Never heard about Alto until this morning. First time using Alto, and used it to get from car dealer to work (a 12 minute drive if you're moving slowly) (Sewell has some kind of deal). Car ordered at 8:38 am at Sewell Infinity on Lemmon. App indicated the car would be there by 8:45 but did not get there until 9:02; however, the app did keep constantly informed on the driver's whereabouts, and it was rush hour. When the vehicle came, it was everything you want a drive-share vehicle to be. Friendly driver, immaculate clean vehicle. Water bottle & umbrella. Privacy shield from front to back seat. Chargers. Apparently other amenities I did not understand. So, why the "3" and not some "4 or 5? the entire ride was a sales-pitch on Alto. Apparently its a drive-share but you have to pay a membership to use it. It's not like you pay a membership price and you now have an oncall driver. Nope. Rather, you pay the membership for a better service but you also pay for each ride - and a premium amount for the service (though members get a 30% discount). The service you pay for is really the knowledge that you are avoiding the hit-or-miss nature of Uber or Lyft. read more

The app and communication for this rideshare is terrible. The driver went to the wrong place and when I tried to text or call, the app kept telling me that it could not go through. Then I tried to call Alto and a recording kept telling me that their call volume was too high and that I needed to call back later. Eventually, the app told me the ride was canceled. So, I tried to order a new ride. The app kicked me out! It said too many attempts made on this account. No kidding! I was not able to get back in and of course they're not answering their phone to help me, so what to do? I paid $200 for the year and had two rides. The first was fine, but this second was so bad that I am going back to Uber Black. read more

I would love to recommend Alto, but I cannot. Their cars are sparkling clean, and their drivers are vetted. Their BILLING is outrageously unregulated and confiscatory to the point of extortion! I have paid for several years of monthly "membership fees," only to face unbelievably bizarrely high surprise billings! I recently had to cancel my membership over the most outrageous case of overbilling I have seen in my over 60 years of life. EVERYTHING about this service is great....except the unreliable and ridiculous billing. I have used Lyft Silver recently with great, predictable, safe results. Use Alto if you have money to burn and don't care what you are spending....OR you pay no attention to the ethics of the billing scenarios with companies with which you have transactions. read more

