My boyfriend and I just had the most bizarre experience of our life here. We were staying at the Evergreen Lodge in Vail over the weekend, and we were so excited when we found out the "Best Sports Bar in Vail" was right inside our lodge/hotel. We figured this would be the perfect place to watch the Super Bowl as they were decorating the area and getting the bar/restaurant ready to host lots of people. When we first talked to the front desk about it, they told us tables would go quick and recommended we reserve a table by putting down $100. So, we figured this would be worth it so we did. Oh how we wish we would have known what the night would entail... When we first sat down, the manager told us "we only hav 3 waiters tonight so it might be awhile". We sat at our table for probably around 25-30 minutes with absolutely no service whatsoever. It's as if we were invisible. Two servers, one younger girl and one older man, walked around the bar/restaurant serving others around us without even looking at us. Finally, my boyfriend had to stop the man in his tracks as he was passing us, and kindly asked him, "Would you be able to serve us?" And the man immediately looked annoyed at us and simply stated, "Well, I CAN serve you". ?? This guy, maybe around late 40s-50s with longer brown slicked back hair, is the reason we will never come back here nor recommend this place to anyone. Slow service is one thing, we completely understood it was a crazy night and would not have minded at all had that been the biggest issue. The bigger issue was that this man could not have been meaner, ruder, more disrespectful. My boyfriend and I are a younger couple, so we weren't sure if he didn't want to serve us because we looked like we wouldn't tip or what? My boyfriend is an attorney and I'm a registered nurse and we definitely have the money/always tip at least 20%, usually more than that if the service is good. So the man takes our drink orders without even introducing himself (so I can't even give a name), and leaves without saying a word. We wait about 20 min to receive our drinks. When we received them we put in an order for a pizza. When we were done with our first drink and ready to order a second round, not a single person would stop to help us or wait on us. The waiter would blow past our table without even looking at us. After probably 45min-1hr of us being completely ignored, my boyfriend walked up to the bar and asked if he could order food and more drinks up there. They told him they would send the waiter our way. The waiter comes over and comes up behind my boyfriend and says in his ear "what can I get you", no apology no other words, and in a rude/unhappy tone as if we were the biggest burden to him even though he was serving tables full of 5+ people and chatting them up. He ordered a beer and I ordered another drink, and in the middle of me speaking as I stated "and we also..." (to check on our pizza), the waiter stormed off when I was mid-sentence. My boyfriend and I looked at each other so confused like what just happened? We hadn't been anything but nice and patient with this waiter and for some reason we were getting the worst treatment in the whole place. Everyone else around us was getting drink after drink as well as food for the whole table, while our waiter is just blowing right past us all night. So we try to ignore it and not let it ruin our night and continue to watch the game. We ordered our pizza around 4:30pm when we first got there, and by 5:30pm we still had not received it. We kept trying to flag down the waiter to remind him/check on it and he would simply look right at us and ignore us and walk the other way. 6:30pm comes and we were really frustrated because the waiter had not even come by at all and we still hadn't received our pizza. My boyfriend decided to stand up and stop the waiter as he was passing our table and says, "hey I'm sorry, it's been 2 hours and we still haven't received our pizza". The waiter looks at him and asks what pizza we ordered. The pizza was out 10 min after that, so who knows if he even put the order in in the first place. Once we got our food and next round of drinks we felt better and just decided to not let him bother us. The waiter drops the check off and my boyfriend immediately puts his card down, but the waiter doesn't come back by for around 45min. My boyfriend goes to the bar to drop it off and the waiter immediately got ugly with him saying "STEP BACK FROM THE BAR IM COMING" and snatched his card out of his hand. We wait and wait, then finally see the waiter head to another table to give them their tab, but as he's walking back to the bar and past us, he drops my boyfriends card on the ground in the middle of the place. My boyfriend runs over to grab it and walks up to the bar and simply says "you dropped my card back there here you go" and this is the when the waiter gets EXTREMELY ugly with him. (CONTINUED IN PHOTOS)!

Nice local place that is conveniently located in the Evergreen Lodge hotel. Nice selection of beers. Bar food is pretty good! Several pool tables that are in very good shape.

After walking through and grabbing a drink or appetizer at several 'Village' (i.e. tourist) venues in Vail during a weekend trip we asked the hotel staff where THEY hang out after work. They pointed us to Altitude, 3 or 4 blocks off the beaten path. It was awesome. Sat at the bar and Shawn the bartender educated me on some high-complexity shots, guys in ballcaps watching the game, and I learned the merits of Frangelico after another patron gave me a sip of his (it tastes like chocolate cake in a glass...were you aware of this? Was it just me that didn't know??!). And because it wasn't high traffic we got to play as many games of pool as we wanted for free because no one else was playing. Still close enough that we walked back to our hotel afterward. I wish I could've taken Altitude home with me, it would be a regular hangout.

