me, probably in her 70's, was very rude right off the bat. I wanted a back seam of the pants taken in and she argued with me telling me that she didn't understand why I needed it done and I kindly yet assertively asked her to please do it, she reluctantly agreed. I was also getting the pants hemmed about 2-3 inches in length. The cost was $34 and they gave me a ticket saying it would be done in about 10 days (wow). I went back on the 9th day, hoping they might be ready, and this same rude lady was there. She looked at my ticket and said NOOOOOOO, you have to come back tomorrow it says tomorrow they will be done. I'm thinking "isn't she going to even look to see if they are done", well she did not look so I figure, they must not be done, oh well, no biggee. So at that point I was a little annoyed but rolling with it. When I picked the pants up the next day, and got home with them, the back seam looked great, exactly what I wanted, but I then realized that one leg hem was at least about 1/2 an inch shorter than the other. I returned to the store to explain the problem and get them fixed and she was ONCE AGAIN VERY RUDE, she said that it was my fault immediately, said that I pinned them wrong. I explained to her that I came in and had one leg pinned (about 2-3 inches shorter than the other) and told her that is where I wanted both legs to come to. Her reaction and behavior was so strange and odd and very RUDE and accusatory. She took the pants from me and held them a certain way and said that there was nothing wrong with them and there was no difference in length. She said, "See, what do you want me to do, they are the same, blah blah blah" I wanted to go off on her but it was not worth my time or energy. I left, very disappointed, annoyed etc. I immediately took them to another alterations place to get fixed and they looked at them and they put them on a table flat and found the 1/2 inch (or more) length difference right off and only charged me $10 to fix them. Brides beware!!!!! I would never use Rose again. She added so much unnecessary stress to the weeks before my wedding, shame on her. I asked her for three things: a bustle, to hem my dress and to take it in. The first bustle made me look like a Victorian napkin, with the dress flaring out to an unnaturally wide shape. Then, she took the dress in so much that I couldn't catch my breath. She was very pleased with her work and told me how good it looked. I asked her to let it out a bit so I could eat my wedding dinner and she said normally she would not because she gave me a defined waist which I don't need because I am small to begin with but for me, okay! Two weeks later I went back for what was supposed to be my final fitting (I had three final fittings in the end) and the hem was good, the bustle good, but still I couldn't breathe. Another customer told her "It's a pretty dress, Rose but let the bride breathe!" When I asked Rose if she had let the dress out she stuck her finger in my face and said "You never ask!" I about flipped. I then took a friend with me to make sure Rose would do what I wanted and still the dress was too tight. I am a size 0 petite, so this isn't a body issue thing, it was about comfort. At that point it was two weeks before my wedding and I wasn't sure I'd be able to wear my wedding dress that I first took to Rose two months before my wedding. My friend and I went back 10 days before the wedding and now she made it too loose! I yanked my dress up three times as I walked to the round mirror. Then Rose said I am a complainer! "You complain it's too tight, now you complain it's too loose!!! IT'S MY WEDDING DRESS!!!! GET IT RIGHT!!!! For my third final fitting, I took my mother in law who sews with me (she was now in town for the wedding). The dress was finally right! That was five days before my wedding. I went back with my inlaws to pay for the alterations and Rose greeted by asking "What kind of mood are you in today?" Excuse me? What have you done wrong to my dress today, Rose? When I went to pay I checked her math and she said "Rose never make mistake!" Except Rose when you totally screwed up my wedding dress and refused to do what I asked you to do three times in the weeks before my wedding. I had the dress steamed, so I did not try it on once I brought it home. It turns out, the dress was too long. I had to hold it up while I danced and my husband and I couldn't do the dance we had taken lessons (and paid $$$$) to do. I stepped on my rhinestones all night while I danced, crunch, crunch, crunch because Rose had not hemmed it properly. I found Rose on Yelp and I have to say I wish I had kept looking. I went here from recommendation from BHLD. Worst experience when it should have been a happy moment. She explained what needed to be altered but somethings didn't make sense. So we asked her again and instead of politely explaining, her response was "You don't understand! I am so simple!!"