If you want a ride share company that is reliable and accountable, this is not the one. First, even at DFW airport, you have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for a ride, often sent from cities like Plano or Frisco when their dispatch is only 10 minutes away. Cars are not there or available. Second, even with a prescheduled and confirmed ride, they often cancel you last minute due to cars "not being available". What's the point of a prescheduled and confirmed ride if they are NOT going to have a car for you? Last, they have no accountability. When something goes wrong, there is no phone number to call, no email to send an SOS to, no nothing. And try to get in touch with their Founder on LinkedIn .... he is as equally unresponsive. Like all start-ups, Alto started out looking to impress potential investors and potential clients with reliability and excellent customer service. But like start-ups looking to cash out or headed toward closure, things have gone really downhill. DON'T sign up for an annual membership...even those at the "Founder" level get unacceptable service, particularly around billing issues, and automatic renewals regardless of attempts to cancel around renewal time. I am a Founding Member who has been with Alto from the beginning. Long ago I abandoned Uber and Lyft in favor of the benefits of Alto. And as a loyal customer I maintained an annual membership with Alto. Recently when I moved out of the Dallas area to a community that was not served by Alto, I requested a refund of the portion of my annual membership (9 months) that was not used. Alto's response: "We are not able to issue a refund" and "You will still have access to your member benefits until March 2026". Needless to say, I am most disappointed with Alto's position. Any vendor is able to issue a refund on a credit card charge. I signed up with Alto on 2024 because it seemed like a good alternative option to Uber. I paid the $99 membership fee (which I still think is an unnecessary cash grab) and had a handful of pleasant rides in the Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami areas. Then I noticed that Alto started pulling out of several markets that I travel to - DC, LA, and others. They also seem to have limited service in Tarrant County (I live just east of DFW Airport, in Tarrant County). After months of not using Alto, I received an auto-renewal charge of $99 for another year of membership. Well, I immediately canceled my membership and have disputed the credit card charge. Alto **should** have sent an automated email a few weeks before the renewal alerting me that it was coming. Better yet, auto-renewal shouldn't be their standard default setting. But by sheer luck, I saw the charge was pending the day after it was reported on my credit card account. Obviously, no one should be made to pay for a service they do not use. And if anyone from Alto is reading this, you guys REALLY need to prominently show on your website how to contact you. So here it is. I am quite familiar with how to drive around Dallas. I have lived here for 25 years and I've gone to this doctors office every month for many many years. I am not able to drive after the appointment so that is why I hire Alto to take me to and from. I live by LOVE Field and the route should have been mockingbird east to tollway to 635 to Hillcrest. The driver took me completely out of the correct direction and continued to tell me that the map was the best and it was not! He took me from My Home to Harry Hines north (as I am asking him to turn around). Then to Regal Row to 35 to 635. I told him numerous times over and over OK if we are going to go this way take the express route onto 635 east. I do not want to get in traffic. We approach the exit and I reminded him yet again take the express route Walnut Hill exit to 635 Xpress and he ignored me and passed the exit continuing to tell me that the map is correct, this was complete nonsense and significantly delayed me for my doctors appointment , as we got into a traffic jam on 635. We finally arrived at the Hillcrest exit and he wants to take some weird side street alternative route and I said no go forward to the light at Hillcrest and turn right....again... He's saying the map is correct so we get to the red light he is first and just sits there and does not turn right. No oncoming traffic whatsoever. This entire issue would never have happened if he took the correct route and followed my instructions. I have never ever had an Alto driver to be so rude and disrespectful. Disregarding my instructions. I was miserable. The trip direction should be under my control and not your ridiculous GPS that is incorrect and inaccurate, Or a driver who has the attitude and demeanor that he is going to do what he wants. I am ill and this exacerbated the situation out of control I was in an absolute panic that I am going to miss the only appointment available today , and that is why I called Support while on board. My blood pressure skyrocketed and when I finally arrived at the doctors office, they were shocked. My health was compromised today. This experience was completely out of character for Alto and I am absolutely disappointed in the driver's performance. I do not recommend him to remain on board with you. This driver needs more than consultation or reprimand. He needs to be removed. He would never have a job with me or anyone that I know. I also had a conversation with my return trip driver who took me on the absolutely correct route home and she said the other driver just does not know Dallas, and the GPS is often inaccurate. I agree 100% People will forget what you said people will forget what you did, but people will never ever forget how you treated them! Be very assured, I am going to be talking with Mr. Coleman about my experience today. I expect and insist to be provided with the excellent service that I pay for, going forward. Try it out to drive for this company. They are automatically directed for men only, when I tried out for my driving test. As nice as he was would never even give me time to adjust my mirrors.Or instruct me how to start the car. He told me to get in and start the car and go. I've tried via membership for two different periods. I quit the first time because although the service, cars and drivers are great, they almost NEVER have cars available to members. I've been left waiting for a half hour multiple times in central Dallas and had to pivot to Uber. I just tried again for a time-sensitive ride to the airport (including re-starting membership for advance reservation). I guess I had an old card in there and payment didn't go through. Did I get an alert? A text? A call as a paid member? Nope. Just an email. If I hadn't been rooting around for another message, we would have missed our flight. We'll never use them again. As a semi-retired degreed professional, I thought ALTO would be a great source of additional income. Most of the interview is AI generated. I was accepted as a candidate and was given the option to select a time for a driving test. I selected my time. Driving test day, I showed up 15 minutes early for the test. Sat in their office with one other individual and waited for over an hour only to find out that they were cancelling the driving test for the day because the instructor needed or wanted to go home. They asked us to return the next morning. I left their office and ran a few errands before heading home. During the drive home, every warning light in my Lexus came on. My car stalled and I was unable to get it restarted. I called roadside assistance. Concerned that I would be unable to attend the rescheduled driving appointment, I sent three text messages to the instructor and called and left two messages. I received no response from ALTO until this morning, an email advising me that since I missed my driving test, I was ineligible for a driver role with their company. Fine. Hire the guy that was there with me for a driving test that could not stop talking about his criminal record history and concern he would not get a driver's job due to his record. He was not a citizen and already had a record. If that is the caliber of people you are looking for, go for it and good luck. read more

