I contacted Alternative Surfaces about my garage floor just before moving into my new home. Erin and team answered my questions and met my real estate agent for an onsite estimate for several spaces where we are looking to have the epoxy floor done. Alternative Surfaces quote was clearly laid out, broken out by space with optional add ons (stem walls) itemized, so I could make a decision clearly on how to proceed. Decided to do the floors in my primary garage. "Wombat" Color. $6k project cost. I scheduled this several weeks in advance and paid the deposit. Due to logistics, I was not able to get the space empty in time, but AS worked with me to reschedule. The team came out and installed the floor in one day. This included repairing cracks in my concrete, filling, leveling, and doing the stem walls. I was amazed at the general result! My garage was transformed. They left my driveway a little flakey but it cleaned up easy enough. Just wanted to share this in case you are meticulous like I am. Once the coating was dry a couple days later, I did a close inspection. Some loose media/flakes were left and the top of the stem walls were light on coating. I contacted AS and they came out and corrected this. (Thanks!) Since November, I have been enjoying the floor. I work on my car so I spend a lot of time in the garage. The new floor has motivated me to work on other aspects of the garage. Last week, I noticed a ding in the floor. Contacted AS. They worked with me to repair and resolve. I've been happy with their work and their clear, prompt communication. The communication went a long way in helping me trust spending with them on my first big project in my home. She offered advice and options for us to choose from for all the various concrete finishes, making the design decision easier since our job was in a living room space. Dave kept us informed and quickly figured out a way to accommodate the timeline we were hoping to meet. The floor looks amazing already with the simple grind and seal they did (and its not even cured yet!) We are very happy with the end result and the overall experience of working with Alternative Surfaces - highly recommend! We were looking for a reasonably priced, eco friendly flooring for our basement with a mid century look. After ruling out Marmoleum (expense) I was trying to decide between an LVT tile or the epoxy flake floor. I had seen it done before in a basement and thought it was really nice. When I found out I could customize the colors and add glitter for a small additional cost I was in. The Alternative Surface solution has proven to be perfect. Erin was very thorough in explaining the process, the workers were fast and did a really nice job. They guys even came back the next day to do one more pass with the buffer without being asked because the surface was a little rough from some of the glitter flakes that were sticking up. The only drawback was that I did not request they seal up the opening to my studio which did end up getting covered in concrete dust. I'd advise anyone having this process done in doors to do so. Also - don't be in the house during the process - very loud and the epoxy smell is intense. The photos don't do it justice - much prettier in person. read more

We recently had our entire lower level cement floors refinished by Alternative Surfaces and they did a fantastic job! There was ugly carpeting and linoleum that had left a lot of nail damage and glue etc.. but they patched all the damage, buffed out the glue and stains and the floor now looks like brand new modern construction! Exceptionally good service. In a large home remodel project Dave has ended up being the best contractor we have used so far. He came on time to give the estimate, provided the most detailed quote with details of contract, checked in a couple of days ahead of the install, showed up the day before the install to make sure there would be no surprises, and the work performed is of exceptional quality. One minor SNAFU with expectations for finish gloss was handled professionally and with a focus on the solution, not the problem.
