Over priced, takes very long and service totally different dependent on the person who is there.

I have been going to their shop for about two months, very disappointed in their dry cleaning work. They don't even know how to fold a turtleneck top. I had them dry clean 8 quality turtlenecks all cotton. First time women gave me price of $7.50 each. I had them dry clean and small repair on a coat with four turtleneck and price was $95. for both jobs. I next gave them four turtlenecks with the price as I was told $7.50 each. When I came back to pick them up she tried to charge $39.00 Say one was sweater. It is not, its the same as the other 3 turtlenecks. She got mad and saw her mistake and took $35. 9 cents off me say they were $7.75 each. And she was rude about it. I had come into give her three more turtlenecks, but decided not to, as she was rude to me and walked away with out a thank you. A real creepy place. And here is the truth about their work the clothes are poorly done and look dirty, terrible dry cleaning service, no tissue paper or folding flat as turtlenecks should be after dry cleaning. I have been to many good cleaning service in NYC, who really know how to clean clothes these people are stupid and no nothing about how to really care for clothes stay away from them. read more

I dropped off a backpack that had a hole in it to get it stitched up. The woman who helped me was friendly and charged me a reasonable price. When I went to pick it up I was helped by a man (I think her husband). Fortunately I took it out of the bag for inspection before leaving the shop as the hole (a large one) was still there, unchanged. I explained to the man that it hadn't been repaired. He immediately started claiming there must have been 2 holes and treating me as if I was trying to cheat him and get 2 holes fixed for the price of one. No apoloiges, just a very hostile response. He then went to get his wife who went into the back and repaired the hole. The entire time he acted as if I was the one in the wrong. His wife, when she gave me the repaired back backpack, apologized (unnecessarily) and was kind and appropriate. The man's behavior was shocking. Terrible customer service and failed to take accountability for ruining my $400 shirt. The owner blamed me for the damage, even though I have been one of their highest spend customers over the last 4 years. I easily spent $200 a month with them so it is incredibly short sighted to blame their loyal customer and lose my business for the long term. Truly unbelievable! read more

Needed four dresses altered. Work completed in 10 days. Reasonable prices. Work is good, my only complaint is that they don't reliably use the same color thread as fabric so I have a black dress with red thread popping through and red dress with black popping through. But the adjustments are perfect. read more

Took a women's suit here to get altered: jacket taken in, pants hemmed, and pants taken in at the waist. Fitting was very efficient, alterations took a week and everything came back fitting exactly as I had hoped. Good neighborhood shop. read more

My wife bought me a wonderful Pendleton wool flannel shirt for my birthday but it was a little long in the tail and sleeves for my taste. They hemmed some dress pants of mine in a rush request for a trip and did a great job as well as accommodated my timelines. I had a great experience here and would go back again! I needed some clothes altered (2 dresses and 3 pairs of dress pants). It took just over a week to get down. My clothes fit perfectly now! I showed up at the door of Alterations Plus with a nightmare of a bridesmaids dress which needed some serious alterations-- I, being the smart ass that I am, decided it was a great idea to have it shipped to my mother in law to have her change the floor length gown to a pencil skirt (bride's orders), using my sister in law as a model. Welp, she's a size 25 waist, and needless to say I'm not. I looked like a sausage on my bottom half, and couldn't zip the dress without hiking it up so the strapless top was hitting my neck. The owner spent two weeks re-working the dress, having me come in for multiple try-ons until we got it to (somehow) look like it had never been touched in the first place. After all that effort, I looked exactly like the other 10 (not a typo) bridesmaids on the big day, and the owner only charged me about 70 bucks more than my other friends paid for the shortening of the hem alone! I've definitely found my go-to for alterations and dry cleaning in this city. Anyone who would take on that disaster deserves some serious loyalty! read more