**15/10; iconic, must be protected at all costs**…read more My girlfriend and I are in Vail for the weekend to watch dogs jump into water, as one does. We're staying at the Grand Hyatt, which has been... fine. Meh, if we're being honest. A local recommended Mountain Standard, so we tried to make a reservation on OpenTable and quickly learned they were booked solid until tomorrow (a great data point, btw). But, being the swarthy pirates that we are, we showed up anyway; and thank sweet baby Jesus, we found two seats at the bar. Our barkeep, Gummow, a fellow swarthy pirate, was excellent in every possible way. His bar back, Rowan, could not have been a better support man. Together, they delivered the kind of service that makes you remember why hospitality is an art form. And the food? Absolutely to die for. My girlfriend had the oxtail, and I had the mock paella. Both were incredible. The service, the food, the environment; every facet was dialed in. We will be going back tomorrow for lunch, possibly dinner, and possibly to inquire about monthly rent. As a former service industry worker myself, real recognize real. This place and these people are it. Mountain Standard is iconic and must be protected at all costs.

They were able to get us in with a 30 minute wait. We got lucky and sat at the bar while we waited. I had a margarita while I waited and on an empty stomach it hit quick. We ate the Pimento cheese that was delicious and split a biscuit. Pimento cheese was delicious. For the main meal we had the Oxtail ravioli and the Pork Shank. The Oxtail was delicious but didn't look appetizing. The pork shank was delicious Little pricy but overall a nice experience.

We stopped in at the Red Lion after skiing…read more It was crowded and we were looking for an outside table for six people. Only four of us were there as the other two were across the street at Christy's returning their rental skis. There was a table of 6 but the hostess said she couldn't sit us until the other two arrived. Right then, a guy walks up and asks for that same table. He was by himself and she gave the table with six chairs to him. His full party was clearly not there but she sat him anyway. Why is that allowed? Clearly favoritism. And to be clear, two of his friends showed up and the other three never arrived. So, at that point we told the hostess we were now a table of four and she said we could sit at a table that had 3 chairs. Well okay....we took it. We grabbed the table and asked other tables around us for the extra 3 chairs and everyone was nice enough to give us the extra chairs. Our server, Suzanne was excellent. Very attentive, friendly and immediately brought us our drinks and food. The nachos were tasty. Drinks were good but pricy. I give Suzanne 5 stars, food 3 stars hostess 0 stars. Treat everyone fairly and respectfully. The hostess could use customer service training.

We were staying down the street from The Four Seasons and wanted to pop in for a drink after dinner…read moreat the Remedy Bar. We walked in and it appeared to be a quiet night, we could see the bar was pretty empty. The hostess asked if we were staying at the hotel and we said no, we were dropping by for cocktails and wished to sit outside. She told us we could sit inside at a couch area by the entrance. One of our friends walked through the bar and noticed the fire pit seating areas were available and asked a server if we could sit there instead. She looked at us and said she would have to ask the hostess if any were available. Clearly they were and they didn't want our group sitting there for some reason. The bar was practically empty so not sure what the issue would be, perhaps it was because we were not hotel guests. After not getting back to us we just sat ourselves outside. Our server was Nivas. Nivas was not overly friendly but she was attentive. We ordered a couple rounds of cocktails. They were pricy but good. The fire pit tables are very nice. If you can sit outside at a fire pit I would recommend doing so.

Such a relaxing but chic spot to enjoy a meal after being out in the mountains. Our waitress was not overbearing and gave us enough time between bites to take it all in. She also made sure we got the full experience with the hot chocolate to marvel at its glory! The food was excellent, but the butternut squash soup was truly outstanding. It had a beautiful natural sweetness with a subtle hint of apple that made the flavor feel layered and comforting, and the pepitas added the perfect little crunch. It was one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. We also ordered the hummus, which tasted incredibly fresh and crisp, light, bright, and perfectly refreshing alongside the richer dishes. But the real star of the experience was the hot chocolate. It was absolutely decadent and comforting, easily one of the best cups of hot chocolate I've ever had. Rich, smooth, and the perfect treat in a snowy Vail setting. Overall, Remedy Bar delivers a beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, and a cozy mountain-luxury experience. I would absolutely recommend stopping in if you're visiting Vail.
