Death is never easy on anyone and there is a lot of emotions good and bad tied to death of a loved one. Recently loss my grandmother and I knew they were the first people I would call to start the process of following her wishes to be cremated. Danielle, Hailey, Becca and Trey all made the experience just as comforting as it was with my grandfather. They explained thoroughly the process in detail as well as reinsured and updated when my grandmother arrived to their facility safely. They brought calm and peace to what is probably the toughest time for me personally given my grandmother was like a mother to me. This team and business respects people from all walks of life along with their customers beliefs in culture or spirit working collectively with your family to carry out any wishes your loved one had. Obviously there are some protocols that they have to oblige to during the pandemic but never less did it take away from great service they provide. Im truly thankful for them, their professionalism, guidance, respect and honor goes above and beyond any expectations you would have. Even after getting confirmation for pick-up from Tulip, BACS had no record of our pick-up appointment. I had an email confirming time and location and a follow-up email that said the crematory requested to push back an hour for pick up, yet they had no record of our pick up appointment. They blamed Tulip and was dismissive about the lack of communication and said it wasn't their fault. They should work with their partners to have a better process as this type of service is a sensitive time for families. The anger and dismissive attitude without acknowledging the experience of someone picking up a loved one is disturbing. Although I was able to get the remains of my loved one, it has been a very disturbing experience from both Tulip and Bay Area Crematory Society/A Bay Area Crematory. The experience really highlights the industries push to make money off of the deceased without care or concern.

I experienced poor service from Gabe. My son was cremated…read morelast September. His name was misspelled on the urn and death certificate. I NEVER received the death certificate from him either. I called him about it...he gave me lies about mailing it. I told him I never received it and asked for another copy. He said he had to get it from the Coroners office - and he said he'd mail it again. I'm thinking - No idiot just call me and I'll pick it up. Of course, he never called. I had to call him. Anyway, I finally went to the Coroners office and I asked them did Zapata Funeral Home request a death certificate and I was told no. This jerk messed up my son's name, urn, and death certificate. Stay away from him. Again - I buried my son - he had no compassion, no professionalism and no follow up.

Today, I am here with my son, and ex brother in laws and nephew. Beautiful grounds, and right off the freeway. The employee was very respectful and took care of sealing the urn box and placing it in the grave. He even created a space for the flowers to stand up. So glad I made it down, and able to say my final good bye.

My elderly friend's brother died a few weeks ago. He was to be cremated and a ceremony was to be…read moreheld at this mortuary. I went with her husband and we arrived before anyone else. The room was quiet and nicely decorated. The person who performed the Catholic ceremony seemed to be running late and didn't have her glasses and was a bit confused on the details. The Catholic part of the ceremony seemed to be 100% correct, though. $300 seemed a lot for someone to be less than perfect. I noticed that the sound seemed to have some glitches. Given that it was a difficult time, the ceremony went fairly well.

She and I arrived in time for the vigil and rosary, occurring from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. I am not of the Catholic faith; however, it was a beautiful moment to hear the songs of praise in Spanish. Her late brother was a musician and an Oakland A's fan. I even met her sister from Arizona. Such a loving family that I was honored to be there to hear the expressions from relatives of the departed one. I have taken several photos to share with my girlfriend. This family is good people and it is nice to be treated as part of the family - Mi hermana, mi familia.

I repeat DO NOT come here. They try to flip the script and tell you " no this was your loved ones request was" when you ask them for the proof and a signature from our loved one, they can not provide you any of the proper documentation. They play on your grieving heartstrings. They made my family members suffer already grieving and didn't make it easy for the burial transition for my grandmother that had passed away. This place is all about how much money they can make off of you even after your loved one has made their funeral/ burial plans 50 plus years ago. Years ago when my grandparents made their funeral/ burial plans De Young's was privately owned and they really went all out for you. You know that old fashioned caring and compassionate customer service we've become accustomed to, especially when we are so brokenhearted and not thinking clearly because our loved one has just passed. My grandmother would never have wanted her family to go through what our family went through with this horrible business. I strongly suggest going to a privately owned funeral home and not this place. 0 stars for this place!