I first came here on a recommendation from a friend after telling him about my unexpected run-in with a hook hanging off the fence at 3rd & Virginia where they do those 'sidewalk sales' (someone didn't clean up after themselves). Unfortunately, it tore an L-shaped hole in the sleeve of a new suit jacket, about 1/4" by 1/4". You could clearly see the white lining under the grey fabric, and I thought it was a total loss due to the frayed threads and the shape of the hole. I stopped in, showed it to Thu, and asked if there was any hope in saving it. She said yes, and explained how it would be fixed with some complex layered stitchwork so it would appear as a cluster of stiches over the hole. She had it fixed in 5 days, and I was blown away by how well it was patched. You wouldn't know there was any damage unless I pointed it out. That was over a year ago, and I wear the suit a lot for work. The stitching has held up, and I've gone back for more work since...sewing on buttons (I know how, I just hate doing it), fixing torn seams, and adjusting hems. Always great work, well worth the price. From my experience with alterations, paying more for quality work the first time saves me money on not having to get it fixed again later. read more

This place charges $10 to get a fitting. Just go to Nordstrom or most other alterations shops and get fitted for free.

The lady friend brought in our comforter and my peacoat, and after waiting about a week, everything came back clean and in good shape. Why only one star then? The peacoat that came back was not mine, and a poor substitute at that. Mix-ups at drycleaners are common enough, and I wouldn't knock off more than a star or so except for the way that the owner handled it. First, when we went back to return the other coat, the owner tried to claim that they had never seen that coat, despite the receipt right in front of her face clearly stating that they had in fact cleaned that coat last week. Then, when the owner did finally find my actual coat 8 hours later, she calls me to ask me why I dropped off the same coat that she now has in her possession. She even goes so far as to describe my coat in the same differentiating terms that I had described it to her in earlier in the day, terms as simple and obvious as liner coloring (mine is beige, the other was black), and claim that no, this was the same coat that I've had all along. Seriously? I'm an extremely polite person when talking to service people, but the one thing that will get me yelling is when I'm lied to, especially so blatantly. This lady's lie was so transparent and balsy that I almost have to respect her for it. Almost... In short, the cleaning service was fine, but there was a mix-up and the owner lied shamelessly to cover her tracks. Especially since there are other local options, I will not be returning. read more

Every time I've used this shop, I've come away feeling badly or even insulted. Yesterday, I asked Thu-Thao to sew two simple squares of fabric for an under the sink curtain. Just two rectangles and she quoted me a price of $80! Other times, I've had her alter my clothes and she's done an ok job, but very overpriced. I recently brought an extremely delicate, fragile sheer silk dress to Alterations Plus for cleaning. The dress had been stained and I had tried cleaning it at home by hand multiple times, which only resulted in spreading the stain around the dress. The label on this dress said "do not dry clean" but I brought it in as a last resort. She did a great job cleaning this dress, removing the stains completely. I've also had minor alterations done here, with consistently excellent results. Friendly and very reasonable rates. read more

The dry cleaning prices are average (or a little below) for Seattle; prices for alterations may be a bit higher than some other places, but the quality of the work is excellent. I found this place incredibly overpriced. They charged me $35 to hem a skirt. When I asked why, they said it was because it was an invisible stitch. I've had dozens of garments hemmed with invisible stitches in the past, typically for half this amount. The older woman at the front desk (who I believe is also the seamstress) was unfriendly. She never smiled, and I felt like she thought I was trying to cheat her just because I was asking questions. I asked for a quote on dry-cleaning a leather skirt and blazer and they quoted me double what Royal Cleaners quoted me on the other end of Capitol Hill. Alterations Plus did a good job altering my clothes, but due to the price and customer service, I won't be going back. Also, parking on the street in front of the shop is a nightmare. read more

Extremely disappointing. I heard great things about this place, so I took in a bridesmaids dress for a simple alteration. The alteration work was terrible - wrinkles were somehow sewn into the seams, and I was told to just "steam it out." First of all, the wrinkles are sewn in, so they won't steam out. Second, I specifically asked for the dress to be dry cleaned and ready to wear for the wedding that weekend. I asked her why the dress wasn't already steamed, and she said I had to pay extra for that. Not ever going back there. Wasted money on alterations, only to ruin a perfectly good dress. I've had the proprietor (Thu Thao) fix sweaters with MASSIVE moth holes in them. She did a beautiful job. I've also had her do basic alterations (moving buttons) and she moved the armor in my husbands' motorcycle pants. Work was good, and the price seemed reasonable. I'll be using her again. read more

