This is a non-bridal related review. As a petite woman that cares about the fit of her clothes, I tailor about 80% of my closet so they look like they're "made for me". It's an additional investment that is completely worth it to me. After moving to Walnut Creek 5 years ago I had to cycle through a series of tailors b/c they moved their businesses or sold them. On came another search for a good tailor whom I could trust with my clothes. This is where Olga comes in. She not only has a great personality but she's a talented tailor. As someone who is experienced with tailoring normally I have an idea of how I'd like the clothes to look on me. Olga provides great recommendations and options for an item and we have a discussion on the solution. She's cropped t-shirts for me, keeps original hems on denim, shortened top and jacket sleeves, taken in waists and slimmed down fits for me. When I bought my wedding photoshoot cheongsam that was slightly too small in the waist for me, she was able to find a solution that would allow for the waist to be taken out so it could fit (which I wasn't expecting a solution for this other than ordering a new dress 1 size up). I'm a regular customer of Olga's and will continue to be as long as I don't move and she's not retired. :) There was a review of a woman who complained that OIga was judgmental of her weight. I've personally witnessed Olga on multiple occasions work with customers of ALL SIZES and she was nothing but professional and kind to them. My dress was ready 2 weeks before the wedding and fits perfect. My husband suit needed alterations on sleeves and pants need hemming. HOWEVER, it was a bit pricier than I expected--my bridesmaid dress hemmed with a clip came to $126.50, which was about 50% more than what some of the other bridesmaids paid. Based on the price point, it would have been nice to have the garment steamed upon pick-up. The quality of the work was great, but I might look for a more budget-friendly option next time. I don't typically write reviews, but this was an unusally frustrating experience. I took in 2 pair of jeans to be hemmed and gave her a specific in-seam measurement. I measured them myself to allow a little extra length for shrinkage after washing. She told me it would take 2 weeks, and quoted a very high price. I said ok, thinking if you want good service, you will need to pay for it, and I don't buy clothes that often at all. I went back on the agreed upon day to get my jeans and they weren't done. She told me to return that afternoon after she gave me a call. I wasn't happy about a second trip, but what can you do? She called me a little over an hour latter and told me they were ready. I went back to get them only to discover she took an extra 1/2 inch off the length and neither pressed nor hung them on a hanger (they were simply placed in bag). Honestly, I am quite small and need to hem all of my pants and this has never happened to me before. My pants have always been returned in "wearable" condition. Now I have jeans without the extra length I wanted and I have to press them myself before I can wear them. She had clearly rushed through the job without thinking about customer service. Needless to say she charged way too much for the service I received, and I won't be going back. read more

Olga does amazing work! I brought in a Maggie Sottero wedding dress with 3 layers of lining, 6 layers of tulle and a 4ft long train. Olga patiently hemmed (or trimmed) all the layers and removed nearly all of the train. She also adjusted the straps and back panels (which had a lot of beading to work around). I had so much trust in the process and every time I came in for a fitting Olga and I had the best time (some laughter, some dancing). It was such a positive experience, especially when the bridal industry is so busy and many stores and tailors are tired (and grumpy). Olga was speedy and would call me back for fittings quickly. She always had my wedding date in mind and was working backwards. I couldn't recommend Olga more! PS Olga has a fantastic outlook on life, love and the party! read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience here. I have a dress that I purchased a few years ago that I wanted to wear for an event. I've gained a bit of weight so although the dress fits, the zipper buckles a bit in the back. I think we can all agree, not a great look. I'm not delusional about my size and just wanted to see if there was an option for wiggle room so the zipper wouldn't buckle. I saw all the great reviews for this place so I went in. She was helping another person so I patiently waited. She was helpful and kind to this person, willing to try different scenarios with her. When that person went to put on another garment, she looked at me and said "what do you need". I started to reply my scenario listed above and she said "SIZE" and grabbed my dress. Then she said "I can tell just by looking at you this isn't your size. There's nothing I can do. You'll have to wait until you lose weight." And that was it. I walked out of there with my tail between my legs. She didn't even have me put it on... All I can deduct from this is that she doesn't like to work with bigger clients. I wear a 14 right now and the dress is a large fitting 12. I left and went to a different seamstress who offered options in Walnut Creek. read more

I had a great experience with Olga! I brought in my wedding dress a few months before our date. I was also in progress of losing weight. Olga was so helpful in so many ways. When I came to pick up my dress for the final day she told me no. lol She had to take it in even more because i lost more weight. Jokingly told me not to lose anymore before the wedding. I had so much fun every time I would come in for a fitting. We had to take off few inches of the length, bring it in a bit on the sides and add cups to the inside of my dress. She was helpful in making decisions and showing me different options and possibilities. She would meet with me even on her closed days. I would drive about 45 mins each way just to come here. Olga was also very welcoming to my friends, family and my one year old son. Two of out of my three bridesmaids also went to Olga. She worked with them pretty quickly and the dresses fit them so well! Olga did a great job with my wedding dress. I brought it to her about 2 months out from the wedding, went back for a fitting after 1.5 weeks, and picked up the finished dress about a month before the wedding. She is sweet and knows what she's doing. When she pinned the hem of the dress, she had be walk around and make sure it was at a good length, adjusting and re-pinning all around when needed. We left a bit of a train, but not so much that I would have to deal with a bustle. The only reason I'm deducting a star is the final cost was double what she gave me as an estimate when I dropped the dress off.. She did a perfect job, but I just didn't expect the cost at the end. I would still consider bringing other things to tailor/hem in the future if needed. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I purchased a wedding dress off of eBay and it was made in China. When I received it, I liked the dress but it basically made me look like I had no shape whatsoever. I took it in to let Olga have a look at it and all I can say is she is a miracle worker. She took my dress and totally transformed it and it fit me like a glove!!! It also had a fluffy train that I knew I would not be able to maneuver around in after the ceremony so I asked if she could make it detachable somehow for me. And of course..... she did. All we had to do was pull one thread after the ceremony and the bulky train was gone!!!! I absolutely love the work that Olga did and also just love her. Olga is an angel. I originally took my dress to Flares in Walnut Creek, I was very unhappy with the fit of my dress. First it was too loose, then she took it in and then it was too tight, and then she took out a few stitches and it was still awkward. I was getting a bit frustrated with the back and forth and was running with a deadline, so I just paid and knew I was taking the dress elsewhere I found Olga's shop off of Yelp and based off the reviews I called her to describe my problem and she told me to bring it to her right away. I went in the next day. I put it on, she watched me walk in it, and advised that we should hem it because it was dragging too much. She was honest about what she was going to do and I just trusted her expertise. She got it done within a few days. Super professional. I cannot rate the Olgas highly enough! I'm a soon-to-be bride and I came to the store with one of those $1000+ dresses with beading and lace and the whole shebang.. and it was 4 sizes too big! The best part? I ordered it that way! That being said, I came to Olgas Atelie after reading all of the Yelper reviews and comparing them to other seamstresses in the area. I didn't get a quote from Olgas, but, the other stores quoted me $500-$700, the Olgas also made me feel more comfortable, getting it done in 2 weeks wasn't even a big deal. I had a lot done, in addition to taking it down 4 sizes (and having it fit Perfectly at the first fitting) I also had a bustle and cups built into the dress. The lines on the dress are still perfect, it fits so nicely, is comfy, and all totaled: under $200.00. That's INSANELY cheap. And, yes, you get ready/dressed and re-dressed in small sectioned off dressing areas and yep you sure do call out your information. Why?