This IS NOT the service you want for rides to and from the airport if you need to be on time or don't want to wait at the airport. This was a great company a couple years ago, but has become very unreliable to date. Blacklane or even Uber Black are far better options for a couple bucks more since a licensed limo driver will track your flight and meet you at baggage. First issue was when Alto was to pick us up at the airport. They were already late and we were waiting at the curb. We got a driver and communicated with him as he was on the way in. Just when he drove up, Alto switched to another driver 17 minutes away. The first driver stopped right in front of us and he said dispatch changed. He waited for 10 minutes for the other fare and we asked him to confirm with dispatch as that is a slap in the face of a good corporate customer. The guy who booked the ride came out and said he uses them once in a while and booked while on the ground. To make matters worse, his wife would be waiting for the luggage, which is at least 10 more minutes at DFW. To further slap a in the face our driver changed again another 15 minutes out. We got an Uber black in 5 minutes after feeling spit on by this company. OK. Let's give them one more shot. Booked to the airport and 22 minutes late. Driver switch and 2nd driver was taking another customer from Ewing at the time opposite direction. They don't have enough drivers, the dispatch is wrong as need to ensure airport bookings take priority, even cab companies do this. And if you want to talk to a live person for customer service, good luck. Glad to pay 4% more for Blacklane to/from airport as they have never let us down, even picking up from cruises, which Alto wouldn't do in Florida where they are also located. They hire excessive amounts of people because they know they're gonna get fired. Management puts on a fake face and smiles and pretends to care they don't. The system they use to watch you drive is overly sensitive. If they give you a paper to sign to coach you or give you a warning the next day, they will fire you. Car was ordered at 7:12 AM. Drivers ETA was not updating on the app. I texted the driver at 7:24 AM and did not receive a response. I waited an additional 10 minutes without any updates. I cancelled the ride and it informed me that I would still be charged. I ordered an Uber and they arrived within 2 minutes. At 7:57 AM the Alto driver contacted me saying they arrived and were outside even though I canceled the booking through the app. This was my first time trying Alto and the experience makes it seem that Alto does not value expeditious service or operate on a timely schedule. read more

I have been an Alto user for two years or more. scheduled a ride for my wife and I to DFW airport for an international flight. Driver went to the airport not my home to pick me up. Ride had to be cancelled to try and rebook another Alto. When I cancelled the trip and went back in the AP to rebook I got a message saying "we have no cars and we are busy" and to please try back in about 30 minutes. No customer service and no system to expedite a fix. Alto was super quick to charge me a trip cancellation fee but reversed it. I had to drive to airport and pay parking fees well in excess of my scheduled fare. I would give Alto no stars if I could. The average is 3&1/3 stars. they claim to be better than Uber but they aren't if they can expedite a screw up like this. No cars at 7:30 AM on a Tuesday ?? Come on Alto read more

Takes forever to come and significantly more expensive than uber or Lyft. Recently became the primary ride share app for love field airport and it is always at least a 30 minute wait for them to arrive even though the apparent HQ is right across the street. And any time you need customer support or a ride no shows, they offer little to no help or reimbursement. Would not recommend to anyone read more

I had several good (albeit expensive) experiences with Alto, but two weeks ago they really gave me the shaft. In advance, I reserved a time for them to pick me up to go to a rehearsal dinner. Just my luck, it began to rain. I was advised to expect the car would be at my home within 10 minutes of my desired departure time, so I added 10 minutes. I wanted to leave at 6:30, so I told them 6:20. 6:20 came, and so did 6:30; no car. No notification as to the location of the car. I called Alto and was told that they'd look into it and call me right back. I said you'd better call me "right back" because I have to be there at 7:00. Now it was 6:40, so I drove myself. I was late, but acceptably late. Alto called me "right back" at 7:05 to say that they had had a computer problem. I explained that I had had to drive myself in the rain and dark, and I wasn't a bit happy. The woman apologized and said they would be in touch the next day to make it right. I told the woman to cancel my "membership." She said that as a non-member, I would have to pay 30% more for Alto rides. I told her that wouldn't be a problem since I wouldn't be using Alto any longer. Almost two weeks have gone by, and I haven't heard a word from them. six read more

It took 2 days to even schedule delivery, couldn't deliver all at the same time so had to schedule 3 separate deliveries and days. To make a long story short.....my 1st delivery was late (the window was 7-10 PM and it arrived at 11:30 PM), the 2nd delivery never made it to my house even though they told me it was delivered. Still fighting for a refund. The 3rd delivery...driver canceled after I had just talked to them at 11:45PM. Their delivery window is from 7-10PM. Stay as far away from this company as you can. RIDER BEWARE - I honestly cannot say if they are reliable as a service since I only have this one experience, but they are definitely shady in their business practices. My 20-year old received a promotional gift card at a benefit he attended, and planned to use it for his birthday ride to a Mavericks game. The app stated that the promotion was for new riders and members only (see below). The estimate was $65-$80 (maybe 20-30% more than an uber), but he didn't really think much of it, because he had the gift card, and was a new rider. They charged his account $101 for the ride, and when he called them to explain that the ride was supposed to be covered with the card, they told him he had to be a member. I am usually skeptical of anything "free," but this all seemed legit to me. My husband is visually impaired and uses uber often. I would have actually explored becoming a member, but it's not something I would consider now. I hate when business take advantage of someone's trusting nature. It can't be good for the longterm. If my son learns a really good life lesson for only $100, it was worth it, but what a zing on his birthday! read more