I left some brand new jeans to be hemmed. The young woman asked me if I wanted just a simple hem, or to have the original hem moved. I asked her to explain the difference and she said simple hem would be a new hem and would cost $13. "Original hem" meant they would cut off the original, existing hem and blind sew it up higher on the pants leg, to better preserve the look of an original pair of jeans, and would cost $23. I said let's try the original hem that sounds neat, and I paid in advance the higher cost. I had my nanny pick up the jeans and what do you know, they did NOT move the original hem, they just did a new simple hem. And they kept the receipt. Clever way to overcharge me $10. I will not be going back. Watch out and be careful when you pick up to make sure you're getting what you paid for. read more

I brought a severely damaged peacoat(irregular rip at the shoulder that went through layers) in for repair and told the lady at the desk that I had all but given up on it. She was very nice and helpful, and told me that she would be able to fix it just like new. I was very skeptical but agreed to let her try. It was fairly priced for the work done and it was a completely brilliant job done. She said it would take about a week but called me in 3 days. I had brought the same coat to the other place down the street and the quoted me almost double the price with no assurances that it would look the same as when I got it. Yeah, the lady at alt plus has an accent, but she wasn't at all rude as other people have mentioned. Maybe they just don't like dealing with people with English as a second language. Amazing! I realized late last night that my fragile silk dress had a tear in the fabric right next to the seam. Took it in this morning, it's done this afternoon. The whole seam had needed to be replaced to make it look right. It looks fantastic, better than the original! This is super fragile fabric, very prone to pulls. I love the speed and skill with which my dress was handled. I am definitely taking future tailoring projects here! read more

Did a great job repairing a couple pairs of jeans. I always take my dry cleaning here, it's always available on time.

Dry cleaned pants returned wrinkled and covered with lint. Dry cleaned coat returned covered with lint. Were they even cleaned? Took 4 pairs of brand new pants in for easy alterations and all four were returned unwearable. I did get my money back, but had to push for it. It was suggested to me that I try and rerturn the pants to the store of purchase! I really wanted to like and support this local business, but given my experience that is not possible. read more

Rather frustrating. I had taken my wedding gown in to be steamed before the 'big day'. The nice white bag the dress originally came in was a bit too short for the dress and so the bottom and sash had wrinkles that I wanted out. I had asked for two things: 1) did they have an extra long bag that could be used and 2) to note that they should un-bustle the dress before steaming it (it had been bustled for the last fitting). They explained they could staple two plastic bags together to allow for the dress to hang fully. They did do this, but they did not return the original "nice" bag or wooden hanger - when I the dress arrived, it was on a crappy wire and paper hanger. So much for the 'nice pictures' of the hanging dress... To boot, they did not un-bustle the dress, so we still needed to steam out the dress ourselves at the venue, losing 30 precious minutes while a friend of mine went back to the cleaners to retrieve the bag and hanger that should have been returned in the first place. Overall, a fail in my book. read more

I brought in a brand-new Calvin Klein comforter to have it laundered (I wanted to be sure it was clean before I used it). The comforter was gorgeous, puffy, smooth, cotton outside, polyester inside. When I got it back, it was incredibly wrinkled and THEN I noticed that it was quite flat in some places, bunched up in others. Threads had been pulled out along the dividing columns of fill In short, the comforter is ruined. When I went to talk to them about the wrinkles (before I noticed the real problem), I was told there was nothing they could do about all the wrinkles (there was no way one could put such a comforter on the bed without cringing at its appearance) and I was offered my money back. I said okay. The woman put $5 on the counter. Yes, $5. The laundering alone cost $27. Now I will have to go to small claims court to get that money back along with the money I paid for the comforter. read more

I've had several items dry cleaned here and they've always been friendly, on-time, and reasonably priced. I recently had a crazy idea to alter a wool coat and went in to ask them about it (I wanted to replace the snaps on the coat with buttons, and this meant making button holes and relocating all of the fasteners). The woman who helped me was friendly as always, and did me a favor by talking me down from my craziness. Instead of taking my money and ruining my coat, she explained why what I wanted wouldn't work (due to the slightly asymmetrical cut of the coat, which I hadn't even noticed, moving this stuff around would have caused it to fit all wrong). In fact, she suggested a better alternative of just removing the offending snaps. I did it myself and it didn't cost me a dime. Now that's service! I've been very happy with their dry cleaning and will definitely go back the next time I decide I need to have something altered. read more
